Kurt Alan Heckman, age 65, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was born December 4, 1958 in Freeport, Illinois to Patricia Hutter and Donald Heckman. He graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1977. He married the love of his life Traci Mitchell on May 23, 1994. Kurt was an outdoorsman, he liked to garden, fish, and camp. He was proficient in hunting, specifically bowhunting and even created his own ammunition. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, old Westerns, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Atlanta Braves. Kurt was a proud member of the NRA. Kurt is survived by his wife, Traci Heckman; children, Amanda (Michael) Heckman, Brittany (Josh) Hicke, Austin (Elizabeth) Hodyniak, and Emily Heckman; grandchildren, Makenna, Mason, Brayden, Lily, and Lucy; siblings, Mark (Jeri) Heckman, Bruce (Janet) Heckman, Scott (Nancy) Heckman, Terri (Scott) Carle, and Brian (Denise) Hutter; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Hutter and Donald Heckman; and his children, Tyler James Heckman and Daniel Joseph Heckman. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Services at a later date.

Wayne "Pep" M. McDaniel, age 79, of Machesney Park, Illinois joined his Valentine, Vicki, in Heaven on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Pep was born in Rockford, Illinois on May 11, 1944 to George and Verna McDaniel. He graduated from Rockford West High School in 1962. Shortly after graduating he met the love of his life, Vicki Rinaldi. On August 15, 1964 he married Vicki; they spent 37 beautiful years together until Vicki's passing in 2002. Pep was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 219. He worked at Larson Sheet Metal for over 40 years until retiring at the age of 59. Pep was a die hard Cubs and Bears fan. He was an avid golfer with the rare achievement of not only one hole in one but two! His favorite moments were spending time with his girls and their families until he got the vacuum cleaner out. Gardening, horseshoes and beer were a couple of other hobbies he enjoyed. Pep is survived by his daughters, Cammi (Jim) Fosse, Michelle (Greg) Hamil, Keli (Steve) Cloyd, and Heather (Tod) Vrolyk; grandchildren, Nick (Bethany), Angella (Cory), Logan (Teresa), Ashley, Anna (Steve), Jonathan, Noah, Cameron H., Kierra, Matthew (Allix), Cameron C., Hailey, and Trevor; great grandchildren, Kiley, Kayden, Mayleigh, Gabby, Hudson, Kaiden, Tanner, Cole, Jax, Jordy, Victor, Levi, Stevie, Zach, Kennadie, Katie, and Gracie; mother-in-law, Frances Rinaldi; sister-in-law, Ginger (Jerry) Bartscher; brother-in-laws, Dennis (Patrice) Rinaldi and Alex Toth; girlfriend of 10 years, Joan Buttacavoli; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki McDaniel; parents, George and Verna McDaniel; father-in-law, Victor Rinaldi; siblings, Anna Meyers, Carl "Bud" Marine, George "Chip" McDaniel, Marion McDaniel, Mildred Schiro, Charles McDaniel, and Wanda Toth; brother-in-law, David Rinaldi; granddaughter-in-law, Wendy Fry. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Samantha RN, Kayla RN, Brad RN, Kenzie RN, Lonnie CNA, Valerie RN, and the entire OSF Staff. Betty J. Leslie, age 94, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Betty was born in Springfield, Illinois on April 2, 1929 to Harold and Loraine Frantz. In 1992 Betty retired from Warner Lambert after 24 years. In her free time Betty enjoyed quilting and ceramics. She truly loved her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty's absence leaves an immeasurable void, she will be forever missed by all who were fortunate to share in her life. Betty is survived by her children, Dennis (Elaine) Leslie, Michael ( Paulette) Leslie, Linda (Michael) Shanley, Scott (Danelle) Leslie, and Kelli (Charlie) Rawhoof; grandchildren, Erin, Timothy, Tracey, Kurt, Shannon, Patrick, Alison, Jennifer, Philip, Luke, and Ian; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Donald R. Leslie; 8 siblings. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 11am until the Time of Sharing at 1pm at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). A Private Family Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens the following day. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to OSF Hospice. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Patt Schmoldt, OSF Hospice and all the nurses who took amazing care of Betty.

Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Grantham, 60, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, surrounded by her family at Swedish American Hospital. Becky was born on October 16, 1963, to Robert Garst and Joyce Gray in Dixon, Illinois. She graduated from Winnebago High School before moving to Florida and meeting the love of her life, Emory Grantham. They were married on February 9, 1985, and recently celebrated 39 years of marriage. In 1990, she and her family moved back to Illinois. Becky loved to spend time with her family, especially with her grandbabies and her furry friend Sadie. She also enjoyed her time with the camping girls. When the weather permitted, you could find her sitting on her deck by the pool, often times with her mother Joyce. She is survived by her husband, Emory Grantham; son, David Grantham; daughter, Cassi (Kyle) Grantham; mother, Joyce Gray; grandchildren, Maverick and McKenzie; siblings, Rocky (Lisa) Garst and Amanda Messenger; furry friends, Sadie and Oso. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Garst and brother, Robert “Louie” Garst.

Linda R. Stoinski, 78, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away surrounded by her family in the early hours of Sunday, February 4, 2024. Linda was born to Francis and Alice Stock in Chicago on June 27, 1945. Growing up in Chicago, Linda found herself learning the ways of a devout Catholic attending Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart, Chicago IL. She was active in all parishes in which she was a member (Prince of Peace, Lake Villa IL, St. Bede, Ingleside, IL, St. Bridget’s, Loves Park IL) & would find her place in the church community every Sunday. Linda was a passionate beautician for over thirty years. She was a creative seamstress, baker and a generous self-less volunteer to others. Linda worked at State Bank of (Antioch) the Lakes, after attending Mario Tricoci Beauty School, worked at Mueller Hair Salon, Raymond’s Hair Design, and a sales representative of Party-Lite, Nu Skin, and Satin Smooth. Linda was an amazing source of selfless giving and generosity throughout her whole life. A devoted wife to Robert for over 60 years, a loving mother of four children and eleven grandchildren. Linda was well loved and respected by her three sisters, two brothers, her nieces and nephews and extended family. Linda enjoyed numerous and deep friendships throughout her life with her generous inclusiveness and caring for others. She was known as a ‘second mom’ to many of her nephews and nieces and ‘second grandma’ to their children. She was rarely found idle due to her industrious spirit and blessed with talents for cooking, sewing, crafts, hair design, and always found ways to share her talents and gifts with everyone around her. Volunteering her time and giving to others was her passion. She was a part of the Catholic Women’s’ League and Sewing guild. She is survived by the love of her life, Robert Stoinski; children, Karen L. (Stoinski) Lynch of Denver, Colorado, Steven R. (Linda Wachholz) Stoinski of Lander, Wyoming, Kenneth A. (Mary Kay Charles) Stoinski of Wittenburg, Wisconsin, and Michael W. (Heidi Carlson) Stoinski of Lindehurst, Illinois; grandchildren, Matthew, Kendall, Luke, Jacob, Benjamin, Rachel, Kelsey, Andrew, Joshua, Allison, and Adalaide; siblings, Carole Ann (Stock) Becker of Antioch, Illinois, Michael (Rita Devine) Stock of Des Plaines, Illinois, and Gregg Stock of Kenosha, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Alice; siblings, Jean (Stock) Mack, Patricia (Stock) Gazdzicki, and Judy Stock.

