Sarah Jane Johns, 98, formerly of Shawnee, KA, passed away February 22, 2024 at her son’s home in Fort Wayne, IN, where she resided for the past 14 years. She was born, October 3, 1925, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Frederick W. and Esther Josephine (Munson) Miller. She graduated in 1943 from Southwest High School Kansas City, MO. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Mary Ann) Johns, grandson Kelly (Ashley) Johns both of Fort Wayne, IN; and, great granddaughters, Emma, Raegan. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William L. Johns, and a great granddaughter, Morgan. Funeral Services will be pending at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO. Burial will be at Floral Hills Cemetery. Doris A. Rogers, 86, Marion, met her Lord and Savior at 5:29 am on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday, September 16, 1937, to Ervin and Jane Roth.  On June 30, 1956, she married the love of her life and best friend, Tony W. Rogers, who survives.   Doris graduated from Marion High School in 1956. She was a secretary for both the Marion Water Works and Ross Supply. She attended Grace Community Church.Doris loved to do crafts and had attended many craft shows over the years. She also enjoyed shopping and going to rummage sales. Doris was a wonderful cook, and she enjoyed cooking for her family, especially at Christmas time. She had a great sense of humor and shared many laughs with friends and family over the years. More than anything, Doris was devoted to her family as a loving wife of 68 years, a wonderful mother, and an adoring grandmother.  In addition to her loving husband, Tony Rogers, survivors include her daughters, Sandy Rogers Kimmel of Marion and Shelly Rogers of Swayzee; son, Tony W. Rogers, II, of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Dr. Eric R. Kimmel of Fort Wayne, Lyndsay (Jake) Stratton of Indianapolis, and Tony W. Rogers, III, of Indianapolis; brother, Dr. Charles (Toni) Roth of Montreal, Canada; sister, Judy Fitzgerald of Shelbyville; several nieces, nephews, and friends; her beloved dog, Sadie; plus her ladies card club and church friends.She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant daughter, Linda Rogers.The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Doris' life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Donnie H. Melvin, 73, of Albion, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born on Oct 11, 1950, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Homer and Vera (Eckels) Melvin. He was a farmer for most of his life and enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He loved hanging out with his cats. On Jan. 8, 1977, at Trinity Church, he married Allegra Keister Survivors include his wife, Allegra Melvin, of Albion; daughter, Holly Melvin, of Kendallville; and sister, Bonnie (Tom) Marks, of Albion. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Van Alton Melvin and Kenneth Melvin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, Feb 26, 2024, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road. Pastor Bret Frymier will officiate. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 11 a.m., until time of the funeral service. Burial will be at Rehobeth Cemetery, rural Albion. Ruth Ann Braun

After a difficult battle with cancer, Ruth Ann Braun of Ft. Wayne, IN passed away on February 18, 2024. Ruth, hard-working and dedicated mother of 4, was born on February 6, 1947, to Clarence and Madeline Heimann in Decatur, IN. While working full time for United Telephone and raising her children, she went back to school to finish her degree in English Literature. Reading was her passion, especially the classics. She was a member of the same book club for over 25 years. After retiring, Ruth had more time to participate in community programs such as yoga and tai chi. Ruth was a season ticket holder for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and a champion of the arts. Ruth’s greatest pride was her 6 grandchildren. From trips to the zoo and the Chicago Institute of Art to baking cookies and playing games at home, her grandkids were her favorite people in the world. Sporting events, school musicals, orchestra concerts, or just sitting on the couch watching video games, she was there to cheer on her grandchildren. Ruth was quiet, but not shy. She was an excellent listener. She was intelligent, witty, and full of integrity. She was generous and donated to many causes within Fort Wayne. She loved music and attended many concerts. Ruth also loved going to dinner and spending time with her longtime companion, Carlos Bradley. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Madeline Heimann, her sisters, Rita Heimann and Norma (Dick) Stimpson. She is survived by her brother, David (Janet) Heimann, her sister Mary Louise (Jack) Baxter, her 4 children, Mark Braun, Jana (Josh) Cable, Stephanie Dale, Kim (Jeremy) Selzer and her 6 grandchildren, Bella and Henry Cable, Max and Josie Dale, Penn and Nash Selzer. Memorial contributions in Ruth's honor may be given to the Allen County Public Library or The Philharmonic. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
