WILLIAM R. PHAIR December 2, 1954 - September 25, 2023 Cornwall, NY William "Bill" R. Phair, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on September 25, 2023 in Saint Arnoult, France. He was 68 years old. The son of the late William R. Phair and Margaret (McCabe) Phair, Bill was born on December 2, 1954 in St. Albans, Queens, NY. Bill was an Area Sales Manager for Ferguson Fire & Fabrication. He was an active member of the American Fire Sprinkler Association and the National Fire Sprinkler Association, where over the years he sat on many committees. He was recently elected to be the AFSA Chairman of the Manufactures/Suppliers Counsel. In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his loving wife: Ellen (Auffredou) Phair at home; his daughters: Raquel "Kelly" Hogan and her husband Andre of Wilmington, NC, Jessica Phair and her fiance Michael Niekamp of Cornwall, NY; his son: William Phair and his wife April of Webster, NY; his grandchildren: Lennox and William (Liam) Hogan and Ryleigh Niekamp; his sister: Patricia (Phair) Tinelli and fiance Kevin of Petaluma, CA; his brother: Stephen Phair and his wife Cindy of Rockaway, NJ; sister-in-law: Dianne Phair; sister-in-law: Beth Nedwetzky and brother-in-law: Gunner; brother-in-law: Martin Auffredou and sister-in-law: Linda Auffredou, and brother-in-law: Stephen Auffredou; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Bill was predeceased by his brother: Christopher Phair. A LIFE WELL-LIVED, A LIFE WELL-LOVED William (Billy) Phair, loving, loyal and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, genuine friend, model citizen, exemplary employee. Billy was all of these and much, much more. Like a magnet, he attracted and captured us with his handsomeness, wit, perpetual smile, and sunny outlook. The warmest rays of sunshine always found and fell upon him. Selfless and caring, the interests of others forever placed in a station of priority. Billy deeply loved, and revered his wife Ellen, their three children and their spouses and fiance. For Billy the very best that life offered was when they were together, as a family, enjoying and celebrating life. In his quiet and unassuming manner, Billy would proudly voice the many accomplishments of his wife and children but never his own. In 2020, Billy welcomed the birth of his adorable twin grandsons, Liam and Lennox. There was no sacrifice too large, no excuse to interfere with spending quality time with his grandsons. He loved and adored Liam and Lennox as they loved and adored their "Jo Jo", and it showed. During the summer Billy could be found with Ellen relaxing at their Adirondack camp on Cranberry Lake, his beloved yellow lab, Otis by his side. There, Billy pursued and perfected his love of boating and fishing. At their camp, like at their home on McCann's Lane, Billy's handiwork and craftsmanship was on full display. Throughout his life, music was prevalent; music for listening, for dancing, for performing. A discerning music fan, he preferred the likes of Van Morrison, Harry Chapin, and the Beatles. And he was an accomplished guitarist, with his skill on the instrument complimented by a beautiful singing voice. Billy and Ellen loved to travel and did so nationally and internationally. Billy enjoyed playing golf and he appreciated both the athletic and social benefits the sport offers. Billy's singular work ethic served him well. He was highly regarded and nationally recognized in the fire sprinkler industry. He made a lasting impact at Ferguson Fire and Fabrication, contributing to the company's success. Perhaps the most visible measure of Billy's well-lived life is the countless, life-long friendships he enjoyed. To his friends Billy gave what so many never do, the precious gift of his time, the greatest gift of all. His friends treasured his companionship and welcomed his advice. The lives of all who knew Billy, all who Billy encountered, were enriched by his mere presence. The timeless lyrics of Harry Chapin, slightly modified here, may best describe our never-ending love and reverence for our dear Billy, as we aspire to live our lives as well and completely as he lived his: "We are going to be like him, you know we're going to be like him. " Visitation will be held from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Friday, October 13th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc. , 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. NITA JOY KLEIN March 12, 1937 - November 9, 2023 Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY Nita Joy Klein, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY entered into eternal rest on November 9, 2023 at Taconic at Beacon Nursing & Rehabilitation in Beacon, NY. She was 86 years old. Nita was a prolific artist who found abundant inspiration in the natural beauty of the Hudson Highlands. Her original pastels, watercolors, and acrylic paintings have been exhibited in a wide range of venues both local and national. She resided in Cornwall-on-Hudson with her devoted husband, Larry, where she painted everyday looking out into a deer filled yard, offering seasonal variations such as November's lingering yellow leaves. Nita was born in Highland Falls, then moved to Peekskill, eventually leaving the area to attend the University of Vermont, where she met and fell in love with Larry. She relocated to New York City, where she attended Parsons School of Design, studying fashion design. "I must have driven my teacher crazy," she recalled, "sewing sleeves together when I was supposed to sew buttons on. " She quickly changed her focus to drawing, painting, and pastels. After graduation, she got a job in the art department of one of Manhattan's biggest advertising agencies, Young & Rubican. She had a two-hour lunch and during her breaks she painted and sold her work to the art directors. Within a couple of years, she had sold enough of her art at lunchtime to make it feasible not to work. She sold her work at Bloomingdales and had a commission for a hotel in Manhattan where every single room featured an original Nita Klein work. Today, her work hangs in homes, restaurants and establishments throughout the Hudson Valley. Nita and Larry were inseparable. They were fixtures at many local restaurants and Nita loved the Cornwall Public Library. When Nita had to go to the nursing home because of a fall, Larry visited each day, all day. When he then had a stroke, they shared a room at the facility until he passed away from Covid. Nita enjoyed being alone with Larry in their home, painting, soaking up the quiet and the view out her window. A Graveside Service will take place at 11:00 a. m. on Friday, November 17th at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Mountainville, NY. Miguel Bejarano

