Harry Rosen, the Canadian fashion retailing legend and philanthropist, passed away at the age of 92. He died on December 24th, 2023, at his home in Toronto, Ontario. His eldest son, Larry Rosen, the chairman and CEO of Harry Rosen Inc., announced his father's death. Emphasizing his role as the ""founder and visionary"" of the renowned men's wear company spanning three generations. Starting in 1954 with a small made-to-measure men's clothing store in Toronto's Cabbagetown neighborhood. Harry Rosen, along with his brother Lou, laid the foundation for a global men's boutique. Despite humble beginnings, his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for well-crafted clothing helped the business flourish. The introduction of the ""Harry Rosen look,"" featuring the natural shoulder suit in 1957, became iconic. By the 1980s, Harry Rosen Inc. had expanded across Canada, becoming the largest men's retailer in the country. Harry's emphasis on customer care remained paramount. Even as the company grew. He played a pivotal role in introducing luxury Italian designers like Ermenegildo Zegna and Giorgio Armani to Canada. Harry Rosen's dedication to customers was exemplified by stories of personal deliveries and attention to detail. His influence continued as he remained actively involved until the early 2000s. In 2004, he was honored with the Order of Canada for his contributions to the business world. In 2010, he was recognized for raising funds for stem-cell research. Having been diagnosed with Alzheimer's about three years ago, Harry Rosen is survived by his long-time partner Evelyn. Larry Rosen expressed gratitude for his father's long life and the enduring legacy he left for future generations.

Married for 60 years to his high school love, Shelagh, Peter had a fulfilling life. With a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Peter dedicated his entire career to Scotiabank, eventually becoming Chairman and CEO. Under his leadership, the bank flourished, rising to become the second-largest Canadian bank and company. He also contributed significantly to Canadian business, serving on the boards of various global companies. Peter's commitment to equality was notable, intentionally promoting diversity in the workplace. His generosity extended to community service. Including roles as Chancellor of the University of Western Ontario and serving on boards. Recognized with awards like the Order of Canada, Order of Ontario, and Order of Jamaica, Peter's impact was substantial. Famous for his gregarious nature, Peter enjoyed family time, watching James Bond movies, and traveling to nearly 100 countries together. A loving father and grandfather, he supported his children and embraced moments with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories. Peter's life was characterized by love, generosity, and positive impact, leaving behind a legacy that touched countless lives.

"Renowned Black Canadian film and TV director Charles Officer passed away on December 1st, 2023, at his Toronto home. He was 49. Officer's death resulted from complications following a lung transplant in February 2023, during which he battled an autoimmune illness. Officer, a pioneer in the industry, directed impactful films. This included his latest work, ""Akilla's Escape,"" a crime noir addressing urban child soldiers. His breakout movie was the 2009 indie ""Nurse.Fighter.Boy."" Which depicted an urban love story exploring the life of a widowed single mother with sickle cell disease. As a co-founder of the Black Screen Office in Canada, he also established Canesugar Filmworks. Along with his longtime business partner, Jake Yanowski. A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre, Officer's filmography includes documentaries like ""Mighty Jerome"" and ""Unarmed Verses.""
