"William Franklin Flanagan born February 7, 1942 in Thomas West Virginia, went home September 9, 2023. He was the son of Kermit Theodore Flanagan and Agnes Lee Flanagan (Nines). He graduated in 1960 from Thomas (Mountaineer) High School. To his friends and family he was known as Frank. In 1962 he married Janet Lea Flanagan (Stemple) in Red House, Maryland. She proceeded him in death in 2021. He was also preceeded in death by his parents and his nephew Jessee Alan Flanagan. Frank was an employee of Northwest Airlines for 40 years. He was a member of Victory Gospel Church in Manassas VA. He was a great believer in the goodness in people. Frank was known to help those in his church and community. He never knew a stranger and would treat everyone with kindness. He is survived by his son Joseph W. Flanagan and his wife Michelle of Manassas,VA. His daughter Andrea C. Teel and her husband Dennis of Stafford,VA. His sister Betty Sue Wardrope, of Capon Bridge, WV and his brother Alan Flanagan of Dry Fork, WV. Frank is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Frank saw his children\u0027s friends as his family and he loved all of them as his own. He was loved by all who knew him. Frank will be missed by all who knew him. He will never know all the lives he touched. Viewing hours will be held for Frank on Friday September, 15th from 6pm to 8pm. His service will be held on September 16th at 3pm. These will be held at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas VA 20110. Pastor Doug Mullins will be officiating. A reception will be held at Victory Gospel Church 9115 Weir Place, Manassas VA 20110. All are welcome to come and remember Frank. "

Alice was born on October 4, 1933, in Orange, New Jersey. She transitioned to the Lord on November 21, 2023. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Cornelius and Bessie Bell Matthews, first husband, Charles E. Ford, and second husband united in matrimony to Alvin L. Davis, Sr. a union which remained steadfast for nearly 49 years, also sons, Kenneth A. Davis and Alvin L. Davis, Jr. Survivors are sons Charles H. Ford, Kevin M. Davis (Kelly), and daughter Kaszondra L. Davis. Grandchildren are Steven Davis, Vincent Davis, Felicia (Shakir) Muwwakkil and Andre Davis. Cousin, Reuben Britt (Penny). At the age of four, Alice began taking piano lessons, and at the age of twelve she was playing a piano and a three manual Hammond Organ for church. She also began directing and conducting Teenager and Young Adult choirs for her home church at Calvary Baptist Church in Vauxhall, New Jersey. Alice continued playing for several other churches including Trinity Episcopal Church in Newark, New Jersey she put together an adult gospel choir in an Episcopalian Church. Alice also was very active in other areas of her churches and when she became a member of Roseville Presbyterian Church in Newark, she was Ordained as an Elder in the Presbyterian Churches. Alice Davis was very active in Community Services and a Political Activist. As a teenager she joined the Tri-City NAACP and was the Secretary before she became 25 years of age. She has a Silver Life Membership given to her by the Prince William County NAACP. Other Activities included are: "Big Brothers and Sisters," "The Women's Affirmative Action Committee," "Women of 40 Project," "The National Council of Negro Women," "The Professional and Business Women," and the "United Labor Agency," where she was employed successfully as an advocated for persons seeking their Social Security Disability. She presented their cases before Administrative Law Judges and was 95% successful in obtaining positive results for her clients. She was an Adjunct Professor at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey where she taught Organizational Behavior and Psychology until she moved to Virginia. Alice was educated in New Jersey and received her Bachelor (summa cum laude) Degree in Labor Studies and Management, and a Master of Science in "Industrial Relations and Human Resources" degrees from Rutgers University. Although she worked full time in the VA Hospital Medical Laboratory, she obtained her College degrees attending classes part-time. She was written about in the New Jersey Magazine in an article about "Adults, returning to school. " Rutgers, later, honored her as a Distinguished Alumni. After Graduation, Alice obtained several positions in the Public and Private Sectors. When Alice retired in 1995 from William Patterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, the Davises moved to Kiln Creek in Newport News, Virginia. They quickly joined Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church, and Alice became a member of two choirs, "The Worship Committee," "Presbyterian Woman," "A Ruling Elder," and "Clerk of Session. " Alice then became involved with the community organizations. Alice was a member of the HOA Board of Directors for six years, and she organized their annual July 4th parade, worked with the Garden Club, belonged to the Women's Club, the Editor for the