Mr. William "Bill" Ross Jerome, 51, of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born July 6, 1972, he was the son of Marrietta and the late Vaugn Jerome. He attended and graduated from Blytheville High School. He was a member of the Chickasaw marching band and active in scouting where he obtained the rank of Eagle scout. Bill attended Arkansas State University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and the ASU marching and concert bands. He also attended culinary school in Memphis. Bill served in the United States Air Force where he was awarded Outstanding Chef of the Year. Following the Air Force, he spent time in Missouri and Wyoming where he served as an intern in various construction skills before returning to Blytheville. Bill worked in several local restaurants and operated his own construction business in Blytheville and Jonesboro. Bill was a past member of the Blytheville Lion's Club and a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where he volunteered for food box distribution with Pastor Frederick Clay. His last act of kindness towards others was organ donation. He was preceded in death by his father, Vaughn Jerome; and two uncles, Newell Jerome and Cecil Graves of Blytheville. Bill is survived by his mother, Marrietta Jerome of Blytheville; sister, Heather Jerome of Blytheville; aunt, Eva Lee Graves of Blytheville; nieces, Debra Chavez and two great-nieces of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Carol Davis of Bono, Arkansas; nephew, Jonathan Davis and great-nephew of Bloomington, Illinois; and a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 11:30 a. m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frederick Clay, Sr. and Dr. Tandy Hanson officiating. There will be no visitation. The family request memorials be made to Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Troop 104 Boy Scouts, First United Methodist Church or to the Blytheville Humane Society. Joe Charles Akers, 57, of Blytheville, Arkansas, died Monday, November 27, 2023 in Memphis, Tennessee. Born to Lonnie and Melba Ann Wooldridge Akers, he was a Supervisor at Tenaris for 24 years. Joe was a great provider for his family and when he wasn't working, he loved to spend his time with his family. He impacted many lives with his big heart and was loved by everyone he met. His favorite pastimes were fishing with his mother and his sons. He was also passionate about watching his western movies, especially those with John Wayne. Joe was very proud of his sons and his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by four brothers: Lonnie Jr. , Ronnie, David, and Jerry Akers. Joe is survived by his wife, Tammy Weaver Akers of Blytheville, Arkansas; three children: Joe Akers II and Kristen of West Memphis, Arkansas, Brandon Akers of Monroe, Louisiana, and Joe Walters III and Kaylee of Orange City, Kansas; two brothers: Dale Akers of Blytheville, Arkansas, and Billy Akers and Stacy of Paragould, Arkansas; three sisters: Susie Kirk and Tim of Blytheville, Arkansas, Connie Hutto and Don of Piedmont, Missouri, and Debbie Goforth and Brian of Cullman, Arkansas; and three grandchildren: Abby, Lela, and Gabe Akers. LaSonya PaShun Barnes Mitchell was born to Billy D. Williams and Gloria Dean Barnes on November 21, 1967, in Gary, Indiana. She was raised in Blytheville, Arkansas where she attended the Blytheville High School, graduating in 1986, and was employed at MCAEOC Head Start as a bus monitor. Shunn confessed a hope in Christ and was a faithful member of Eternal Salvation Pentecostal Church under the pastorage of Bishop John D. Mayberry. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe Henry and Lula Mae Johnson, James Holliday, Rose Barnes, her aunt, Katherine Wilkins and uncles Carl Richard Ellis and Steven Smyth. Shunn departed this life at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas on November 24, 2023Those left to cherish memories are her husband Elbert "EJ" Mithcell of the home, her son, Fredrick (Angelica) Taylor of Blytheville, Arkansas; two daughters, Vanessa (Titus) Crockett of Marked Tree, Arkansas; and Kimberly Mitchell of Marion, Arkansas; her mother, Gloria Dean Barnes of Greenville, South Carolina; her sister LaKina Jones also of Greenville, South Carolina; her brother, LaSanto Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; 8 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, her Viskase, her MCAEOC, and her Eternal Salvation Pentecostal Church families. Tanisha Yolundra Brown 49, of Beaumont, TX passed Nov. 20, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held 10AM, Nov. 25, 2023, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church 3920 W. Cardinal Dr. Beaumont, TX. Tanisha was born on July 02, 1974, in Blytheville, Arkansas to Annabel Franklin-Brown and John Earl Brown. Tanisha was the apple of their eyes and a joy to behold for the entire Brown and Franklin families. Tanisha professed Christ at an early age under the leadership of Elder Rosevelt Reed at Oakwood COGIC in Alton, IL. Upon moving to Beaumont, she became an active member at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. John R. Adolph-Pastor. Tanisha graduated from Alton High School in Alton, Illinois in 1992 while working a steady job. She went on to get a diploma as a Medical Assistant from Sanford-Brown College. As a single mother she continued to work and go to college receiving her Associate of Applied Science in Office Technology from Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont, TX, a Bachelor of Business Administration from LeTourneau University and then going further to receive a Master of Strategic Leadership from LeTourneau University. She worked as a Frontline Coordinator-Financial Aid at Lamar State College, an Outreach and Admissions Counselor for Cornerstone Solutions, Inc. With the Job Corps she was an Outreach and admissions Counselor and at Southeast Texas Food Bank she held various positions. She finally landed her dream job as an Administrative Assistance to the director of Family Services of Southeast, Texas. The pride and joy of her life was her son, Larry Doran Greenlee, II. He was her motivator, her reason to live and strive to be the very best mother. She instilled in Larry a desire to know and seek God, to achieve an exemplary education and always show and use good manners. OrganizationsYou could always find her active and busy. She was involved in many programs such as, Single Parents Ministry at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church serving with various ministries within the church. Single Mom's Overjoyed Rejuvenated and Empowered (SMORE), participated in Day of Blessings, Single Moms Retreat and Single Moms Support Group through Calder Baptist Church. The one that was near and dear to her was serving our inner-city brothers and sisters (homeless population). She also served faithfully with Pioneering Women. Tanisha's contagious spirit touched many people leaving a lasting impression. Shirley E. Sing was born to the union of Theodis Sing and Dara Northern Sing in Blytheville, Arkansas on May 2, 1945. She was a homemaker and worked at Universal Manufacturing in Blytheville, Arkansas until its closure. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Theodis Sing and Dara Northern Sing, two brothers, Garless and Richard; four sisters, Dorothy, Barbara, Velois, and Pearline, and a granddaughter, Desire. Shirley transitioned on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at her home at the age of 78. She is survived by nine children, Debra (Nathaniel) White of Blytheville, Arkansas; Rickie Sing of Gosnell, Arkansas; Shirlene Williams of Fort Worth, Texas; Tommy (Nikita) Sing of Crowley, Texas; Stacy (Andrew) Fairley of Lucedale, Mississippi; Patricia (Robert) Minor of Fort Worth, Texas; Sarina (Leonard) Williams of Fort Worth, Texas; Mallorie Sing also of Fort Worth, Texas; and Emma (Lamar) Almon of Acworth, Georgia; two brothers, Roosevelt Cole of Chicago, Illinois; and Jerry Cole of Pontiac, Michigan; one sister Vera Marshall of Blytheville, Arkansas; 33 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, any nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
