P. William "Bill" Wenning, 85, of Greensburg passed away on October 6, 2023. He was born on June 4, 1938 in Greensburg, Indiana the son of Paul C. and Dorotha Perry Wenning. Bill was a 1956 graduate of Greensburg High School and Butler University graduate with a B. A. in 1962 and a M. S. in 1967. He taught Mathematics at Greensburg Community High School for 38 years retiring in 2000. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Greensburg Optimist Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Greensburg Country Club, and was a Greensburg High School Hall of Famer. Survivors include: Brother, Gene (Cheryl) Wenning of Norristown, PA; Sister, Judy Wenning of Manhattan, NY; Nephews, Gene Jr. (Lisa) Wenning and Gregory (Barbara) Wenning; Great Niece Jordan Wenning and Great Nephew, Zachary Wenning. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Fiance, Holly Sue Peters; and Brother, James Wenning. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral at 1:00 pm. Pastor Jon Porter will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Decatur County Community Foundation. Lester George Gay, 89, passed away in his home on November 27th. Lester was a life-long resident of Decatur County. A country boy from Adams, Korean War Veteran, police officer, gardener, photographer, storyteller, and history buff. He was the son of William Gay and Irene (Seitz) Gay. Lester was a graduate of St Paul High School, class of 1952. He started his adult life with his military service in the US Navy. Lester served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany with his brothers Bob and Harold through 1956. He always said he had the best job as the ship's photographer capturing the action of the carrier and the fun of his crewmates and brothers. There are many photos and colorful stories from this memorable time. Shortly after his military discharge, he began employment with Boones sheet metal before entering Ray Vogue Photography school in Chicago. He started Gays' Studio on the square in 1959 closing the studio in 1968. He continued with a wedding photography business through 1983. Lester met his life partner Doris Foist on a blind date. Dating for 6 months, they married in December 1959. They were blessed to celebrate 63 years of marriage. They are parents to Wanda and Keith. Lester started his employment with the Greensburg Police Department in 1967. He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1969, a member of the inaugural class. He served the ranks of patrolman, lieutenant, detective and becoming Chief in 1975. Before his retirement from the force in 1989, Lester was able to serve his last day as an Officer with his son Keith. Retirement for Lester included part time jobs, traveling to small towns for Doris' genealogy research and collecting USS Oriskany articles and photos. Every day, Lester would spend time in his workshop while enjoying a cigar. He was an avid WWII history buff. He will be remembered for his great storytelling of his youth, military, and law enforcement days. Lester was preceded in death by his wife Doris in June of this year, his parents, brothers: Robert Gay and Harold Gay, and sister Winona Simmons. He is survived by son Keith, Daughter Wanda (Mike) Deiwert, Grandchildren, Brandon Gay, Kyle Deiwert, Tyler Deiwert, Mara (Chance) Jones, and Sarah Deiwert. Great grandchildren, NovaLee Gay, Gracelynn Deiwert, and Emma Isroff, his sister Janet Wilson, and many nephews and nieces. Visitation will occur at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, IN on Monday Dec 4, from 11am until time of funeral services at 1 pm. Burial to immediately follow at South Park Cemetery. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joshua (Josh) Craig Workman, a cherished resident of Greensburg, Indiana, who departed from us at the age of 46. Josh originally hailed from Rising Sun, Indiana, and leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. A dedicated and loving father, Josh leaves behind a legacy of two wonderful sons and his beloved fiancee. He was a true craftsman in his trade as a welder, dedicating several years to perfecting his skills and creating lasting pieces of art through his work. Beyond his profession, Josh was a man of many passions. He found immense joy in working on cars, a skill that not only brought satisfaction but also allowed him to bond with friends and family over shared interests. His love for the outdoors led him to become an avid hunter, where he found solace and connection with