It is with great sadness that the family of Winston Paul Thomas Skinner, 63, of Blue Rocks announces his passing on Monday, May 08, 2023 at home with his family by his side Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Eli and Rita (Crant) Skinner. Winston started his working career at High Liner Foods for 21 years, then worked various jobs until he went on to work at Stelia where he worked for the last 16 years. Winston was a quiet guy who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with his family and friends, camping, enjoying his 70's music and those who knew him realized his love for sports as an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Steelers and anything wrestling. His love of life, family, friends and the community at large, were so important to Winston. Winston is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Ryan (Ashley), Blue Rocks; his adored grandson, William, brothers, Kevin of Blockhouse; Boyd (Rose) Skinner of Middlewood; uncle, Chesley (Doreen) Skinner, Bridgewater; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and cousins and his canine companion, Bella. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Betty Bush, and brother, Ricky. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg where a memorial service to celebrate Winston's life will be held on Friday at 2:00 P. M. , Rev. Patrick Bright, officiating. Interment will be in the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lunenburg County Pro Kids, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Winston's care team, Krista Knickle, Dr. Michel Samson, Dr. Heather Robertson, Dr. Catherine Kelly, Lunenburg County VON, South Shore Palliative Care, Cancer Care Coordinator and the many others for their wonderful care shown to Winston during this past year. As a family we don't know how we would have done it without your care, compassion and understanding.
