Drake Hogestyn, the “Day of Our Lives” star who starred on the show for 38 years, passed away on Saturday at the age of 70. Drake Hogestyn gave in after putting up an unbelievable fight against pancreatic cancer. He passed away on the day before what would’ve been his 71st birthday. He is well-known for the character that he played “John Black” in more than 4,200 episodes of the popular soap opera – Days of Our Life. Hogestyn broke into the television world only four years before with a role in “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.” He also appeared in many other projects throughout his career. However, he gained popularity after his long-running role in the famous soap opera. Prior to his foray into acting, he was a baseball player and played for a New York Yankees-affiliated minor league team. Mr. Hogestyn's final appearance on the show aired on September 9. He is survived by his beloved wife – Victoria, their four children – Alexandra, Whitney, Ben, and Rachel, and their partners. Moreover, his seven grandkids also survive him and miss him dearly.
