Cadillac - William "Bill" Cowin, of Cadillac, Michigan, passed away October 3, 2023 He was 76 years old Bill was born on November 29, 1946, to Robert Garvin and Amber June (Garn) Cowin He was a 1965 graduate of Cadillac High School He then went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Ferris State University Bill proudly served the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam Era After returning to Cadillac, he worked at Baird, Cotter, and Bishop P C He then opened his own business of Cowin Accounting and Tax Service, which he successfully ran for 37 years He volunteered on the Haring Township Board, the Wexford County Authority Airport Board, and the Tri County Bussing Board Bill met and married the love of his life, Susan Kay Miller, of Grand Rapids, Michigan They were married for 54 wonderful years and blessed with two sons, Tom and Michael, and four grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, William, and Jon One of the many qualities about Bill was his ability to make everyone laugh. . . young and old alike Rarely could you walk into a room where he was and not find yourself laughing Playing and listening to music was one of Bill's favorite pastimes As a member of the Jack Natty Band and Cambio, he loved percussion instruments Some of his many hobbies included camera, radio, and stamp collecting, astronomy, and playing racquetball Bill had a love of the outdoors and nature, which he passed on to his sons Most family vacations were spent camping, fishing, and boating He was also known to have a love of all animals, with his dog, Shirley, being at the top of his list Bill and Sue spent many winters in Florida, enjoying the beaches, fishing, looking for shells and being with the many friends they made He is survived by his loving wife, Sue, sons Tom Cowin of Paw Paw, and Michael (Michelle) Cowin of Rockford, grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, William, and Jon, sister Jane Cowin (Ken Nielsen), of Paw Paw, cousin Ann (Chet) Wasson, of Cadillac, and many cousins, nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Amber Cowin Please join us for a Celebration of Life, Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 1:00 at Willow Greenhouse, 916 S Mitchell St , Cadillac, to meet with the family and celebrate Bill's life A military Honor Guard will conclude the celebration Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Michigan Condolences and memories may be shared online at www hitesman-Holdship com

Dianna Sue Herringa, age 82, a lifelong resident of Cadillac passed away on November 20, 2023. She was born on November 8, 1941 in Cadillac to Louis and Margaret (Champayne) Herringa. Dianna retired from Mercy Hospital's kitchen service after many years. She was an interesting and eccentric person, pursuing many hobbies and collecting rocks, books, folk art, and figurines. She loved the circus and elephants. The more unusual something was, the more she liked it. She was artistic, often turning the mundane into something special with her camera lens. More than anything, she was a friend to every animal she encountered. She especially loved cats and small dogs, proving shelter and a great home to many throughout her life. She was loved and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her siblings; Michael Herringa of Cadillac, Patrick (Judith) Herringa of Cadillac, Sarah Maddox of Traverse City, and Carol (Tim) Bradley of Grand Haven, sister in-law Jan Herringa of Lake Ann, and special niece Julie Herringa of Cadillac, as well as many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents, brothers; Daniel and John Herringa, sister Judy (Pete) Crow, sister in-las Jenny Herringa, brothers in-law; Robert Maddox and Roy Post. She will have a graveside service in spring of 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations to local animal shelters are encouraged. Eileen May VanderVlucht, age 84 of McBain passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Sunnyside Senior Living in Cadillac. She was born on May 7, 1939 in Bagley, Minnesota to Norman and Wilma (Norby) Nelson. In 1959 she married Bradley B. Hinton; he preceded her in death in 1984. She then remarried to William "Bill" VanderVlucht in 1990, he also preceded her in death in 2022. Eileen was a dedicated nurse that worked for Mercy Hospital in Cadillac as well as Amicare Homecare and Hospice. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting as a hobby, and was a member of the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas. She is survived by her children; Mark (Shannon) Hinton of Green Bay, WI, Michael Hinton of Minneapolis, MN, and Amy Hinton of Farwell, stepchildren; Kari (Lum) Hughston of McBain, Randall VanderVlucht of McBain, 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, siblings; Alan Nelson of New Baltimore, Pamela (Don) Paginini of El Cajon, CA, Edith (Mike) Caldwell of Cadillac, and Diane (George) Elwell of Clarkston. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepson; Jeffery VanderVlucht. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 16th at 1:00 PM at the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Pastor Kathy Vana officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service at the church. A luncheon will take place after the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to World Vision, or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
