Darlene Perugini

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Darlene E. Perugini. On September 3, 2023, while surrounded by her family, she passed on and reunited with the love of her life, our father Raymond S. Perugini, who preceded her in death in 1973. Our little but mighty mom fought a good battle but lost to lung cancer. Darlene was born in Mount Vernon, NY on October 26, 1944, to the Late Edward and Matilda (Sissy) Keller Classey. She and her family later moved and settled in Beacon Falls, CT. Mom remained in the Valley where she raised her daughters and live the remainder of her life. She loved her little town of Seymour. As a young widow, she held a variety of positions, all of which always included helping people in one capacity or another. She had been a server in many area restaurants, a CNA and a physical therapy assistant in local nursing homes. Of all the titles she held, her favorite ones were Mom, Nana and Nana 2. Darlene was known for her big heart and her willingness to help. Our home was the local hangout and mom called all the neighborhood kids, 'her kids'. Mom was also known for her great cooking ability, taking great joy in decorating for the season and holidays and her love of arts and crafts which she created beautiful, wreaths, decorations and keepsakes. Mom's love for cooking and baking took second place to her love of EATING. Many a holiday or special occasion, Mom would be found sneaking a piece of pie or cake or sampling the cookies. Her answer was always the same two things, "I'm only taking a piece" or "I have to see how it tastes before I can serve it to anyone, I don't want to give them nasty tasting food'. Crinkling tin foil and the beeping of the microwave numbers were an expected sound on Thanksgiving or Christmas nights if she spent the night at our homes. Mom's favorite thing was spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel and spend time with family who didn't live close. Mom often spent summers in Rhode Island with her sister and her family. We are so thankful that she was able to vacation in RI with her sister in August. She is survived by her daughters, Donna (John) Hosking of Ansonia, Sharon (Dave) Perugini of Torrington. Her four granddaughters, Ciana and Abbie Hosking and Alexis and Amanda (Justin) Marxo and her two great grandchildren, Aubrey and Kayden Howard. She is also survived by her brother, Edward (Sheri) Classey of New York and her sister, Jayne (Ollie) Oliver of Rhode Island. She is also survived by her stepchildren and their children: MaryEllen, Nicola, Lisa and Raymond. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends survive her. Darlene will also be missed by her dear friends Domonick and Kathy Bellucci and Lorraine. We welcome family and friends to a celebration of life that be held on her birthday, October 26, 2023 at 10:15 am at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home in Seymour, followed by burial at Calvery Cemetary in Waterbury. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the start of the service at 10:15 am. The family wish to extend thanks to the wonderful care mom received at Bridgeport Hospital throughout her journey and to the Seybridge Pharmacy for all their Services. "Show more
