"John Rumble, the distinguished Canadian equestrian, passed away on December 6th, 2023. He spent his last moments at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario. He died at the age of 90. Born on August 27th, 1933, in Toronto. Rumble's equestrian journey began with a notable Olympic feat at 22. Also securing a team bronze three-day eventing medal in the 1956 Stockholm Games riding Cilroy. Beyond competitive success, Rumble, alongside his wife Judy, contributed significantly to Olympic-potential eventing horses. Their partnership with Canadian eventer Selena O'Hanlon resulted in many achievements. Such as the Pan Am Games silver in 2011 and a historic CCI 3* Fair Hill International win in 2017. Rumble's engagement extended beyond the arena, providing coaching enriched with engineering insights. Recognized for his contributions, he entered the Canadian Eventing Hall of Fame in 2009. A close friend and teammate of Jim Elder for over 85 years. Rumble's legacy is one of passion and support for the equestrian community. He is survived by his wife, Judy, and children, Mike and Betsy. John Rumble's passing leaves a void in the equestrian world. His impact on the sport, his dedication to nurturing talent, and his enduring friendships mark a chapter that will be celebrated and remembered. "
