William Sanford 82, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, October 5, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. Born July 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles Sanford and Emma Drury Sanford. He was a member of Bohon Christian church and he retired from Hallmack as a manufacturing manager. William loved watching Nascar, watching UK basketball games, racing cars and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his beloved wife, Doris Cheatham Sanford, one son; Stephen (Sherri) Sanford of Clermont, Florida, one daughter; Terri (Scott) Bivins of Lawrenceburg, three brothers; Darrell (Sue) Sanford of Nicholasville; Gary (Kathy) Sanford of Harrodsburg and Harold (Ann) Sanford of Texas, one sister: Carol Pinkston of Harrodsburg, three grandchildren; Brian (Heather) Royalty; Nicole (Kenneth) Monroe; Carrie (Chris) Leonardo, three great grandchildren; Nick Royalty; Katie Monroe; Jesse Leonardo. In addition to his parents, he was also proceeded in death by two brothers; Charles Sanford, Duane Baxter; two sisters; Geraldine Peyton, and Ida Rose Bottom. There are no services at this time. Tony A. Lewis, 78, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born April 1, 1945 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Pagie and Loamie Alice Claunch Lewis. He was a retired Mechanic at James River Corporation/Dixie Cup and loved playing cards, fishing, and farming. Survivors include two daughters: Kris (Sharon) Lewis of Lawrencebur and Shelly (Leon) Lewis-Young of Harrodsburg; one son Christopher (Tammy) Hughes of Junction City; three brothers: Charles Lewis, Pagie (Sandy) Lewis, and Kenny Whiteside all of Harrodsburg; one sister Linda Watts of Harrodsburg, and six grandchildren: Johnny, Rachael, Dominique, DeVant'e, and Tariq (Bitty), and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by one son Tony Keith Lewis; three brothers: Glenn, Buford, and Melvin Bruce Lewis; four sisters: Bea Devine, Opal French, Elizabeth Hayslett, and Barbara Hodge; and his first wife Vernon Jo Lewis. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p. m. Friday, December 8, 2023 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Bro. George Dye officiating. Barbara Long Hendren, 84, of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, passed away on December 5, 2023, in Harrodsburg. She was born on December 27, 1938, in Harrodsburg, to the late Ann Marie Long and Henry Clay Long. Barbara had a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse at Haggin Memorial Hospital, where she worked in every department at one time or another. Her dedication and passion for helping others was evident throughout her career. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed sewing and embroidered Christmas stockings for each family member. She was also a proud member of the Gideon's Auxiliary. Barbara was a devout Christian and a long-time member of Ebenezer Church of Christ. Her faith in Jesus Christ remained strong until the end, as she often sang "Oh how I love Jesus" while in the hospital bed. Barbara was blessed with a happy marriage to her loving husband, C. Dalton Hendren, for 65 years. She was his biggest supporter and cherished their time together. Barbara is survived by her husband, C. Dalton Hendren; her children, Debra (Dennis) Gordon, Shelli (Don) Engler, and Rebekah (David) Walton; her grandchildren, Kourtney (Blake) Shewmaker, Matthew (Jenna) Gordon, Aaron (Stephanie) Zweifel, Ashleigh Walton, Elisabeth Walton, and Jim Engler; and her great-grandchildren, Amelia Zweifel, Gentry Gordon, and Sawyer Gordon. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Ransdell Funeral Chapel in Harrodsburg, KY. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the same location. A private burial service will take place at Ebenezer Church of Christ Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Gideon's Auxiliary and the Morning Pointe staff. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gideon's International in memory of Barbara. Freddie Herald, 81, husband of Thirty Years to Angelia Ervin Herald, died Sunday, December 3, 2023 at his residence. Born September 9, 1942 in Booneville, he was the son of the late Richard "Dick" and Ella "Ellie" Sandlin Herald. Freddie was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Entomology and his Masters Degree/Association of American Plant Food Control Officials in Medical and Veterinary Entomology. He retired from the University of Kentucky as Coordinator of the Inspection Program after having served thirty-two years; eleven of which were in the Entomology Department and seventeen years with the Division of Regulatory Services. He was recognized nationally for his contribution to inspection programs by the Association of American Plant Food Control Officials. He was also a member of St. John's Masonic Lodge #125 F&AM where he served as Treasurer for twelve years, was a member of Fort Harrod Bee Club of Harrodsburg, and he was an avid UK Basketball Fan. Survivors besides his wife include one daughter: Alyssa (Brian) Canupp of Cynthiana, two bonus daughters: Denese (Erik) Demonbreun of Harrodsburg and Tracey (the late Robby) Stopher also of Harrodsburg; one sister Addie (Jesse) Johnson of Booneville; six grandchildren: Marshall Canupp and Mary Canupp both of Cynthiana, Aleah O'Cull of Lexington, and Kelsey Stopher, Madelyn Stopher, and Addison Stopher all of Harrodsburg and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Robby Stopher; two sisters: Doris Burchfield and Buelah Harris; and four brothers: John, Junior, Bobby, and Kenneth Murrell. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P. M. Friday December 8, 2023 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Bro. Stephen Brogli officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Marshall Canupp, Freddie Boswell, Nick Collier, Chris Rawlings, Jason Devine, Leigh Karr, Randy Ervin, and Travis Boswell serving as pallbearers. Members of Freddie's Sunday School Class at Bethel Baptist Church, Larry Gamble, Lee Todd Pinkston, the late Robby Stopher and the late Garland Hoskins will serve as honorary pallbearers. Alma K. Bragg, 74, Harrodsburg, KY, widow of Cordell Bragg, died Monday, November 20, 2023, at Morning Pointe Senior Living in Danville. Born July 24, 1949, in Duff, TN, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Alta (Ayers) Marlowe. She was a member of the Junction City Baptist Church and was attending The Carpenter's Christian Church. Alma was a secretary for the Department of the Navy and then for the Wilson Appraisal Group and Randy Couch State Farm Insurance Company. Survivors include: a daughter: Christine Bragg (Bill) Knable of Bradenton, FL and a son: Steven F. (Tonya) Bragg of Burgin, KY; a sister: Joyce Marlowe of Knoxville, TN and three brothers: Robert Marlowe of Oak Ridge, TN, Malcolm (Delores) Marlowe of Corbin, KY and David (Beth) Marlowe of Duff, TN; she also has five grandchildren: William Knable, III, Jackson Roland, Jonathan Roland, Bowen Cordell Bragg and Christina Grace Bragg. In addition to her husband, Cordell, Alma was preceded in death by two brothers: Wade & Curtis Marlowe and a granddaughter: Alexandria Knable.
