"Former Utah Attorney General Jan Graham passed away on January 29th, 2024. She spent her last moments at her home in St. George, Utah. She passed away after battling primary peritoneal cancer. She was 74 years old. Jan Graham, a trailblazer in Utah's political landscape, was the first woman elected as Utah's attorney general. She was born on July 19th, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Sugarhouse and graduated from the University of Utah's law school. Graham was famous for her dedication to justice, fairness, and equality. During her tenure as Attorney General, Graham championed various initiatives. Including creating Children's Justice Centers to provide a safe space for children facing problems at home. She was also at the front of the fight against tobacco companies to secure funds for lung cancer treatment. Graham's legacy extended beyond her political career. She co-founded the ""Safe at Home"" foundation with Joe Torre. She continued to advocate for victims of domestic abuse even after leaving public office. Her passing elicited condolences and tributes from political leaders and colleagues. Highlighting her enduring impact on Utah's legal and social fabric.
