William Bruce Scranage, 79 of Auburn, passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughter and family on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He succumbed to severe injuries from an automobile accident while driving his beloved 1937 Supercharged Cord Beverly in the ACD Car Club's annual Hoosier Tour on August 30, 2023 near Noblesville, Indiana. His "steady girlfriend" of nine years, Carolyn "Punki" Shelton was by his side that day and is presently recovering from an orthopedic injury. He was born on February 25, 1944 in Auburn to John Milton and Agnes (Smoker) Scranage. He grew up with his three brothers on the family farm on the Old Auburn Road in Ashley. Bruce was a 1962 graduate of Ashley High School. While in high school he was the FFA King of DeKalb County and throughout his life he supported the youth who competed in cattle shows at the DeKalb County Fair in Auburn. He also helped make the construction of the new show barn at the fairgrounds possible. He went on to attend Purdue University with his best friend, Jim Ankney and graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Business. Bruce honorably served his state and his country in the Indiana Army National Guard out of Fort Wayne. In his younger years Bruce worked at the A&W in Angola and he worked at Zollner Piston in the summers to be able to pay his own way through college. Later he ran a fertilizer company in Walnut Grove, Illinois before coming back to Auburn to teach sixth grade at McKenney-Harrison Elementary School. After teaching, Bruce spent over 50 years in the real estate business. First, he was with Allen Graber Realty before purchasing Wible Real Estate in Auburn with Alice McDonald. He and his business partner, Norm Rohm also owned and operated NB Properties. Bruce was very active in the community and always willing to give back in many ways. He served on the board of the DeKalb Humane Society as well as being a member of the Rod and Gun Club and the Auburn Elks. Over the years he supported his alma mater, Purdue University, as well as Trine University, the DeKalb Humane Society and many other beneficial organizations. He especially enjoyed supporting Living With Hope Ministry and his daughter's and granddaughter's mission work in Kenya with this organization. He loved and collected cars, race cars, boats, antique tractors. . . really anything with an engine. He liked going to auto races and his support of funny car driver, Del Worsham was instrumental to his success in NHRA. Survivors include: His daughter and son-in-law; Jodi and Andrew Van Veld of Fort Wayne. Two grandchildren; Jacob and Kaylee Van Veld and Emily Van Veld. Several loving nieces, nephews and other extended family members that loved him very much. Bruce was thankful for the friendship and nine year marriage to his high school sweetheart, Julia Ann Albright and for the wonderful gift of his daughter, Jodi that this marriage produced. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister-in-law; Dan Scranage, Al and Virginia Scrange and Mike Scranage, two nephews; John Scranage and Steve Scranage and his companion of 38 years; Jackie Smith who passed away in 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Burris officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Fairfield Cemetery north of Corunna. Memorial Donations may be given in Bruce's memory to the DeKalb Humane Society, 5730 CR 11A, Auburn, Indiana 46706. Rita Frances Schlimgen, age 92, went peacefully home into the arms of her Lord on December 1st, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 14, 1931, to Anton and Florentina "Florence" (Breunig) Ballweg in Roxbury, WI. Rita was married to Bernard (Bernie) Schlimgen on February 19, 1955, and together raised their 5 children in Waukesha, WI. Rita and Bernie spent their retirement years in Mission, TX where they both enjoyed golfing. During these years Rita celebrated 3 holes-in-one! Whether at church, school or the neighborhood community center, Rita could always be found blessing others by volunteering her time and talents. After Bernie's passing in 2012, Rita relocated to Noblesville, IN, to be close to her daughter Sandy and her family. Sandy and her husband, Mike, graciously took Rita in to live with them until 2015 when Rita became a resident at Riverwalk Commons in Noblesville. In 2021, Rita became a resident at Allisonville Meadows Memory Care Unit, where like everywhere she went, she was loved by all. Rita enjoyed being with family most, from cross country trips with Bernie to visit their children and families scattered across the country to celebrating life with grand and great grandchildren. She loved being a mom and grandmother and will be missed by all. The family would like to thank Katrina and the staff at Allisonville Meadows Memory Care for the love and compassion they showed to her. Rita is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Mike) WeWora of Noblesville IN; sons, Dave (Mickie) of Camarillo CA, Mark (Lisa) of Austin TX, Keith (Tami) of Groton CT and Greg (Jean) of Waukesha WI; her grandchildren, Michelle, Nicholle (Marc), Danielle (Mike), Tony (Kristi), Justin (Sarah), Ashley (Andy), Joel, Robin (Kestrel), Jeremy, Josh (Kristina), Christopher, Katie (Adam) and Amanda (TJ); great-grandchildren, Sage, Cade, Morgan, Owen, Eli, Julia, Alayna, Colton, Makensey, Kenadee, Connor, Keller, Anabel, Ariana, Kaitlyn, Aidan, Alexis, Matthew, Hailey, Myleigh, Kara, Amanda, Nora, Madison, and Olivia; her sister, Bernadine "Bernie" (Richard) Mueller; sisters-in-law, Catherine and Lydia Ballweg, RaeJean Schlimgen; many nieces and nephews and friends. Rita was preceded in death by her husband Bernie; grandchildren