Brett A. Dargis, 57, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and dearest friends on Sunday, December 3, at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Brett was born on February 13, 1966, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Sally (Boese) now of Groveland, FL and the late Leon Dargis. He was married to the love of his life, Rebecca (Tullos) Dargis, whom he married on a sunny St. Thomas, V. I. beach in August 1999. He was the devoted and beloved father to: Blake, Connor, Dylan, and Evan Dargis, all of Clermont, FL. He is also survived by little brothers Kurt, of Weatogue, CT, Ryan (Moira), of Oak Park, IL, and Andrew (Nhu) of Saginaw, MI. And, of course, he was dearest uncle to a multitude of nephews and nieces from around the country. Brett attended and graduated in 1984 from Rogers High School in Michigan City before attending Indiana University, graduating in 1989. After beginning his 30 plus year career in commercial real estate acquisition, development, and construction in Beverly Hills, CA, Brett moved to Central Florida in 1997, where he met and fell in love with Rebecca. They settled in the Clermont area to raise their four boys and grow a tight circle of cherished friends. Professionally, Brett worked at CNL Restaurants, GE Capital Franchise Finance and US Restaurant Properties. He also spent two years running the construction and development program for PDQ Restaurants. He additionally founded and managed BRD Investment Associates, a real estate advisory firm specializing in helping investors with their property evaluation, acquisition, and construction. At the time of his death, Brett was the Director of Construction and Development at V3 Capital Group. Brett was a devoted Christian, and member of Real-Life Church in Clermont. He also was active supporting his community. He was a board member for Covenant House Florida, where he contributed his real estate and business skills with their cause in supporting youth and families with the acute housing needs within the state. In addition, Brett was an Usher in his church, coached a variety of youth athletics, and supported the homeless as well as everyone else around him. Brett adored his wife, his boys, his family and circle of friends. He loved spending time outdoors and everything about fishing, from the early days at Leech Lake, MN, to numerous lakes, streams, and ponds wherever he lived, to the Gulf of Mexico. He was an avid reader, runner and champion jerky stick maker. He cherished boating, being on the water, the long, cold days of hunting with his boys, and traveling with his family and close friends. Brett will be sorely missed but his legacy of loving life and people, always looking on the bright side, working hard and having fun at the same time will live on forever. .Show more
