Lola Dee, a renowned pop singer from the 1950s, was known for hits like ""Pretty Eyed Baby"" and ""Only You (And You Alone)."" She passed away on December 7, 2023, at the age of 95. She died of natural causes in Hinsdale, Illinois, at a nursing facility. Initially billed as Lola Ameche, she signed a five-year contract with Mercury Records in the '50s. Thus recording the chart-topping ""Pretty Eyed Baby."" Rebranded as Lola Dee with blonde hair during the rock and roll era. She continued to produce hits like ""Padre"" and ""Dig That Crazy Santa Claus."" Her rendition of the Platters' ""Only You (And You Alone)"" on Mercury's subsidiary label Wing Records sold close to a million copies. Beyond her recording success, Lola Dee became a sought-after performer. Thus touring with renowned artists such as Bob Hope, Jimmy Durante, and Johnnie Ray across the globe. She graced stages in various countries, showcasing her talent in clubs and theaters. Born Lorraine DeAngelis in 1928 in Chicago. Lola Dee started her career early, participating in local amateur shows as a child. Her final public appearances were in 1978. When she performed the national anthem for the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. Lola Dee is survived by her son Barry, whom she had with her husband Ralph Valentino.