Matthew, Jenny, Jared, Steven; and great-grandson Luke; her parents; brothers Henry, Leonard and Sylvester Ballweg; sisters, Barbara Cooper and Marie Drolshagen; sister-in-law, Frances "Fran" Michels-Beuthin; and brothers-in-law, Lawrence, Edwin, Norbert and Bob Schlimgen. Edwin C. Savage III, 50, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Riverview Health in Noblesville, Indiana. He was born on August 1, 1973, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ed was a police officer serving Indianapolis, and a retired Captain serving Whitestown Police Department. Throughout his 30-year law enforcement career, he also served at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy as a firearm and driving instructor. He was a loyal and hardworking servant to his community. In his second career post law enforcement, Ed served as Director of Global Sales Engineering for an IT firm out of California. Ed was well read, a real know-it-all, larger than life, and was always the smartest person in the room. He was the most understanding and forgiving person, and you never had to question where you stood with him. Above all, he was the provider and protector of all his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, friends, and pets. He loved animals and had a strong passion for technology and IT security. Being impeccably smart, he made being a computer guru look easy. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Savage; father, Edwin Savage, Jr. ; children, Whitney (Anthony Henson), Taylor, Dylan, and Evan Savage; grand-daughter, Aurora Roberts-Savage; step-children, Olivia Clark (David Conder), and Alex Clark (Josie O’Brien); in-laws, David and Nancy Duncan; and his dogs, Chloe, Oliver, Ivy, and cat Linda. Thomas "Tommy" F. Yetman, 104, of Noblesville, Indiana peacefully passed away on November 29, 2023. He was born July 8, 1919 to parents Percy and Elizabeth Julia (nee Gribbin) Yetman in Douglas, Isle of Man. At age 3 he came to live in Cleveland, Ohio. Tommy served in WWII in the Army/Air Force Armament Division. He was stationed in England, France, Austria and Italy as a member of the 454th Bomb Squadron and the 323rd Bomb Group. He served from 1941 to 1945 before returning to Cleveland. He is survived by his loving daughters, Wendy Fenelon (Tom Cajka), and Randy Carey; loving son, Raymond (Dede); nieces, Kathy Gliva (Ed), and Barb Holliman (Chris); along with many great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by 5 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 6 great-grandsons; and 6 great-granddaughters. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Roberta (nee Watson); sisters, Edith May (nee Pierce), and Margaret (nee Glunt). He appreciated all of the love and care from his family especially his grandson, Eric and Eric’s wife, Frannie, along with all the great people from the assisted care at the Lodge, and Harbor Manor in Noblesville, IN. Paul Victor Lake, 88, of Noblesville, Indiana passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 23rd, 2023. Born September 12th, 1935 in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, he was the son of Russell and Freda Lake of Leesburg, Florida. Paul graduated from Prairie Du Chien High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin Platteville and Master's Degree in Botany from Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He worked at Eli Lilly and Company in Greenfield, Indiana for 29 years as a Bacteriologist in Plant Biologics, Animal Biologics and finally as a Systems Analyst retiring in 1993. After retirement, Paul was involved in creating and was the treasurer of Rawhide Western Dance Club for many years. He traveled annually to Panama City, Florida and Tucson, Arizona. Most recently he lived half the year in The Villages, Florida. Paul was grateful to have the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally. He loved spending time in the warm weather in the Villages, making new friends and socializing with old friends. He enjoyed his church family, western dancing, studying history, watching sports and auto racing, playing golf, admiring impressionism art and watching old movies especially westerns. Paul was very proud to be a United States Veteran and wore his US Army hat proudly. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the White Chapel Church. Paul will always be remembered for his love and devotion for his family and friends. Survivors include his fiancé, Nancy Ritchey of Noblesville, Indiana; daughters, Carrie (Lake) Southern of Charlotte, Michigan and Susan (Lake) Bretz of Fishers, Indiana; and son, David Paul Lake of Carmel, Indiana. He had eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Freda Lake; his wife of 53 years, Janet Louise (Roth) Lake; and his brother, Gordon Lake. Celebration of Life will be held at the White Chapel Church, 5155 E. 116th Street, Carmel, Indiana 46032 on December 14th, 2023 with visitation from 10am-12pm and service immediately following. Timmy Lee "Tim" "The Bear" Haskett, 76, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at his home. He was born on October 3, 1947 to Richard and Laura (Cook) Haskett in Noblesville, Indiana. Tim proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as Automotive Operations Manager and consultant for several dealerships in the Indianapolis area and was a highly certified collision industry I-Car professional. Tim was an avid golfer, scoring a hole-in-one 2 different times! He hosted a radio program and loved the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts. Tim loved watching his grandkids' sporting events and loved spending time with his family. He was also involved in prison ministry programs.
