"Dr. Sidney Wolfe was an eminent public health leader and co-founder of the Health Research Group. A trailblazer in health justice and consumer protection, Wolfe's legacy spans over five decades of impactful advocacy. Wolfe, alongside Ralph Nader, established the Health Research Group in 1971. Thus shaping a paradigm of ""research-based advocacy."" His innovative approach aimed to eliminate perilous drugs. He aimed to bolster worker health, challenge the FDA, and hold pharmaceutical entities accountable. A recipient of the MacArthur ""genius"" grant, Wolfe's brilliance and fearlessness defined his advocacy. Throughout his tenure, Wolfe confronted diverse health issues. From addressing contaminated intravenous fluids in the early '70s to campaigning against opioid addiction. His famous ""Outrage of the Month"" underscored the moral imperative of combating inhumane practices. Under Wolfe's stewardship, Public Citizen achieved significant milestones. Including the removal of 28 dangerous medications and influence over OSHA standards. He brought impactful testimonies before FDA advisory committees.
