William Harry Jordan, 92, passed away on April 23, 2019 in Griffin, Georgia. He was the husband of Margaret Ann Bruce Jordan. They shared 60 years of marriage. Mr. Jordan was born in South College Park, Georgia on December 23, 1926. He graduated as valedictorian of North Clayton High School in 1944. His work habits exhibited his hard working nature. He was a World War II Veteran that served in Japan over foreign labor from 1945 to 1947. He worked for 14 years at National Biscuit and retired from Eastern Airlines in 1985 after 30 years of service. As a father of five, Mr. Jordan is survived by three daughters: Judy Alloway, Pamela Strickland, and Sandra Denton. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Dessie Diane Rollins and son, Felton Don Jordan. He had 15 grandchildren, more than 20 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. He was the last living sibling of four and is survived by one brother-in-law, Gerald Bruce. Due to the longevity of his life, Mr. Jordan experienced an abundance of change in American culture and lifestyle. He witnessed many historical milestones for our country. All of these things did not change his hard-working nature, his love for a good deal, and the enjoyment he received from perusing estate sales, antique shops, and thrift stores. His granddaughters will always remember his desire to consume copious amounts of sweets, especially Krispy Kreme doughnuts, his love for ice cream, and acquiring his love of baseball. Even in his later years, Mr. Jordan continued to "tinker" with things and enjoyed teaching his grandsons how to do home repairs. In order to celebrate Mr. Jordan's life, his family will host a visitation at Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home from 12:00 - 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2019. A graveside service will be held at King Cemetery on Walker Road in Riverdale, Georgia beginning at 2:00 PM. In the words of Charlie Brown, "In the book of life, the answers aren't in the back." We can learn from those words and the life of William Harry Jordan, 92. Life is what you make of it, and Mr. Jordan certainly made the most of his life.