Clark, 77, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, February 2, 2024, in her home.  Born February 2, 1947, in Walker, MN, the daughter of Addrain and Beula (Davis) Travis.  She married Tommy Clark on October 27, 1964, in Omaha, NE.  Employed by Walter Lawson Children’s Home for several years.  Member of United Methodist Church.  Sharon took great pride being a wife and mother.  She enjoyed traveling, baking, and gardening.  The family feels blessed to have had such a wonderful person a part of our lives.  Thanks for the memories, Mom.  Survivors include her husband, Tom; her children, James (Lerma) Clark, Lisa (Lynn Kearney) Clark, Julie (Mitchell) King; granddaughter, Jamie (Dan); brother, Dale (Elsa) Travis; sister-in-law, Corey Travis; several nieces and nephews; loving dog, Pixie.  Predeceased by her parents; grandsons, Jimmy Clark and Travis King; brother, Merrill Travis.  Special thanks to OSF Hospice for their love and care. Patricia A. Darnell, 85, of Machesney Park, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side. Patricia was born in Rockford on Christmas in 1938 to Harold and Rossella McDevitt. She married the love of her life James Darnell in 1959, who preceded her in death in 2021. Patricia was a beautician her entire life, and was the proud owner of Darnell Beauty, which was operated right inside her Machesney Park home. She loved to go bowling whenever she had the chance, especially on the Early Bird bowling league at Park Lanes. Patricia was also a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs. Above all else, family was everything to Patricia. She loved spending every minute she possibly could with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to bake for them, and some of her signature recipes would include Pumpkin Pie and Banana Bread. Patricia is survived by her four daughters, Gail (Tim) Toepfer, Sue (Chris) Konitski, Linda Myers and Johanna Marshall; grandchildren, Gregory (Heather) Konitski, Rhiannon Konitski, Stephanie Toepfer, Christopher Toepfer, Savannah Myers and Zachary Myers; great-grandchildren, Chevelle, Arwen, Milo, Ivan, Saga and Max; siblings, Gary (Debbie) McDevitt and Muriel; her grand-dog Charlie. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Harold and Rossella; siblings, Richard McDevitt, Doris Covert, and Harold McDevitt; her beloved dog Pooter, and her grand-dogs Copper and Tasha. A visitation for Patricia will take place at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM, until the time of her funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Jerry Eugene Heinzeroth

Jerry Eugene Heinzeroth, 81, passed away in his home on January 19, 2024. Jerry was born on April 11, 1942, in Rockford, IL, the son of Edwin and Ella (Timm) Heinzeroth. He met the love of his life, Barbara, in 1960 while both were attending West High School. They were married in 1963. Two sons followed, Brock in 1966, and Blake in 1975. Along with Barb, Jerry had a passion for cooking which led to them opening a bakery, authoring a cookbook, and teaching cooking classes. They also traveled extensively and collected art from around the world. Jerry was a creative spirit, a patent-holding engineer / inventor, and an epicurean at heart who had a passion for theater, fine art, music, architecture, gourmet food, and wine. In 2004 Jerry embarked on a mission to work with Ken and Phyllis Laurent to establish their Frank Lloyd Wright designed Laurent House as a public museum for Rockford. Jerry was the Founder and President Emeritus of the Laurent House Foundation which was established through his significant efforts and enjoys great success today. Jerry is survived by his sons Brock and Blake, and brothers Robert, Ronald, and Richard. Predeceased by his parents, wife Barb, and daughter-in-law Karen (Blake) Heinzeroth. A Celebration of Life Service will be held February 12, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL. from 4-7pm. Food will be served. Memorial donations may be given to the Laurent House Foundation, Inc., 4646 Spring Brook Rd., Rockford, IL 61114.

Rodney Wayne Callahan, age 68, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. He was born October 19, 1955 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Charlotte (Kight) and James Callahan. He married the love of his life, Alice Callahan in August of 1979 and they spent 45 wonderful years together. Rodney was an avid Chicago Bears fan, he also enjoyed watching the Bulls. He enjoyed being outside, taking care of his lawn and vegetable garden, and feeding the squirrels. In his younger years he enjoyed playing golf. He is survived by his wife, Alice Callahan; sisters, Mary (Terry) Norris and Linda (Curtis) McIntyre; stepson, Stephen Miller; grandsons, A.J. Degenhardt and Derrek Degenhardt; special person, Brenda Misuraca; special friend Chris Lindstrom and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte and James Callahan; and special friend Greg Lindstrom. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family. A visitation for Rodney will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM.