Miguel Bejarano

Age - 77

November 7, 2023

MIGUEL BEJARANO August 9, 1946 - November 5, 2023 On November 5, 2023, after a long illness and a life full of great adventures, Miguel Bejarano passed away at the age of 77 in Cortlandt, NY. He was a long-time resident of Cornwall, NY. The son of the late Miguel Eugenio Bejarano and Celeste Edna (Fowler) Bejarano, Miguel was born on August 9, 1946 in Fort Bragg, NC. He grew up in Lynbrook, NY, with his parents and with King (a St. Bernard), and Freckles (a Dalmatian). He attended college in Florida before he was drafted in 1966 to serve in Vietnam. After discharge in 1968, Miguel worked as a photographer in New York City; he had studios on 19th Street near Union Square and on Broome Street, where Bozo and Vixen (black Irish setters), were the shop dogs. Ad campaigns, annual reports, and head shots paid the bills, but Miguel never went anywhere without a Nikon and at least three lenses and captured his friends and aspects of the city from a unique perspective. At one show of his work, a photographer buddy said with awe, "These are incredible. No one can print like Miguel," to a companion. In later years, Miguel formed Storm King Woodworks. The furniture, cabinetry, and other objects he created are treasured for their simple, clean lines that let the beauty of the wood's grain capture the eye. Miguel was a raconteur of the first degree. His stories were legendary, in no small part because he never let the facts get in the way of a good tale. He was known for his skewed sense of humor, his love of dancing, and for embodying Andrew Jackson's statement "it's a damn poor mind that can only think of one way to spell a word. " Before introducing himself to Martha, the love of his life, at a bar in 1988, he told a friend, "That's the girl I'm going to marry. " Martha eventually realized that no one had made her laugh as hard and in 1989 they tied the knot. Raymond, their son and the light of their lives, was born in 1993. Although Miguel was an only child and had little experience with babies or kids, he loved Raymond almost more than life itself. While Martha commuted into the city, Miguel, Raymond, and Charlie (a standard poodle) had countless adventures, tailgate parties, and rocket-building and -launching escapades. Miguel was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved Charlie. He is survived by his wife, Martha Schueneman, of Cornwall, NY, and his son Raymond, of Gaithersburg, MD. They would like to thank the staff at the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose for the seven years of superlative care and kindness they showed Miguel. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11th, from 2:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be sent to Safe Harbors of the Hudson, 111 Broadway, Newburgh, New York 12550.
