William Joseph Debord, 77, passed away Friday, Oct. 6 2023. William was a very loving husband, father, pawpaw, and a friend to all who knew him. He retired from Mid-Mountain Foods after 33 years of truck driving. Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Mae Debord; children, Bert Widener and wife Renee and Jennifer Thomas and husband Larry; grandchildren, Alex Widener, Joey Widener, Julie-Mae Widener, Dusty Widener, and Nate "Bug" Thomas; two sisters, Norma Poston and husband Wayne and Louellen White; one brother, Charles Debord and wife Linda; special family, Allen Widner and wife Kim and Fay Hoback and husband Dickie; special niece, Cathy Taylor; his special dog, Abby; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Chilhowie, VA Margaret Ann Coe Blevins, age 89, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. Margaret was born on December 2, 1934, to the late Samuel L. Coe and Lucille Thomas Coe and was preceded in death by her husband Wade Hampton Blevins, Sr. ; great granddaughter Macy Blevins; sisters Ellen Thomas and Mary Blackwell; brothers Charlie Coe, Bill Coe and Kyle Coe. Mrs. Blevins was a member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church and lived over 65 years in the community. She was a loving mother, grandmother and Mamaw. She loved her church and her church family. Survivors include, daughter Jeannette Lynn Blevins of Chilhowie; sons, Randy Lee Blevins & wife Barbara of Clemmons, NC, Wade H. Blevins, Jr. & wife Tammy of Chilhowie, Samuel Eli Blevins & wife Audrey of Chilhowie; eight grandchildren, Rodney Blevins, Wendy Griffin, Whitney Blevins, Amber Blevins, Emily Blevins, Eli Blevins, Lily Blevins, & Sarah Blevins; one great grandchild, Riley Wade Griffen; brothers, Lilburn Coe and Graham Coe; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Grosses Creek Baptist Church with Pastor George Jessee officiating. Interment will follow in the Grosses Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 -7:00 PM at the Grosses Creek Baptist Church. Yes, It's true! Paul Davis is not walking on Earth but running joyfully over his eternal home. God the father brought him home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters, and step-grandson, Will Walker. During his illness he never forgot his wife's name of 60 years, Libby Davis. Paul and Libby had three girls, Lisa Davis, Kim Walker and husband Daniel, and Pam Mixon and husband Mike. Grandchildren, Lauren Keen, Tyler Keen and wife Sara, Taylor Mixon, Ashley Mixon, Lindsey Walker and fiance Alex Robinson, and Gavin Walker; Step-Granddaughter, Fallon Grinstead and husband Tyler; Great grandchildren, Bryleigh Salyer, Harlow Nash, Gentry Keen, and Coy Keen; Step-great grandchildren, Emory Walker, Gracie and Walker Grinstead; step-granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Walker. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at the Chilhowie United Methodist Church with Pastor Cody Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow in Westwood Memorial Gardens. Florence "Flo" Edwards Clarke, 89, went to be with her Lord and family on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. She loved her Lord and served him faithfully from early childhood throughout her journey of life. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and wife of Rev. Robert Clarke who served thirty-five years of ministry in the Holston Methodist Conference. Flo graduated from Hiwassee College, earned a Bachelor of Arts and a BS degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College and master's degree from Candler Emory Atlanta. She served two years as Church and community (rural worker) under the Board of Missions, United Methodist Church in Big Stone Gap District. She was the District Lay Leader Abingdon District, three years; two years she was Director Youth Worker at the Decatur United Methodist Church, Decatur, GA, one year as Director of Christian Education First United Methodist which later became United with Broad Street to from the First Broad Street United Methodist Church of Kingsport, TN. Having completed studies at Radford, ETSU, and UVA in Public school education. She earned certification to teach grades K-12 and spent twenty-five years teaching in various schools of Carrol, Giles, and Smyth counties of Virginia, retiring from Smyth County. Her hobbies were reading, helping others, and loving them. She is preceded by her husband, Rev. Robert Clarke; son, Steve Clarke, daughter Robin Jaylyn Clarke Freeman; parents, James M. and Pearl Edwards of Erwin, TN; five brothers, Estel, Stanley, Roy Lee, Dale, and Clifford; and sister, Barbara Love and Mildred Rogers; infant great grandson, Bentley Peeples. Survivors include her grandson, Wesley Clarke and wife Melissa of Bristol, Va. ; three granddaughters, Kristen Freeman (Ben), Danielle Perry (Ben), Carrie Boone; three great-granddaughters, Lexie, Andie Rhea, Gabby, Kobie, and Callie Joe; two great-grandsons, Hendrixx and Charlie; two sisters, Madell Bunch and Priscilla Cooper; two brothers-in-law; special friends, Leila Poe and Cynthia Robinson; and several nephews and nieces also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at Williams Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Holston Conference Cemetery in Emory Va. