Wink Martindale, a genial game show host & an early TV interviewer of Elvis Presley, passed away at 91. Born Winston Conrad Martindale, he stepped into his career as a disc jockey at the tender age of 17. After that, he served as a radio and TV host. Due to his unmatchable dedication and talent, it didn't take him long to become popularly known for piloting the game shows "Tic-Tac-Dough" and "Gambit." Martindale passed away on Tuesday in Rancho Mirage, California, while surrounded by his loved ones. The reason for his unfortunate demise is not yet disclosed. Some of his famous credits also include "Headline Chasers" and "High Rollers," the former of which he made and co-produced with fellow TV host Merv Griffin. He was married to Sandy Ferra. He was also good friends with the rock icon, Presley coming on the TV personality's show in 1956 for "Teenage Dance Party" Apart from his hosting prowess, in 1959, he also scored a pop hit with his rendition of the recitation song "The Deck of Cards." The song peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2006, Wink was honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame. He left behind a legacy of love, dedication, and compassion. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his daughters, Laura, Lyn, and Lisa; his sister, Geraldine; and a huge extended family.
