William Sutton Obituary

William H. Sutton III passed away on April 21, 2023, after a battle with heart failure. His final days were spent with family and friends by his side at Woodland Hospice. He leaves behind a son, James Sutton (husband Rowan) of Grand Rapids MI, and a daughter Lisa Sutton (wife GiGi), grandchildren, Sam, Harper, and Keegan Smith of East Lansing MI. He is survived by brothers Richard of Mesa AZ, and Thomas of Lexington KY. William was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou, parents, siblings Edie May and Donald. He was born in Evansville Indiana to Donald and Edith (Garton) Sutton November 21, 1945. Bill, as he was known, was a life-long athlete, playing baseball, basketball, and football through school. He played fast-pitch softball all the way to age 50 and golfed through the final years of his life. Bill attended MSU for two years. He served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969. He married the love of his life Mary Lou Graham on July 26, 1969. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage. He was employed by Dow Chemical for 30 years. In his spare time, he also enjoyed woodworking, and vacationing in Appalachia with Mary Lou. Cremation has taken place at Daisy Hill Crematory A Memorial Gathering for Bill will be held from 2-5 p. m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodland Hospice House. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.
