Edward Raymond Stepnoski, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023. He was born on August 8, 1932, in Southampton, N. Y. , to the late Bruno and Sophie Stepnoski. He was predeceased by his eldest son Edward William Stepnoski and grandson Kevin Boone Stepnoski of Fuquay-Varina. Ed graduated from the Academy of Aeronautics, NY, in 1953 and was employed by Wright Aeronautical in experimental jet engine assembly. In 1954 he was drafted into the Army. After his tour of duty, he was employed by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp. in Riverhead, NY. His expertise in aviation led him to a position as Field Service Representative for Grumman Aircraft whose planes were used by the Army, Marines, and Navy. In working with these services, Ed and his family lived in New York, Maryland, Alabama, North Carolina, and California as well as Germany for four years. Ed had two tours of duty in Vietnam with Marine squadrons and an 8-month tour of duty with the Navy on the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise, the first deployment of the Grumman Tomcat, the F14. Ed retired in 1991 as Grumman Area Manager at Cherry Point Marine Corp. Air Station. Ed was a life member of the Knights of Columbus serving a term as Grand Knight and then as Treasurer for nine years. He was an avid trap shooter at the Craven County Law Enforcement Officers Association. He enjoyed sailing and woodworking, was a cryptogram enthusiast, and over the years was involved in many charitable programs. Ed was a true "Mr. Fix-It" and always ready to lend a helping hand. Ed was very devoted to his family and enjoyed all of our many family gatherings and celebrations. He never turned down an opportunity to enjoy a Scotch with his family on special occasions. Ed is survived by his wife, Sadie, of 65 years, his daughter Lynn Brinkley (Steve) of Dacula, GA, his two sons James (Renee) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Eric (Carrie) of Raleigh, NC, and daughter-in-law Lydia Stepnoski of Fuquay-Varina, NC. Grandchildren Anna Bryant (David) of Portland, TN, Stephen Brinkley (Sophia) of Savannah, GA, Virginia Brinkley of Murrayville, GA; Allison Stepnoski of Willow Springs, NC; James and Tyler Stepnoski of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Alex and Abbie Stepnoski and step-granddaughters Kaylee and Abbie Saaranen of Raleigh, NC; two great-grandchildren David Elijah and Taylor Rae Bryant of Portland, TN. The funeral will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Friday, December 15, 2023, with Father Steven officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass. Funeral arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home. Swansboro- Howard James Littleton, 63, passed away November 26, 2023 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern. He was born October 31, 1960 in St. Mary's County, Maryland. He worked for 34 years at Coca-Cola, and owned Go-Fish Lawn Service in retirement. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, at 12:00pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro with Pastor Robert Hall officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, December 4th, from 6-8pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro with a graveside service to follow on the family property. Howard was a loving son, father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend. He truly loved family and life. He found joy in hunting, college basketball, fishing, music, westerns and classic tv shows, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his Hardee's crowd. In the last three and a half years of his life, Howard was made a grandfather and found his true calling. "Boompa", as he was known, was the most loving, caring, and fun grandfather Finley could have ever had. In the time he wasn't with Finley, he spent it planning their future adventures. Anyone who saw them together was witness to their singular and exceptional bond. He is survived by his wife, Sue Gillette Littleton of the home; sons, Matthew James Littleton of Swansboro, and Kyle Anthony Littleton of Swansboro; brother, Bruce Eric Littleton of Swansboro; Grandson, Finley James Littleton; daughter-in-law, Keri Colbert Littleton of Swansboro; and cousins and other in-laws. James "Jim" W. Creech of Trent Woods, N. C. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on November 27, 2023. Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Sutton Creech; son, John (Judi) of Greensboro, N. C. ; stepchildren Stephen Carpenter of Washington D. C. ; Kathy Powell of Wilmington, N. C. ; Jo Harding (Chris) of Apex, N. C. ; Myra Hall (Stephen) of Trent Woods, N. C. in addition to several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and son, Paul Creech. Jim was born on May 23, 1924, in Hendersonville, N. C. to John Edwood and Minnie Jane Bryan Creech. He graduated from Flat Rock, N. C. High School, and Mars Hill College. Jim then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 stationed in Northern France and Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for "Notorious Achievement in Ground Combat Against the Armed Enemy. " Jim moved to New Bern in 1969 as controller of the power tools division of the Stanley Works. When Robert Bosch GMBH acquired the operation, he continued as Corporate Controller of the Robert Bosch Power Tool Corporation until his retirement in 1990. Jim served in several county organizations over the year including Director and President of the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Craven County Committee of 100, Commissioner of the Town of Trent Woods and Member and Officer of the New Bern Civitan Club. His main commitment to Public Service was at the Coastal Carolina Airport Authority where he served for 25 years as a member and as Chairman for 10 of those years. A memorial service will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church in Downtown New Bern on Tuesday, December 5 at 1:00 p. m. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. A private family burial will take place later.
