Las Vegas, NV
Former Broncos Wide Receiver Mike Haffner took his last breath at 82. Mike Haffner, a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos who later became a longtime sports broadcaster and a color commentator for NBC, has met his end after a lengthy illness. A lot of football fans will remember his diving catch playing against defending Super Bowl champions, the New York Jets, in 1969. This move of his helped the Denver Broncos secure victory in an otherwise losing 5-8-1- season. For others, it will definitely be his years as a commentator for the National Football League on NBC. After playing in college for UCLA, he aced three seasons as a Bronco from 1968 to 1970. Soon, the wide receiver completed his career’s final season with the Cincinnati Bengals. He had 991 career yards on 59 catches combined in 37 games, 16 of them starts. The best game of his career came as a rookie when he pulled in four passes for 122 yards in a game played against the Kansas City Chiefs. After his player days came to an end in 1971, Haffner moved to broadcasting, offering color commentary on NBC and later for KMGH-TV in Denver.
Mimi Hines
Jul 16, 1933 - Oct 20, 2024
Las Vegas, NV
Funny Girl and Vaudevillian star Mimi Hines took her last breaths at the age of 91. Hines, a Canadian-born star of television, stage, and nightclubs, became the brightest of the stars in the sky as she took her last breaths on Monday at her home due to natural causes. She was one of the last surviving performers of the vaudeville tradition. Ms. Hones brought immense energy to her work, whether she was delivering show-stopping numbers to packed houses on Broadway or dishing out the one-liners in nightclubs as half of a comedy-and-song duo, Ford & Hines, with her husband, Phil Ford. During her peak in the 1950s and 1960s, numerous journalists mostly noted her distinctive facial features and her elfin quality. She was never shy about using her cleft chin, wide and toothy grin, and deep dimples as a comic prop. Born in July 1933 in Vancouver, she polished her style on the nightclub circuit prior to meeting her fellow comic Phil Ford in Anchorage, Alaska. They both fit together quickly on and off-stage, forming their own duo for vaudeville (Ford & Hines). They ended up marrying each other in 1954. In 1958, the couple got their well-deserved big break on “The Tonight Show,” which at the time was hosted by Jack Paar. It was the first of many appearances they would make over the years on “Tonight Show.” Hines’ version of the song “Till There Was You” from “The Music Man” got the audience to tears. A far bigger victory loomed in 1965 when she was asked to replace Ms. Streisand in the iconic musical “Funny Girl.” Her beloved husband also joined the cast, playing the character of Eddie Ryan - Fanny’s mentor. Ms. Hines’ work in this musical lasted about 19 months, after which she became a part of touring companies of “Sugar Babies,” “The Prisoner of Second Avenue,” and “I Do! I Do!.” Mimi was predeceased by her husband in 2005.

The team bagged two consecutive World Series titles in 1975 and 1976.