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM Sunday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Martha Bane Clendenen was born in Bristol, VA, April 30, 1925 to James Stevenson Bane and Katherine Pickle Bane. She grew up on Windsor Ave. , and belonged to Anderson Street United Methodist Church. After graduating from Tennessee High School in 1943, Martha earned her AB degree from Virginia Intermont College. Martha married Jim Clendenen on June 5, 1948. They moved to Glade Spring, VA in 1951, where she spent the remainder of her life. Martha served as Treasurer and Clerk for the Town of Glade Spring for many years. She was also employed by Washington County Schools, teaching at Wallace High School and Liberty Hall Elementary. Martha became a member of Byars Cobbs United Methodist Church in 1951, where she was active in United Methodist Women, the Young Adult Sunday School Class, Parsonage Committee and Bible Study groups. During the 1950's Martha advocated for Bible Education in the schools, and worked as a booster for the construction of Patrick Henry High School and its first marching band. Martha was known for her joy in meeting the needs of people, and taking care of both the old and the young. She spent much of her energy babysitting her grandchildren and her first great grandchild. In her later years, Martha served as a member of The Eleven Club, and the Town Square Committee. Besides her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jim Clendenen; sister, Ann Catherine Gillespie; brother-in-law, Lester Gillespie; brother, Jim Bane; sister-in-law, Pearl Bane; daughter-in-law, Diane Clendenen. Survivors include: son, Spenny Clendenen; daughter, Cathy Hutton (Bill); grandchildren: Dr. Bob Hutton, Martha Quirarte (Luis), Kimberly Franklin (Denny), Jon Clendenen (Katie), Rachel Cobb (Ryan). Great grandchildren include: Juda Quirarte, Chen Quirarte, Lilly Cobb, Hannah Cobb, Abel Quirarte and Bonnie Quirarte, Sophia Franklin, Sydney Clendenen and Millie Clendenen; two nieces, two nephews, and many great nephews and great nieces also survive. The family appreciates devoted caregivers Kim Williams, Lisa Perrigan and the Quirarte family; and special nurses Christie Huff, Christina Kilby and Dawn Blevins. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Paul Griffith, will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 18, at Byars Cobbs United Methodist Church, Glade Spring. Visitation will be held in the fellowship hall of the church beginning at 11:00. Burial at Rose Lawn Cemetery will follow the funeral service. William Thomas Freeman, 83, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at his home after a long illness. He was a faithful Christian and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He retired from Marion Correctional Center in 1999 after 34 years of service. He loved gardening and working outside, which he did until he was no longer able. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Freeman Roland; his parents, James W. and Nannie Kate Freeman; his brother, Jack and sister-in-law, Maxine. Survivors include his wife Linda McKinnon Freeman of 61 years who was relentless in caring for him; his grandsons, Kreig Roland and wife Lisa and Tyler Roland and wife Hanna; great granddaughter, Olivia Pearl Roland; brother-in-law, Ronnie McKinnon and wife Heather; sister-in-law, Jill McKinnon; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Danny Roland (son-in-law who was the same as a son) and wife Lisa have remained a big part of the family; Steve Cregger who was his buddy; and two special "adopted" great grandchildren, Kaydyn and Sophie. Funeral services will be conducted 7 PM, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Roland and Rev. Dennis Eller officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11 AM Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM Tuesday prior to the funeral service at the church.
