On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, William Earl Mitchell, (aka Bill, Willie & Mitch) age 82, of Severn MD, went to be with his Lord and Savior He was surrounded by his family at the Dove House in Westminster He was born on December 19, 1940, in Wellington TX, to the late James Edwin Mitchell and Lenora Mae Mitchell Bill was the loving husband of 58 years to Jean Clara Mitchell He graduated from Amarillo High School in TX and went on to serve in the United States Army at Fort Myers VA He worked for Marriott Corporation for several years and then went on to have a long career as an auditor for the Federal Government Bill was a man of faith He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Beltsville MD where he loved devoting many hours of service, including setting up for Destination Sabbath School and singing in the church choir He enjoyed playing golf and watching various sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them all He had lots of nieces and nephews out west that he missed very much and spoke to them on the phone often Surviving in addition to his wife are his half-brothers Steve and Michael Mitchell, his daughter and son-in-law Kim and Mike Johnston of Eldersburg MD, son and daughter-in-law Rick and Carol Mitchell of Owings MD, son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Brittany Mitchell of Forest Hill MD He was a loving "Grandpop" to his grandchildren Jenna Nicole, Austin Tyler, Brandon Lee, Leah Marie, Hannah Elise, Landon Michael and great-grandchild Mitchell Robert He is preceded in death by his sisters Gladys Rogers and Wanda Goolsby, brother Charles Mitchell, niece Sissy and nephew Randy Rogers To to the family or in memory of William "Bill" E Mitchell, please

On November 30, 2023, surrounded by her daughters and with immense clarity and grace Lois Gertrude Harshaw passed away. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Ralph and Gertrude Votapek, Lois would fondly reminisce about her childhood and time spent on her mother's family farm. Lois graduated from Milwaukee-Downer College where she was a member of the rowing team. An avid reader and lover of books, Lois went on to receive a master's in library science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Beginning her career in the Philadelphia, PA public library system, Lois later joined the Library of Congress, retiring in 1998 after 34 years of service. It was at the Library of Congress that Lois met and married her late husband George Harshaw Sr. Together they nurtured a family, leading a prosperous life in Washington DC, specifically in their dear SE Hillcrest Community. Lois was the family glue. She orchestrated and cared for the details of every Harshaw holiday, social outing, appointment, and event. She was the master of lists and calendars. And never late for an appointment. Lois loved the familiar, including annual family trips to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Rehoboth Beach DE, and the Virginia mountains. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially holiday cookies for friends and family. Her famous brownies will forever be missed. Lois was a lover of the arts, looking forward each season to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, local concerts, and craft fairs. A loyal Packers and WNBA fan, Lois was a season ticket holder to the Washington Mystics. Lois was also a quiet champion of many social justice missions, especially those dedicated to the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Lois was a Lifeline Partnership board member and contributor to Special Olympics, the local food bank, and Maryland Public Television/Radio. Lois, so loved by her family, is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Harshaw, Emily Harshaw, and Anne Harshaw; one son-in-law, Abeyot Demissie; two granddaughters, Jacinda Tsegaye-Harshaw and Zora Smith, one grandson, Kyle Newman-Smith, a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Tina Votapek, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. In Loving Memory of Harriet Gherts Ginsburg With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Harriet Ginsburg who left this world on November 24th. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother (Bubbie), and a proud great- grandmother. Harriet was an extraordinary woman whose unconditional love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. Born in Washington, D. C. , on July 16th, 1941, Harriet was a beacon of strength and compassion. For an incredible 62 years, she was married to her husband, David Ginsburg, creating a bond that withstood the test of time. Their love was a shining example for all, and their union was a testament to the power of commitment and devotion. While Harriet called Greenbelt, MD home for 58 years, she also loved to travel with her family. Her travel included unique destinations such as Israel, Egypt, Italy, Norway, Japan, Costa Rica, and Hawaii. As a mother, Harriet was the epitome of selflessness, material items were not important to her. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her sons, Richard and Michael, showering them with love, guidance, and unwavering support. She was their rock, their confidante, and their biggest cheerleader. Harriet nurtured her children with endless love and care, always ensuring they had a safe and welcoming home. The joy of Harriet's life extended to her grandchildren, Leah, Amber, and Sierra. As Bubbie, she embraced her role as a grandmother with open arms, delighting in their every accomplishment and milestone. Her love for them was boundless, and she cherished the special moments shared with her grandchildren, creating memories that will forever be treasured. Most recently, Harriet was blessed with the arrival of her great-grandson, Mason. Harriet was overjoyed to witness the continuation of her legacy and family through younger generations. One of her favorite Jewish sayings was "L'dor Va-Dor" which translates to 'from generation to generation. ' Harriet was a woman of faith and held her Jewish heritage close to her heart. She found solace and strength in her traditions, passing down the values of family, unity, and kindness to her loved ones. Her home was a sanctuary of love and warmth, where she nurtured and protected her family with unwavering dedication. