Dwight Cook, a faithful servant, concluded his earthly journey on January 7, 2024, at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center, Mandan, ND, at the age of 72. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 19, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, ND, with burial at Mandan Union Cemetery. Born to Robert and Irene Cook on December 14, 1951, Dwight was the seventh of eight children. After marrying Shirley in 1974, they settled in Mandan, raising three children and welcoming eight grandchildren. Dwight's commitment extended to various roles, from coaching softball to serving in the Air National Guard, chairing the Morton County Housing Authority, and thriving in his business ventures. A North Dakota Senate member, Dwight lived by his mantra, "the road to perfection is always under construction." His family cherished his accomplishments, particularly his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Known for his jokes, laughter, and wisdom, Dwight's favorite Bible verse, 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, encapsulates his life philosophy. He is survived by his wife Shirley, children Bobbie, Becky, and Matthew, their spouses, grandchildren, siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Troy Cook, sister Janith Ness, brother-in-laws Jim Miller and Ken Hoffman. The family appreciates the prayers and support received during this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mandan Parks and Recreation Foundation, Att: Dwight Cook Memorial Fund. Dwight's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved and admired him. May he rest in eternal peace.
