William Maynard Obituary

William L. "Bill" Maynard 91 of Brushy Rd Pikeville, KY passed from this earthly life Saturday April 22, 2023 at Pikeville Medical Center. Bill was born Wednesday September 16, 1931 in Pike County, KY a son to the late John Talmadge Maynard and Minnie (Varney) Maynard. Bill had worked in the auto sales industry. Bill was the former Pastor of the Piso Freewill Baptist Church for 64 years, and had started multiple Freewill Baptist Churches in the community. Bill was preceded in death by his parents John Talmadge Maynard and Minnie (Varney) Maynard; his first wife Lottie Maynard; one son Barry Maynard; eight brothers Woodrow, OJ, JT, James Harmon, Layton, Mackadoo "Mack" Franklin, Bob and Claude Maynard; and four sisters Hattie Marie Collins, Marlene Costa, Georgia Muncy, and Ibba Jean Miller. Bill was survived by his wife Bertha McCoy Maynard of Brushy Rd Pikeville, KY; one son and two stepsons Billy Maynard (Patty Sue) of Salyersville, KY, Greg Blackburn (Rebecca) of Pineville, KY, Raleigh "Pete" Blackburn (Bonnie) of Varney, KY; one daughter Diana Lowe (Daryl) of Varney, KY; seven grandchildren, eleven step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and ten step great grandchildren. Bill leaves behind a host of family and friends to mourn his passing. William L. "Bill" Maynard will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
