AOL’s legendary voice that has welcomed us all online, Elwood Edwards, passed on at 74. Elwood Edwards, a man behind the classic AOL greeting “You’ve got mail,” has died at his home in New Bern, North Carolina. The reason behind his demise was complications from a stroke. He taped his AOL greeting in 1989 on a recorder while sitting in the living room of his home.