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the beautiful memories we shared with Harriet. Her love, her guidance, and her unwavering presence will forever be etched in our hearts. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her. Harriet is survived by her loving husband David, her two sons: Richard Ginsburg; his wife, Rhonda; and Michael Ginsburg. Her three grandchildren: Leah Alexander; her husband, Kevin; Amber Ginsburg; and Sierra Ginsburg. Along with her Great Grandchild; Mason Alexander and her twin sister, Gloria Kitay. In Loving Memory of Thi Thu Hang Vo It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, and friend, Thi Thu Hang Vo, who left this world on November 14, 2023 at her home after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Surrounded by the love of her family, she peacefully transitioned to the next chapter of her journey. Thi was born February 27, 1969 in Saigon, Vietnam. She grew up with a compassionate spirit that would become a defining trait throughout her life. Thi married the love of her life, Minh Quan Vo, and together they built a life full of love and shared experiences. As a devoted mother, Thi leaves behind two sons, Michael Vo and Anthony Vo, who were the center of her world. She cherished the role of being a mother and took pride in watching her sons grow into the remarkable individuals they are today. Thi was a woman of kindness and generosity, always putting the needs and concerns of others before her own. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her family, reaching those who were fortunate enough to know her. Friends and acquaintances alike were touched by her warm heart and caring soul. A lover of all things cute, Thi found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her affinity for adorable things reflected her whimsical spirit and added a special charm to her personality. It was this love for the delightful and charming that endeared her to many and created lasting memories for those who were lucky enough to share in her company. For the majority of her life, Thi worked as a dedicated nail technician. Her skillful hands not only crafted beautiful designs but also fostered connections with those who sought her services. Constance (Connie) Jane Freeman (7/3/1945 - 11/3/2023) was born during a thunderstorm on July 3, 1945, in Washington DC, where her father was on assignment with the Marine Corp after being shot in the South Pacific. She grew up in Minneapolis and attended her first two years of high school at the University of Minnesota's Laboratory School. She graduated with honors from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1963, after which she spent a year on an International Christian Youth Exchange in Germany. Connie graduated from American University's School of International Service in 1969 with a degree in International Relations. She subsequently earned her PhD from University of Denver in 1974, where she studied economic development in India and China. Connie spent much of her adult life overseas, where she established her professional career and developed a lifelong appreciation for Africa. In the 1970s, she taught at the University of Zambia and served as Peace Corp Director in Congo-Brazzaville and Cameroon. She also spent time working in India, Pakistan, and East Asia, as well Africa, as a staffer for the Foreign Relations Committee. She spent 15 years with the US State Department starting 1983, working on economic policy in India, throughout Africa and mostly extensively in Kenya. Upon her retirement from the foreign service, Connie spent 10 additional years in Kenya as Regional Director for Southern and Eastern Africa at the International Development Research Centre. Throughout her life, her work interests focused on the role of women in developing countries and rural economic development. Later in life Connie returned to the Washington DC area and taught graduate courses in African Studies at Syracuse University. She continued to travel, enjoyed discussing politics, and maintained many international friendships. She is preceded in death by her mother Jane Freeman, past President of the Girl Scouts, and her father Orville Freeman, Governor of Minnesota (1955-1961) and US Secretary of Agriculture (1961-1969). Joseph A. Morgan, 87, of Beltsville, Md. peacefully passed away at home Sunday morning Nov. 19th, 2023. Joe was born July 20th 1936, to Dolly Rose Anna Gray and John Edmond Hall in St. Mary's county Md. Joe married the love of his life, Edna Tippett Morgan Dec. 7th, 1961, who preceded him in death Aug. 27, 2023. Joe was employed as a Chief Engineer at Maryland Farms Condominium Association for over 45 years. He was fondly nicknamed "Mr. Maryland Farms" by many residents for his professionalism, dedication, expertise and friendly & outgoing personality. Joe served in the U. S. A. F. overseas and in the States in the 1960's. He was preceded in death by his youngest son Wayne A. Morgan, both his parents, siblings William (Bill) E. Morgan, Martha (Julia) E. Morgan Herbert, Elmer J. Morgan, Herman T. Morgan, and Isaac (Ikey) W. Morgan. He is survived by his two children, Joseph E. (Linda) Morgan and Janet Salvetti; 7 grandchildren: Justin Morgan Reeves, Joseph R. (Jamie) Morgan, Steven Salvetti, Jeffrey (Julie) Morgan, Ashley Salvetti, Dale Salvetti, Shelly Salvetti, and 6 (with one more on the way!) great grandchildren. Also surviving Joe is his brother Lewis M. Morgan (Bunny) and sister Elizabeth R. (Anna) Hall Morgan. Joe, as a husband, father, father-in-law, pop-pops, brother and uncle was highly and fondly looked up to and admired for his strength, wise advice, unending sense of humor and helpful ways. He was gentle and strong all at the same time. He made us all laugh so much. Joe was a very tall man with big strong hands, he would give the shirt off his back and help in any way he could with those big strong hands. He was always right there for his family and friends until the end. Joe will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
