Douglas Chapman, 80, of Lake Ariel, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday evening after an illness. His wife, Susan Gregorski – Chapman was by his side, and the couple had been married for 53 years. Born in Honesdale, Pa, he was the son of the late Raymond and Maybert Jaggars – Chapman. He was a graduate of Lake Consolidated School Class of 1962. After graduation, he entered the United States Army as a mechanic and truck driver. In 1968, he was honorably discharged as SPF4. After the Military, he drove truck for Jones Motor and Locklin Oil. He worked at Shaffer’s Hardware as a small engine mechanic. He was a member of Canaan Bible Chapel, South Canaan. Doug was an avid motorcyclist but, most of all, he loved the Lord, his family, and his country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his daughter April Watt (Stephen) of Clarks Summit; son Doug, “Sam” Chapman (Brooke) of Lake Ariel; sister Sharon Skelton (Larry) of Waymart; grandchildren Kara Hurley (Mike), Matthew, Katie, Raymond, and Karmella Chapman, Paige, James, and William Watt, and Nash Chapman; great grandchildren Bryce and Owen Hurley; many nieces and nephews. Cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 17th at 11:00am in Cannan Bible Chapel, 30 Hemlock Rd. Lake Ariel. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service. Interment will be private at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel. Robert William Stappert, Sr., 73, of The Hideout, Lake Ariel passed away on Wednesday morning, January 17, 2024 after a brief illness. Born July 20,1950 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late William Stappert and Margaret Stappert (née Langdon). Bob was a graduate of Saint Francis College, Brooklyn, and was employed as a Supervisory Special Agent at the Criminal Investigation Division, US Department of Treasury in Newburgh, NY until his retirement. He raised his family in Monroe, NY and retired in the Poconos, where he enjoyed watching the NY Yankees and spoiling his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Virginia Stappert (née Reilly) who passed away in 2020. Surviving are daughters Kimberly Kieva and husband Jason, Patrice Montalto and husband Martin; a son, Robert Stappert and wife Danielle. He adored his grandchildren: Lily, Rileigh, Joseph, Michael, Chelsea, Chloe, Ella and Andrew. Also surviving are sisters Janet Kiefer and husband Peter, Joan Urban; and his loving in-laws, the Reilly, Comer and Kennedy families; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Loise Johnson, Bob’s loving and dedicated caretaker, for her kindness to him over the past several years. Richard John Dalpe Jr.

Richard John Dalpe Jr., age 68, of Lake Ariel, PA, passed away at home on January 9 , 2024. Born on March 12, 1955, he was son of Priscilla (Wright) Dalpe and the late Richard John Dalpe, Sr. Rich was a 1973 graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School located in Annandale, NJ. Rich’s athleticism enabled him to excel at both wrestling and football at North. After graduation, he went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army as an Airborne Qualified soldier in the 82 Airborne Division, where he earned the National Medal of Honor. Richard was an arborist and self-proclaimed “best tree climber” in Hunterdon County, who owned and operated Pro-Tree Service for over 40 years. Richard and the love of his life, Leanne H. (nee DiTaranto) Dalpe, created a beautiful family together and raised their three children; Daniel, Richard, and Brandy Lynn, whom he adored. A true family man, Rich cherished his time with his family. When his kids were younger, he enjoyed coaching his sons' baseball team and being very active in his sons' cub scouts. As his kids got older, Richard enjoyed spending time with them and his grandchildren vacationing in Wildwood, NJ every year, weekends at Lake Hopatcong, and enjoying dinners out with family and friends. Richard was an outdoor enthusiast, boating at Lake Hopatcong, hunting, fly fishing, trapping, and participating in turkey shoots. He would often spend time racing cars, attending car shows, antiquing, and going to trading posts. In his final years, he took great pleasure in living with his wife and family on Lake Wallenpaupak, visiting his mom and vacationing in Tampa, FL, Disney, attending Military Air Shows at Pocono Raceway, Nascar at the Poconos, and local fairs. He could often be found relaxing with a casual cocktail in hand or a night cap. Richard stood out in a crowd, had an iron fist but a heart of gold. He will be forever remembered as a devoted husband and family man, always cherishing the moments and memories he created with them. Richard will be forever missed by his beloved wife, Leanne (nee DiTaranto) Dalpe; his three children, Daniel P. DiTaranto, Richard J. Dalpe III, and Brandy Lynn Dalpe; his adoring mother, Priscilla Dalpe; brother, Kevin Dalpe; sisters, Robin Ireland, and Paige Pistritto; his two beautiful grandchildren, Colson Jayden Dalpe and Harlyie Jade Dalpe who he loved and adored; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Richard is predeceased by his father, Richard John Dalpe Sr. and his sister, Lisa Jean Moore. Services will be held privately at this time, with inurnment and military honors to be held at a later date, in Arlington National Cemetery. A devoted husband, loving father, and gloriously doting grandfather has slipped his earthly bonds and journeyed to his eternal home. William Lawrence McGreevy, age 71, of Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, Lake Ariel died Friday, December 29, 2023 after a brief illness. