Hilda Louise Sims, aged 73, passed away on October 12, 2024, was a resident of Louisiana. She was born on June 12, 1951, in Bassfield, Mississippi, to Carsie Stubbs Sr. and Hattie Coela Harrin Stubbs. Hilda was an extraordinary individual who touched the lives of many with her kindness, creativity, and unwavering faith. Hilda's love for sewing was unparalleled. She had a remarkable talent for creating beautiful clothing and took great joy in teaching others the art of sewing. Creating memories in making clothing for many of her friends. Her passion for learning from and sharing with others brought her immense happiness. It was a store by the name of “Krauss” that sold fabric and the best yogurt she ever tasted! She didn’t like to drive in the city but she would definitely make her way to Krauss every week to purchase a pattern or fabric. She would love to go to visit her family and dad in Mississippi should always stop in Columbia Mississippi to buy these amazing burgers that she truly love. In addition to sewing, Hilda's culinary skills were renowned, particularly her famous pecan candy , cheese cake and gumbo. She brought her creativity and love for making tasty foods and treats into every dish she prepared. So very many people would say Ms. Hilda this is the best I ever tasted. Hilda was such a loving mother to so very many, she would assure that everyone was seen about she opened her home to so very many friends and love ones. She would always say that she it takes more work to be unkind! Because many people come into your life but only a handful makes a difference. Hilda knew that she had to help everyone in spite of any uncomfortable situations. Hilda truly had also love to be with her friends such as Christine Colbert, Cynthia Malone , Mable Smith, Linda Covington, Julia Raymond , Stacey Fields Mackey, and Diane , Carl Guy and Naomi Smith Annetta Wilson. As a grandmother she spent a lot time with her grandchildren’s. She had so many found memories of loving and nurturing them. She created life long bonds with her grand children. They would sit there and watch her favorite westerns with her “ Long Ranger” She gave them the tools to be great parents and great grand parents. A host of many other amazing friends. She had so many fond memories that she shared with each and everyone one of them over the years. So very many people loved her for the consistent love she displayed. Hilda’s motto was “ How Can I Help! ” Hilda was a devout member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses and was known for her dedication to her faith. She proudly held the title of "Servant of Jehovah" and epitomized the values and teachings that she held dear. Hilda is preceded in death by her loving father, Carsie Stubbs Sr., her dear mother, Hattie Coela Harrin Stubbs, her brother Sammie Stubbs, her sister Mary Jane Stubbs, her brother Carsie Stubbs, her sister Mary Lou Johnson, her (niece) Rosalyn Hall Coleman, her (nephew) Rodney J. Coleman Sr., and her (nephew) Danny Dantzler (nephew) Shaun Stubbs. While their loss is deeply felt, their memories will forever be cherished. Hilda leaves behind a legacy that will be forever etched in the hearts of her loved ones. She is survived by her (Former) husband J.W. Sims , (son) Jerry Wayne Sims ( wife) Ieasha Brooks Sims, and her (daughter) Kristin Mechelle Sims, both of whom reside in Louisiana. Hilda leaves behind her (sister) Marie Coleman , ( sister) Martha Roseman, (brother) Hershey Stubbs, Leah M. Turner Coleman, (wife) to Rodney Coleman and (niece) to Hilda resides in San Antonio, Texas, Hilda was also a beloved grandmother to Jazmin Sims Mutasa and (husband) Tonderai Mutasa of Alaska, Joshua Ross and Sariah Ross of Waggaman, Akyla Andrus, Alacyia Andrus, Alyissa Andrus, and Angel Andrus, all of Waggaman. (Niece) Stacey Dantzler, Theresa, (nephew) Sylvester Jr. Stubbs , Rodney Jr., Zachery (wife) Courtney, ( nephews) Dylan, Brandon, Skyler Coleman, (niece) Dyvas Hinton, Rhanda Hinton (husband) Justin Crum , (niece) Jasmine Coleman, ( nephew) Jayden Coleman She leaves behind a host of family members. Hilda's presence in the lives of her family extended beyond her immediate relatives. She was also cherished by her (niece ) Cassandra Hinton of Kenner, Louisiana, her (niece )Cynthia Stubbs of Metairie, Louisiana which she loved and raised like her daughters and Kerry Coleman ( nephew) of Kenner, Louisiana. Cynthia was an active person in Hilda life she treated her as a daughter. They have a lot of memories from child hood that they would always talk about in Hilda’s later years while she was going through dementia. Hilda would be able to remember a lot from the days they shared together . Hilda had a loving impact in some way to all of her loved ones. Valerie Peterson which whom also Hilda also loved played a major roll in her life. Each of them holds countless memories of Hilda that will forever be treasured. Barton Williams Benedict Jahncke, a cherished resident of New Orleans, passed away on January 7, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and remarkable achievements. Born on August 5, 1939, to Edward Benjamin Jahncke, Sr. and Zidé Bowers Benedict Jahncke, Barton was the epitome of a true gentleman. Barton is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Marcia Wade Jahncke, his children Emily Jahncke Davis Gershon (Andy Gershon), Barton Jahncke, Jr. (Whitney), Bo Huggins (Amy), and the late Wade Huggins (Amy). He leaves a lasting impact on his grandchildren Toulmin, Ella, Betty, Jake, Pete, Tyler, Ben, Kristen, Wade Jr., Maggie, and Katie, as well as great-grandchildren Kate and Madilyn. Barton is also survived by his brother, Edward Benjamin Jahncke, Jr., and nieces and nephew. A graduate of St. Martin's Episcopal High School and Tulane University, Barton had a distinguished career at Lykes Bros. Steamship Company until his retirement. A passionate yachtsman and Olympic Champion, Barton won a gold medal in the 1968 Summer Olympics. His dedication to sailing was recognized with induction into the Tulane University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1986. Beyond his achievements, Barton was known for his boundless love, kindness, and infectious laughter. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, and shipmate, Barton's indomitable spirit will forever resonate in our hearts. The family expresses gratitude to the caregivers at Poydras Home and others who provided unwavering support during his illness. Godspeed, Barton.

Born Jean Caliste on January 26, 1943, Knight's indelible mark on the music industry is celebrated by fans and peers alike. Knight's journey in music began in the early 1960s, singing in her cousin's bar after high school. Despite working as a baker, she released her first song, "Stop Doggin' Me Around," in 1965. Her breakthrough came in 1970 when she collaborated with songwriter Ralph Williams and record producer Wardell Quezergue. This led to her recording the famous song "Mr. Big Stuff" at Malaco Studios in Jackson. Released by Stax Records in 1971, "Mr. Big Stuff" dominated the Billboard Soul Singles chart for five weeks. The song's universal appeal secured her a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance in the Female category in 1972. Despite the success of "Mr. Big Stuff," Knight's career extended beyond Stax Records. She continued to record for various labels, signing with Soulin' label in 1981. Jean Knight's impact reached beyond the charts, earning her place in the Louisiana Music Commission Hall of Fame in 2007. The legacy of this trailblazing artist lives on, and her soulful voice will forever echo in the hearts of listeners.
