He was a chef for many restaurants along the shore for many years then, worked as manager of Molding Technologies. Services will be private for family. William is survived by his parents Vera and William Stoner Sr, Brother Michael T Stoner and his wife Lisa, Niece Hannah L Stoner and great niece Briella. Lewis R. Guenther Jr, 81, of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loving family, on November 20, 2023. Born on February 10, 1942 in Trenton, New Jersey, Lewis was the son of the late Lewis R. Guenther Sr. and Leona (Ross) Guenther. Having grown up in Clinton, Connecticut, Lewis graduated from Morgan High School in 1960. He then went on to get his Bachelor's Degree in History and Art History from UCONN in 1964. He worked for Pratt and Whitney/United Technologies in Purchasing for 34 faithful years, and always said "he never had a bad day" he loved his job, the traveling and aircraft industry, he retired in 1999. Lewis married the love of his life, his wife Barbara (Lester) Guenther, in 1964. They spent 59 happy years together, building a home and a family. Lewis had many hobbies over the years, the Back River behind his home was the center of it all. He loved boating, fishing and yard work. In recent years, "Slip" enjoyed cruising around Saybrook in his red pickup truck and spending winters in Englewood, Florida with family and friends. Above all else, Lewis found his joy in spending time with his family and friends, those he held closest in his heart. Lewis is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, and his children Dick Guenther and wife Wendy of Old Lyme, John Guenther and wife Anne of Old Lyme, and Becky Guenther of Old Saybrook. Grandchildren Hannah, Sam, Dan, Emma, Maddie, Margo and Hazel. His Twin brother Robert Guenther and wife Jan of Niantic. A private ceremony will be held by the family.Show more

Robert John Raplee, 86, passed away on November 8, 2023 after a brief battle with bone cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 30, 1937 and was a long-time resident of Woodhaven, NY; Beverly Hills, FL; and Boiling Springs, PA. Bob enjoyed a career in the travel and leisure industry that spanned more than 40 years. He was also deeply involved in Christian ministry, participating in a supporting role in conjunction with his father-in-law at the Bowery Mission in New York City, working together with his wife in youth work in Queens, NY with Christian Youth Fellowship, and serving on the board of trustees for Sunshine Acres, a Christian camp for children located in Napanoch, NY. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Jane (Buchholtz) Raplee; his children Charlene (Alex) Zuljevic of Richmond Hill, NY, John Raplee of Woodhaven, NY, and Jane (Trevor) Nichols of Old Saybrook, CT; and his grandchildren, Tyler Nichols, Zachary Nichols and Dorothy Zuljevic; and brother Alan D. Raplee, of Toms River, NJ. He is predeceased by his sister-in-law, Marlene (Stewart) Raplee, and brother- and sister-in law Kenneth and Marilyn (Buchholtz) DuCasse. Interment will be at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY with a private ceremony for family and friends, and a Celebration of Life service will be scheduled in Carlisle, PA at a later date. Richard R. "Dick" Hermanson, 79, of Old Saybrook, CT passed away from cancer on Thursday, October 25, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. Dick and his twin sister Cheryl were born in Hartford, CT on July 18, 1944 to the late Robert W. and Eleanor J. Hermanson. He is survived by his wife, Irmtraud "Irmy" Hermanson of Old Saybrook, his twin sister Cheryl Olsson (Lennart) of Linkoping, Sweden, his brother Bill Hermanson (Mary Lou) of East Lyme, CT and his sister-in-law Brigitte Steeg of Germany. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Magnus, Katie and Erik Olsson; and Eric Hermanson, his wife Erika and their daughter Jade. Raised in Wethersfield, CT, Dick was a standout athlete at Wethersfield High School where he played all four years on both the soccer and baseball teams. He graduated from WHS in 1962 and later graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1966. Dick had a long and successful career with The Hartford Insurance Co. during which time he and Irmy lived mostly in South Windsor, CT. In this capacity, Dick and Irmy were able to travel extensively and see most of the country on business trips. He retired from his position as an Officer in the Bond Department at The Hartford in 1997 at the age of 53 and moved to Old Saybrook four years later. Dick was a passionate sports fan who closely followed UConn basketball (he was a college roommate of UConn basketball great Toby Kimball), the Hartford Whalers where he was a season ticket holder, the Washington Redskins, Formula 1 Racing and World Cup Soccer. He also loved to follow competitive golf closely - at both the professional and the amateur levels. He was an avid golfer himself and a long-time member at Ellington Ridge Country Club and then Wethersfield Country Club. Along the way on his many business trips, Dick managed to play most of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the country usually with clients. The family would like to thank the aides, nurses and doctors at Middlesex Hospital for their amazing level of compassion and care.
