Gary Eugene Mahaffey

Gary Eugene Mahaffey passed away in Conroe, Texas on February 19, 2024. He was born on May 16,1953 to Frank E. and Ellen M. (Gunn) Mahaffey. He was preceded in his death by his parents and infant sister, Ardith Ann. Gary attended school in Edmond, Oklahoma, Sullivan, Missouri and Casper, Wyoming. He graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in Casper and The University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a degree in Criminal Justice. He served as a Military Police Officer in the Arkansas National Guard and was honorably discharged in November 1973. Gary served as a uniformed member of the Little Rock Police Department where he advanced to detective. After several years with them, he was selected to be a United States Secret Service Agent. He began his career with them at the Field Office in Jackson, Mississippi. He then became part of the George Bush, Sr. Vice Presidential Detail in Washington, DC. He transferred to the Miami, Florida Field Office for several years, followed by another transfer to the Oklahoma Field office until he became the Resident Agent in Charge at the Shreveport field office where he retired from the Secret Service after twenty years. He began a new career with ExxonMobil Global Security in Houston, Texas. He was able to travel the world and made friends all over the globe. He was with them until January, 2021 when he retired after twenty years. After retiring, he transferred his love of horses and the special needs population by volunteering at the Joy Ride Center Therapeutic Riding Center in Magnolia, Texas. It was one of his greatest honors to not only assist those riders each week, but to also serve on their Board of Directors. He also enjoyed assisting New Danville’s thrift store, Jazzy Junque by creating the volunteer calendar each month. He coached Special Olympic basketball, bowling and swimming with the Warriors of the Woodlands. Gary is survived by his wife, Connie, sister Gena Mahaffey Menhusen, daughter Kristen, son Brenton and daughter in law, Hannah. He was thrilled to know he was going to become a Grandfather in July of this year. A visitation for Gary will be held Monday, February 26, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. A funeral service will occur Monday, February 26, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. A graveside will occur Monday, February 26, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM in Garden Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Joy Ride Therapeutic Riding Center, 29550 Tudor Way, Magnolia, Texas 77355 or New Danville, 10951 Shepard Hill Road, Willis, Texas 77318.

Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at First Pentecostal Church in Fred with a 12 noon graveside services following at Fred Community Cemetery in Fred, Texas. Officiating will be her son-in-law, William “Duck” Richter. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Rogers, Ethan Moffett, Dustin Richter, J.D. Crawford, Chaz Tyer, and Enrique Zavala. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Moffett, Justin Moffett, Larry Brister, and Jayden Tyer. Peggy was born October 23, 1950 to Lloyd Jessie Burrows and AnnieLou Maxcine Moore Burrows in Liberty, Texas. A former resident of Romayor, she had lived in Votaw since 2010. Peggy enjoyed quilting, sewing, fishing, hunting and being outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Jessie Burrows and AnnieLou Redd; and sister, Margaret Keen. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ernie Moffett of Votaw; son, Bubba Moffett and wife Deanna of Segno; daughters, Dottie Zwahr and husband Richard of Votaw, Annette Rogers and husband Tim of Colmesneil, Jeanette Freeman and husband William of Fred, and Amanda Richter and husband William “Duck” of Onalaska; brother, Ronnie Burrows and wife Leah of Houston; sisters, Elaine Brister and husband Larry of Cleveland, Angela Hollie and husband Matt of Saratoga, and Nancy White and husband Cary of Conroe; 12 grandchildren, Timothy, Kimberlee, Justin, Destiny, Alysa, Elizabeth, Eryn, Chassity, Ethan, Dustin, Cortni, and Emma; and 11 great grandchildren. Jamie Waymon Hughen, 67, was born in Andrews, Texas, on September 15, 1956; but his home was in Laredo, Texas where his work was located. Jamie worked as Terminal Manager for Lone Star Transportation for 23 and 1/2 years. His work associates were like a second family to Jamie. Jamie loved nature. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his high school friends and family. He belonged to a deer lease for many years with his dad and brother. Jamie loved football and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Jamie also enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas with his sister Cathy. Jamie was a generous, loyal and trustworthy friend. He loved doing for his family and friends. He could always be counted on. He is survived by his father Waymon Hughen, his mother Jean Hughen, and his sister Cathy Hughen. He is also survived by his sister in law Diana Hughen, his nieces Mary Hughen, Abby Hughen, Katy Hughen and her family, and his nephew Dustin Hughen and his family. Jamie was preceded in death by his brother Ricky Hughen. A celebration of life followed by inurnment will take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 2:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303.

"Anthony Francis \u0026quot;Tony\u0026quot; Cherico, beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and veteran of the United States Navy, passed away on February 17, 2024, in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 81. He was born to Frank Cherico and Angela Marie Carpin on April 10, 1942, in Clarion, Pennsylvania. Tony dedicated 37 years of his life to the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad, where his hard work and dedication left an enduring legacy. However, his true legacy lies in the love and memories he shared with his family. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Nancy Cherico, of Conroe, Texas. Nancy was the love of Tony\u0027s life, and together they shared countless adventures, laughter, and cherished moments. Their bond was unbreakable, and Nancy\u0027s presence brought immeasurable joy to Tony\u0027s life. Tony leaves behind a rich tapestry of family, including his sisters Linda and Walter Braun of Trophy Club, Texas, and Betty and Tom Rakovan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His memory will also be cherished by his five children: Tony and Ana Cherico of Rogers, Arkansas; Sean and Karla Cherico of Sedan, Kansas; John Cherico of Eugene, Oregon; Nicole and Darren Wallace of Allen, Texas; and Kelley and Steven Barrett of Spring, Texas. He was a beloved grandfather to Rico, Griffin, Luciano, and Atelen as well as Cameron and Alex, Austin, Channing, Zach, Logan, Ryan, and his great-grandchild, Beckham. Tony adored his grandchildren and found immense joy in spending time with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. In retirement, Tony embraced life\u0027s simple pleasures, enjoying golfing, traveling the world with Nancy, and cherishing precious moments with his grandchildren. Together, he and Nancy lived life to the fullest, cherishing every moment they had together. Tony was a devoted parishioner of St. Simon and Jude in The Woodlands, Texas, where his faith provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life. Tony\u0027s favorite scripture, 2 Timothy 4:7-8, encapsulates his unwavering faith and the fulfillment he found in a life well-lived: \u0026quot;I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Barger, Jason Blevins, Michael Kidd, Terrell Haygood, and Matt Bailey. Lindsey was born October 19, 1955 to Charles Olan and Dorothy Chambless in Marshall, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Tyler County and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Lindsey was a friend to all and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Olan Britnell; stepfather, Ralph Harrell; sister, Ava Britnell Barlow; Ma Maw Beatrice Lee; nieces, Audra and Ellisa; and several other family members. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marilyn Britnell of Warren; mother, Dorothy Powell and husband Sherman of Woodville; stepdaughter, Rhonda Clifford and husband Calvin of Warren; grandson, Calvin L. Clifford III (Trey) of Warren; brothers, Rodney Britnell and wife Paula of Winnie, and Phillip Britnell and girlfriend Misty, who Lindsey always considered as a sister-in-law of Ivanhoe; sisters, Jan Kendall and husband Scott of Georgetown, and Iris Hensarling and husband Stanley of Hillister, and Frances Baker and husband John of Warren.
