Sidney Elmore Barnes, age 84, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at his residence of over 50 years surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. Sidney grew up a typical boy in Ponchatoula squirrel hunting and fishing with his friends with widely known nicknames such as, "Ponchatoula Slim", "Loopty", or "High Pockets" to name a few. Sidney proudly served his country in the US Air Force. Sidney retired as a Foreman from Shell Oil Refinery in Norco with approximately 30 years of dedicated service. Often quiet, soft spoken, and laid back he was always friendly, giving, and willing to help anyone who needed it. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was working outside in the yard, cutting his grass, working on his backhoe, picking pecans, or woodworking, he kept himself busy. When the New Orleans Saints and LSU Football games were on, he was always there to root for his teams. Sidney had a sense of humor and smile that could light up any room he entered, a smile that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his adoring wife of 49 years, Diane Barnes; children, Cheri Barnes Basford (Rob) and Christopher "Brandon" Barnes (Jennifer); grandchildren, Aubree and Brooks; sister-in-law, Marsha Barnes; nephews, Bill Barnes (Rosamond), Frank Barnes (Vickie), Dean Barnes (Rhonda); niece, Misty Barnes; numerous cousins, great and great-great nieces and nephews; as well as his grand-pup Raven who adored him. Preceding him in death are his parents, Birley Barnes and Irene Jones Barnes; in-laws, Joseph Fontenot and Verlie Eliser Fontenot; baby brother, B. A. Barnes; brother, Frank "Glen" Barnes; nephew, Gene Barnes; precious granddaughters, Addisyn and Brynlee, numerous aunts and uncles, and his beloved pup, Maggie. Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 5:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 9:00 a. m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a. m. "James, age 63, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. He was a resident of Maurepas, LA. James was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, riding horses and bulls, and being out in the field cutting hay. He had a larger-than-life personality and could make anyone laugh no matter what the situation. James never met a stranger and was one of the best story tellers around. He had the unique ability to fix just about anything. James had a saying: \u0026quot;If I can\u0027t fix it then it\u0027s not broke! The only thing I can\u0027t fix is a broken heart. \u0026quot; He lived up to that saying time and time again. James was truly a one of a kind and hands down one of the best men you could ever meet. He was a true family man that adored his children and was happiest spending time with the ones he loved. James left his family with a lifetime of happy memories and a story or two. He will be forever missed. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Bailey Thompson (Jonathan), Khristian Bailey; son, Aaron Michael Bailey (Tiffany); sister, Dwauna Cleveland (Jeff); brothers, Kenneth Wayne Bailey (Amanda), Clint Marshall Bailey (Terrie Lynn), Chad O\u0027Neal (Tina), Shawn Bailey (Jamie); mother, Gracie Everett O\u0027Neal; and special dog, Sissy and Numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn Ann Bertucci Siekkinen, age 78, passed away on December 3, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Ponchatoula. She was born on July 8,1945 in New Orleans. Carol was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Carol is survived by her six children: Shayna (Daniel) Tulanian, Davin (Laurie) Siekkinen, Braden Siekkinen, Kallen Siekkinen, Garin (Emily) Siekkinen, and Kaylie (Charlie) Wolff. She was grandmother to ten, with the eleventh due to arrive in the Spring. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Charles Siekkinen. In addition, Carol was also preceded in death by her parents John Bertucci and Theresa Castigliola, and her brother John Bettucci. Carol is also survived by a lifelong best friend, Eileen Engel, and a host of other beloved friends and family. Carol was a proud alumna of Southeastern University. She was a dedicated entrepreneur and owner of Hemmerling Kalle Gallery. She had a passion for art and embraced her role in the creative community. She was especially passionate about the art of Bill Hemmerling, as she played an instrumental role in marketing his art and establishing him as an internationally recognized artist. After Bill's passing, she has continued to share Bill's legacy, and has furthered her passion in supporting the career of her son, Kalle, and his own artistic endeavors. Carol's life was filled with love and devotion to her family and friends. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones, always had a smile on her face and viewed life through rose-colored glasses. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8th at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home on Canal Street in New Orleans. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a service at noon. Carol will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery immediately following. Carol Ann Bertucci Siekkinen will forever be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for her family and helping others.