Kiln Creek Newsletter. The National Council of Negro Women and the Red Hatters. Additionally, she was a tutor in the Newport News School System, and she remained in that role until she moved to Northern Virginia. In 2008, the Davises moved to Bristow in Northern Virginia. They soon joined the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Manassas. She was a devoted member of the Women's Choir, The Missionaries, and a Class Leader. She also attended Bible Studies. With a heart filled with praise, Alice loved the Lord, and she loved the church. When she moved to Richmond VA, she continued to stay connected with First AME. Lastly, she continued her Life memberships with the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), the NAACP and "The Daughters of the Gospel. " Ministry Workshops.Show more

Richard (Rich) Alan Long passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of November 18, 2023, at the age of 76 surrounded by his loving family. Rich was born December 21, 1946, in Paterson, New Jersey, to the late Harry B. and Ruth H. Long. He was the beloved husband of Carol, whom he shared 32 wonderful years of marriage with. He is survived by two brothers, Robert Long of Utah, and Roy Long of Florida. Rich was a loving father to his four daughters, Cynthia Long and Jennifer Long Cottrell of Pennsylvania, Kelly Greene and Toni Smootz of Virginia, and nine beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Rich worked for Raytheon as a principle design engineer for over 20 years before retiring. His dedication and attention to detail earned him the respect and appreciation of his colleagues. Although Rich did not attend church regularly, Rich was a devoted servant of God. He was the most loving, trustworthy, and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Rich will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Rich will always be remembered for his intelligence, integrity, and love for his family and friends. The grandkids will always remember him as Mr. Fix-It. Every time they broke something, they would always take it to Grandpa to fix. A private family interment at Stonewall Memory Gardens Cemetery will be held at a later date. Andrew Lee Robinson, Sr. departed this life on November 20, 2023, surrounded by his devoted wife and family. He entered this world on December 13, 1932, in Fauquier County to the late Charles and Eleanor Robinson, Sr. He graduated from Manassas Industrial School, now known as Jennie Dean. Andrew served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged, as a Corporal, after two years of service. Andrew worked for the federal government majority of his career, where he served as a mail carrier at Melpar and Fuel Distribution manager at Fort Belvoir until his retirement. After retiring from the government, Andrew and his wife worked together as the school bus driver and aide for Fauquier County. Andrew was united in holy matrimony in Washington, D. C. to Rosa Mae Pinkard on March 13, 1955. From this union they were blessed with fifteen children. Andrew's devotion did not stop with his children, he helped raise and mentor grandchildren and numerous others. Andrew became a member of New Light Church of Christ where he was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit under the leadership of Bishop Jessie F. Pemberton. Andrew was a dedicated member of New Light Church of Christ for many years, holding various offices including Youth Advisor, Trustee, Choir Director, Sunday School Superintendent, Food Bank Manager, and serving in numerous other church ministries. Deacon Andrew also served under Pastor Glen Jenkins (City of Refuge) and Pastor Michael Robinson (Redeemed Church of Jesus Christ). Andrew's passions were teaching and feeding the community (distributing food every Saturday). His favorite pastimes were playing baseball and watching his favorite teams, the Washington "Redskins" and the Washington Nationals. Andrew leaves to carry out his legacy his wife of 69 years, Rosa Pinkard Robinson, and their 14 children: Andrew Robinson, Jr. (Cathy), Alvin Robinson (Sheila), Herman Robinson (Crystal), Pamela Williams (Willie), Karyle Lucas (Rex), James Robinson, Beatrice Jenkins (Willie), Towanna McCrea (Roosevelt), Michael Robinson (Fay), Janice Rorie, Jacqueline Houston (Christopher), Dwight Robinson (Mckeesha), Aaron Robinson, Eric Robinson (Tanya), 39 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends. Andrew was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Denise Robinson, his parents, Charles and Eleanor Robinson, Sr. , his granddaughters: Jennifer Lucas and Mary Triglia, his son-in-law, Edward Rorie Sr. , his siblings: Calvin Robinson, Sr. , Charles Robinson, Jr. , Pearl Robinson, Rudolph Robinson (Helen), Doris Jenkins (Richard), Vernon Robinson, Phyllis Garnett, Edward Robinson, and George Robinson, Sr. (Gladys). Carolyn Cowdin Pomponio passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023, at the age of 89, at her home in Warrenton, VA surrounded by family. Beloved wife of the late Peter Paul Pomponio, Sr. