William Lee Hisghman, 60, of Winchester, Virginia died Friday, October 6, 2023 in the Winchester Medical Center. Mr. Hisghman was born August 2, 1963 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Master Chief, Jonathan Hisghman, U. S. Navy Ret. and Virginia Chancey Hisghman, He retired U. S. Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant First Class E-7. He served during Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Foreign Freedom and tours in Afghanistan. He later closed files for the FBI in Manassas, Virginia. He married Barbara Ann Brill on July 8. 1995 in Winchester, Virginia. Surviving with his wife are his father of Charlottesville, VA; his mother of Winchester, VA; a son, Joshua Allen Hisghman of Winchester, VA; and two granddaughters, Ava Sofia Hisghman and Wyonnia Ann Hisghman; a brother, Jonathan Hisghman (Kaley) of Tampa, FL; a sister, Nancy Skipper (John) of Winchester, VA; two nephews, Steven Skipper (April) and Dustin Skipper, both of Winchester, VA; and three great-nieces and three great-nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A. M. Friday, October 13, 2023 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville. Military honors will be provided by the Clarke County Honor Guard. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Winchester SPCA, 111 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601, in memory of Isabella, his faithful pup.

He was born May 3, 1943 in Clarke County, VA; son of the late, John S. and Beulah Fritts Plotner. Jim married Peggy Carolyn Orndorff Plotner, December 22, 1962 in Berryville, VA. Along with his wife he is survived by his daughters, Joy Bly (Kenneth) of Clear Brook, Tammy Dyer and Peggy Windsor of Bunker Hill, WV; son, James I. Plotner, Jr. (Melissa) of Gore, VA; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and several step sisters and brothers. Jim is preceded in death by his son-in-law's, David Dyer and Larry Windsor; brothers, Elwood and John Plotner and sisters, Caroline Hill, and Jane Tenney. A funeral service will be Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester with Pastor Ronnie Combs and Pastor Andy Combs officiating. Clyde Robert "Junior" Waltman, Jr. , 88, of Winchester, VA, died on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. Clyde was born on April 3, 1935 in Ellerslie, MD, the son of the late Clyde R. Waltman, Sr. and Ethel M. Ritchey Waltman. He worked for Abex Corp. in Winchester for 35 years. Clyde enjoyed fishing, working on small engines, motorcycles, mowing grass and being with his family & friends. Clyde married Patricia A. "Pat" Gogolla Waltman on December 10, 1960 at the St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, D. C. Surviving with his wife of nearly 63 years is a son: Joseph R. "JR" Waltman; two daughters: Diane T. Mason (Chris); Lisa A. Strosnider (Tony) all of Winchester, VA; a sister: Monna Lee Porter of Cumberland, MD; five grandchildren: Michael, Chris, Josh, Erica & Jarret and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 10-11:30 AM. Frederick (Fred) C. Dase, 66, of Winchester, VA, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his home. He was born September 11, 1957, son of the late Floyd C. Dase and Hilda S. Dase. He was a cabinet maker, and a very talented woodworker. He grew up in Sterling, VA before moving to Winchester, VA, and graduated from Broad Run High School in Ashburn, VA in 1976. He is survived by two nephews as well as several cousins and extended family members. He was dearly loved by all his family and friends and will be forever missed. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel Dase and Andy Dase. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Shelda Jean Stone, 86, of Winchester, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Westminster Canterbury with her family by her side. She was born April 8, 1937 in Truxton, NY; daughter of the late Ezra Oscar and Helen May Craft Gilbert. She worked at the Winchester Rescue Mission for over 40 years. Shelda married Leland Eugene Stone, October 15, 1955 in Truxton, NY. He preceded her in death November 27, 2020. Shelda is survived by her daughter, Debra Ambrose of Winchester; sons, Dean Stone (Charlotte) of Middletown, Rob Stone (Cara) of Loganton, PA, Randy Stone (Lois) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifty-one great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; brother, Carlton Gilbert of Zephyrhills, FL and sister-in-law, Iva Gilbert of McGraw, NY. Along with her husband she is preceded in death by brothers, Gordon, Harold, Lee and Ron Gilbert; sister, Esther Widger and her son-in-law, Bob Ambrose. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 6:00- 8:00 pm at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. Betty L. Willis, 93, of Winchester, VA passed away peacefully at Inspirit Hilltop surrounded by her family. Betty was born March 16, 1930 in Frederick County, VA the daughter of the late Herbert D. Schuller Sr. and Sylvia Marie (Boyce) Schuller. She attended John Handley High School. After high school she worked at McCrory's and Newberry's in downtown Winchester. She also worked at Glaize packing shed as a secretary, receptionist and apple packer. Betty married Raymond J. Willis on May 24, 1957 in Winchester. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and homemaker. She loved tending to her flower beds and gardening. She canned vegetables and made jellies. She liked to embroider by hand making pillow cases and scarves for tables. She loved to go shopping. She is survived by her daughter Robin R. Eanes (Glenn) of Capon Bridge, WV and two grandchildren, Thomas Eanes (Betsy) of Raleigh, NC and Amber Gundlach (Erik) of Severn, MD. One great grandson Elliott Gundlach, nieces and nephews. Along with her husband Raymond, she is preceded in death by her son Randy R. Willis, her parents and two brothers: Francis Schuller and Herbert D. John Ralph Reed passed away on November 16, 2023, at age 89. John is survived by his son John P Reed (and daughter-in-law Adelina Reed) his daughter Susan (son-in-law Willy Kaempfer) and six grandchildren (Mikael, Niamh and Emma Kaempfer and Themba, Khensani, and Maya Reed). Ralph was fond of history and served in the Navy when younger and retired from work with the military sealift command. Gene Floyd Walker, 92, of Winchester, VA died Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Mr. Walker was born June 17, 1931, in the District of Columbia, he is the son of the late Robert L. Walker and Maybelle Smith Walker. He retired as a press operator from Abex and was a member of Opequon Presbyterian Church and Winchester Moose Lodge 1283. Proceeded in death was his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Shell Walker, married on June 6, 1954 in Winchester. Mr. Walker is survived by two sons: Roger L. Walker and Ronald G. Walker, both of Winchester; daughter-in-law Tacie Butler; four grandchildren: Nikkii Alsberry, Courtney Spaid, SinDay Butler, and Harley Butler; eight great grandchildren: Trae Walker, J'Von Alsberry, Jaleel Alsberry, Daylyn Mauck, Bo David Butler, Hunter McKee, Fenton Spaid and Silas Spaid; and two great-great grandchildren: Weston Walker and Evalynn Walker; and a sister Louise Galvach. He is proceeded in death by his brothers: Weldon Lee Walker and Robert Walker and sisters: Virginia Snapp, Jeanette Baccary, and Elenor Lingo.
