"Frank Ryan was the quarterback who led the Cleveland Browns to their last NFL title in 1964. He passed away at the age of 87 on January 1st, 2024, at a nursing home in Waterford, Connecticut. Ryan had been battling Alzheimer's disease, according to his son, Frank Ryan Jr. Ryan played a pivotal role in the Browns' 27-0 victory over the Baltimore Colts on December 27, 1964. Securing three touchdown passes to Gary Collins. Despite this championship win, the Browns have not clinched a football title since. Thus making Ryan's legacy even more significant. A three-time Pro Bowler, Ryan was a key figure in the Browns' success during the early to mid-1960s. Alongside Hall of Fame running backs Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly. After his playing career, Ryan, who held a Ph.D. in mathematics from Rice, ventured into public service. Thus working for the U.S. House of Representatives. Ryan's impact extended beyond the football field, showcasing his multidimensional talents. His tenure included playing for the Los Angeles Rams and Washington Redskins before retiring in 1970. Ryan studied while with the Browns, earning a doctorate and later teaching at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. Ryan's legacy encompasses not only his athletic prowess but also his contributions to academia and public service. "
