William Trudgen Obituary

United States Army veteran and retired professor, William "Bill" Trudgen, 74, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from the Virginia Veterans Care Center, in Roanoke, VA. Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Roberts Wesleyan University and enlisted in the United States Army after graduation. He honorably served for three years and then focused his efforts in ministry, where he served as pastor of two churches before reenlisting in the Army as a commissioned officer and chaplain. He served honorably for six years active duty and was a proud veteran of the Persian Gulf War. After separation, he served in several churches, attained three Ph. D's and taught as a professor at two universities. Bill loved to read and play strategic military style games. He was always eager for a good debate and would often converse with strangers over any subject at hand. He displayed a calm and easy demeaner that made him easy to like and embrace. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn; son, Steffan; daughter, Suzette; and grandchildren, Mekayla, Nathaniel, and Cyrus. Interment will be held at a later date in Southwest Virginia Veteran's Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia.