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 2, 1934, and moved to Washington DC in 1953 to attend George Washington University. While attending university, she and Peter met, and they married in 1956. They were married for 56 years before Peter's passing. Together they raised four children. Their lives centered on family and food. Family meals, whether a holiday celebration or a simple weekday dinner were exquisitely prepared, rivaling any five-star restaurant, and served with a well-chosen wine and, of course, lively conversation. Creating art, for Carolyn, was a life-long passion beginning in her earliest childhood and directing the course of her life. She earned degrees in Graphic Arts and Design from George Mason University, and Art History and English Literature from George Washington University. Her ultimate form of creative expression was printmaking. Through the course of her printmaking journey, Carolyn mastered the intricacies of stone lithography, etching, screen printing, monoprint, monotype and Solar Plate transfer. She was a member of the Washington Women's Art Center, whose closure was the driving force behind her co-founding the Washington Printmakers Gallery in 1985. The Washington Printmakers Gallery is a cooperative gallery devoted to the creation, education and sale of original hand-pulled artists' prints. Through the years, she served as its President, Vice President, and Treasurer. She was extremely proud of the gallery and its success as the longest continuously operating cooperative gallery dedicated to printmaking. In 2005, she co-founded, and served as President and Director Emeritus of, the Washington Print Foundation, a non-profit corporation established to fund arts education programs in printmaking, photography and digital art for the greater public community. Carolyn's prints are in private and public collections world-wide including: The Cheremetof Collection - Kulturi Foundation, Moscow, Russia; The U. S. Embassy Collections in Gabarone, Botswana; Muscat, Oman and Jakarta, Indonesia; The Shepard Pratt Hospital, and The Maryland Arts & Humanities Council's Executive Offices, both in Baltimore, MD; The Henry L. Stimson Research Center; The Library of Congress's Division of Prints & Drawings; The Smithsonian Institution; the former Corcoran Gallery of Art; The National Museum of Women in the Arts; and Georgetown University, all in Washington DC; The National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD; George Mason University, Fairfax, VA and Washington DC; and the celebrated Windfield Corporation, Arlington, VA among many others. In addition to her work in the arts, Carolyn held various executive assistant positions, retiring as Executive Secretary to the Managing Partner of Patton Boggs law firm in Washington DC in 2013. Carolyn is survived by her children Peter (Jane) Pomponio Jr. , Susan (William) Callery, Carol Pomponio, and Sharon Pomponio; her grandchildren Eric (Anjelica) Eitel, C. Tyler Pomponio, Jenna (Brian O'Neill) Pomponio, Colleen Callery, Bridget (Matt) Palmer, Daisy Pomponio, Jeremy Patterson, and Jonathan (Lisa) Patterson; and her great grandchildren Jennifer and Sean Eitel, and Carson Palmer. She is also survived by her brother Hugh (Cathy) Cowdin Sr. and sister-in-law Ellen Cowdin, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers C. Thomas Cowdin, Jr. and Timothy Cowdin. "Carol Centorcelli was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 12, 1942. She grew up in Queens, New York, married and had three children, two daughters and a son. Carol and her husband, Dario, raised the family in Queens. Carol's son, Dario, passed away in 1989 at the age of 27. Carol and her husband eventually moved to Long Island but a divorce soon followed. Carol worked for Stony Brook University Hospital as an administrative assistant in Pediatric Gastroenterology. Carol retired in 2010 and moved to Virginia to be near her older daughter, Lisa Centorcelli. Carol spent her retirement years being very active in Regency at Dominion Valley. Carol loved to bowl and was a member of a Regency Bowling team for 13 years. Carol loved to play games and she played Canasta, Mah Jong and Bunco. She enjoyed going to shows and activities sponsored by her community. The highlight of her life was the trips she took to Europe with the community, and she visited 16 European countries. (Italy, England, Scotland, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Portugal, Morrocco, Austria and Switzerland) A few weeks each winter Carol spent time in Florida or Texas where her older daughter now lives. Carol leaves behind her sister Ruth Hein (Robert), two daughters Lisa Centorcelli Oswald (William), Caroline Moss (Timothy), five grandchildren, Matthew Centorcelli, Samantha Martinez (Peter), Nicholas Santeramo, Amanda Bretz (Nicholas), and Patricia Centorcelli. Carol has four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Joseph, Dominick Martinez, Charleigh Centorcelli and Kayleigh Centorcelli.