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 45 years, Angela Marie (Langone) McGreevy. Growing up in Jackson Heights,Queens, NY, Bill was born on April 8, 1952 to the late William Francis McGreevy and Rita Dolores (Kelty) McGreevy. A product of 16+ years of Catholic schooling specializing in economics, finance and earning his Certified Financial Planning credentials, Bill excelled in the banking world. He managed the Northern Jersey Home Mortgage business for JP Morgan Chase. Before the age of 60, in 2012, Bill retired to more fully enjoy his life with Angela. Bill and Angela raised their family in Edison, NJ while enjoying their current home in Wallenpaupack Lake Estates for the past 30 years. After retiring, they spent time between PA and their home in St. James Plantation in Southport, NC. Known for his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor, Bill deeply loved his country and his family. While many could enjoy his mighty lion’s roar, those closest to him felt the tender heart of a lamb. Bill delighted in boating on the Lake, had a damn good golf game both in PA and NC, and as a certified NRA Instructor, enjoyed target practice at local firearm ranges and teaching others gun safety. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Anne McGreevy Kelly and her husband Mike of Norwalk, CT and their children Mia and Caleb; his son: Michael McGreevy of Easton, PA; his brother: Robert McGreevy and his wife Terry of Monroe, CT; and his cousin: Maureen Brokaw of Woodside, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday January 13th at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, St. Mary's Church Rd., Ledgedale, with Father Stephen Bosomafi officiating. Interment will immediately follow in St Mary's Cemetery followed by a celebration of Bill’s wonderful life. Edwin G. Frisbie, 97, of Lake Ariel, passed away Saturday evening at home. His wife of 76 years is the former Frances Miller–Frisbie. Born in Ledgedale, he was the son of the late Grover and Gladys Shaffer–Frisbie. He was a graduate of Lake Consolidated School class of 1943. Prior to retirement, Edwin was the parts and service manager at Sears in Dickson City. He attended the Free Methodist Church of South Canaan. He was a member of the American Legion Post 807, Paul A. Sweeney Memorial Post and the Thomas A. Snook VFW Post 6520. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II. Also surviving are his daughter, Sondra Budge of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Tegan Vought of Milwaukie, Ore. and Skye Amber Perry of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law, Shirley Frisbie of Lake Ariel; niece, Veldora McCane of Maplewood; several nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Riddle; brothers, Alvie Frisbie and Joseph Frisbie. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, Pa. 18436. Military honors will be rendered. Randy Repsher Sr. passed away on December 19th after battling cancer, with his wife, Ginger and son, Randy Jr. by his side. Born in Hawley to the late Henry Repsher and Arline Stoquert Repsher, Randy served as a firefighter for Hawley Borough for many years. He loved to joke with those closest to him. Additionally, Randy was the consummate outdoors man, loving camping, hunting, fishing, and boating. Purchasing the family home and land were amongst his proudest accomplishments. Most of all, Randy loved being a dad, and wholeheartedly recognized the blessing in his life being a dad afforded him. Randy is survived by his wife, Ginger and their son, Randy Jr. ; brothers Robert and wife Ellen of North Carolina; Terry and wife Linda of Hawley; sister Karen Repsher of Honesdale; brothers-in-law Robert Mongovan of Honesdale; Bob Hess Sr. and companion Patty Naro of Newfoundland; Tim Hess Sr. and wife Heather of Waymart; sisters-in-law Kimberly Hess and wife Ginny Grove of Scranton; and Kerry Beemer of Newfoundland; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother Ricky Repsher and his sister Patricia Mongovan. Funeral services will be held Friday at 4pm in the Light of Christ Church 2067 Moosic Lake Road, Mt. Cobb with Rev. Carol E. Thomas, R. N. December 15, 2023 Carol Elkins Thomas, Sterling Twp. , died Friday in the Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center after an illness. Her husband is W. Alan Thomas. Born 1946, in Wellsburg, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Earl and Margaret Kerr Elkins and was educated in Wellsburg schools. She went on to graduate from the Alleghany School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse as well as the West Virginia University. She had been employed as a computer analyst with the Department of the Army. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Lackawanna Valley and attended the Madisonville Christian Church. She was an avid collector of teddy bears and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years. Also surviving are a grandson, Ethan Thomas; brothers-in-law Floyd Thomas and his wife Rita and the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Thomas and his wife Evelyn; cousins Paul Lee and his wife Mary Lu and Marleen Marchant; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her stepdaughter Michele Lee Thomas in 2016. Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 28th at 1pm in the Hornbaker Cemetery, Hornbaker Cemetery Road, Madisonville with Rev. Scot Schlitter officiating. Eileen M. Lee (65) of Lake Ariel passed away on December 10, 2023 at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Home, Lake Ariel, after a lengthy illness. Born December 28, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY, she was daughter of the late James Telesco and the former Gretta McLean. Eileen was educated in NY public schools, and in Administrative Certificate programs in the state of NY. During her life, she was employed by the Borough of Queens as administrative assistant to the borough president in connection with the Psychiatric Hospital in Jamaica, Queens. After relocating to Pennsylvania, Eileen held many positions including Bank Teller, Bus Driver, and Home Health Aide. At the end of her career, she worked for The Warm Line, as a compassionate and understanding ear for those who were down and out. Surviving is Eileen's beloved daughter, Chelsea Lee; sisters Tricia, Bernadette and her husband Frank, Denise; brothers Jimmy and Tommy; numerous nieces and nephews. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Artie Lee in 1999, and by a brother-in-law, Denise's husband John. A private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Eileen's life will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 334 St Mary's Church Road, Ledgedale, on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11AM.