nature. Yet, above all else, Josh was a devoted family man. His fondest memories were created through the moments he shared with his loved ones. He cherished every second spent with his family, creating lasting bonds and cherished memories. Joshua Workman is preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Workman, and his beloved Grandfather, Charles Workman. He is survived by his fiancee, Crystal Edwards, and his two sons, Cody Workman and LJ Workman. His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren, Neveah Workman and Ryder Workman. He leaves behind a loving family, including his father, Terrance Workman, and his siblings: Amber Workman, Jacki Harris, Nichole Lozier, Billiejo Schnebelt, April Lutterbeck, and his brother, Ronnie Hansmann. Together, they share in the grief of losing Josh, but also in the enduring love and precious memories that will forever connect them. Josh's absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit and the love he shared with his family and friends will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, and may his memory forever be a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Reba Irene Gray, of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Aspen Place Health Campus. The daughter of Chester Paul and Etta Mae 'Edie' (Shoopman) Dicken was born on November 14, 1927 in Hartsville, IN. She was 95 years old. The 1946 St. Paul High School graduate was a long-time member of New Point Christian Church where she regularly attended Sunday School as well as church, for many years. Reba worked in Greensburg, originally for G. C. Murphy Company before going to work for the grocery stores in town, IGA, Lo-Bill, Marsh and Needler's as they changed names over time. Reba had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed scrap booking, gardening and tending to her flowers. She did a lot of sewing, making clothes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren in addition to quilting, embroidery, crochet and ceramics. The avid reader also liked to watch old movies and did a lot of canning when the produce was ready. Of course, she decorated year round for all of the holidays, but Christmas was her favorite. Basically, Reba was always busy doing something. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Linda Burke (the late Marion); three granddaughters, Tammi Taylor (Chris), Jennifer Lewis, Danielle Bocanegra; six great grandchildren, Joshua Fry (Cassandra Lamping), Jeremiah Fry (Jodi Muckerheide), Jacob Phillips (Kayla), Landon Phillips (Kaylynn Baluyot), Sierra Phillips (Jordan Smiley), Sarah Swain; two great-great grandchildren, Rylen Phillips, Millie Smiley; two brothers, Larry Dicken (Diane), Lonnie Dicken (Chris); one sister, Karen Boggs; brother-in-law, George Dixon; sister-in law, Barbara Dicken; and several step- great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gray; siblings, Alona Anne Dicken, Thelma Eidelman, Jeannie Smith, Pauline Dickson, Bobby Dicken, Howard Dicken and Randall Dicken; plus, her son-in-law Marion Burke and brothers-in-law, Robert Boggs and Solomon Edelman. Private services will be held Friday, September 26, 2023 at Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will be the Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, IN. Dennis Spears and Jacobs Phillips officiating. Loretta (Ramer) Colson, 89, passed away on September 14, 2023. She was born on September 9, 1934 the daughter of Millard and Jewel (Bate) Ramer. Loretta was a 1952 graduate of Greensburg High School. She married John Lewis Colson on June 28, 1952 and together they had four children: Ronald, Cheryle, Kevin and Lora. Loretta was a homemaker, mother, and a "Nena"; she was known for lovingly sewing many things for her family. For several years, she was a babysitter in her home, for many children, all to whom she loved as if they were her own. Loretta was a member of the Home Ec Club and the former Mt. Pleasant Church. She was a Loving Mother and Nena and will be missed by: her Children, Ron (Sandi) Colson, Cheryle (Jim) Hampton; Kevin (Annette Niehoff) Colson and Lora (Peter) Oliger; Grandkids, Ryan Morlan, Jody Miller, Kriss Hampton, Nick Colson, Mike Colson, Emily Colson, Kris Colson, Lezly Colson, Casy Oliger and Brady Oliger; Great Grandchildren, Mykenzie and Madisyn Morlan, Zach and Hailey Keppel, Lauren and Leah Miller, Jordan Hampton, Zara Morehouse, Brayden and Damion Colson, Oliver and Delilah Colson, Maslynn Oliger, Jayden Smith, Savanna Haley and Janie Follmer.
