William Lewis Amour We had to say goodbye to William (Bill) Armour on September 7, 2023. He passed away peacefully at home which was his wish. This was made possible through the loving and wonderful care given by of his wife of 61 years, Gail . He was top priority and she unselfishly put everything else on hold.

Love was not just in her name, it was in the way she lived her life and served others. April was married to the love of her live, Robert Lee Love for the last 50yrs. She enjoyed serving in hospitality with her church friends and family and ran a successful sandwich shop in Greensboro, Amy's Sandwich Shop for many years. More than anything, she loved her family. To her, true family wasn't always about blood. She believed that people were placed in our paths for a reason and believed in pouring herself into others regardless of what it cost. Among her passion for others, she was a devoted wife, mother and "bubba" (grandmother). She was beautifully unselfish and loved to share in meals, cookouts and celebrations. Her warmth and humor often brought light and comfort, and her generosity and resolve earned her the admiration of many. Her legacy of love and service will be treasured and remembered forever. She left this earth on Monday, December 4th to enter heavens gates and celebrate her home going with her son, Phillip Curtis, mother, Inez Norris, father, C. B. Everhart and Step-father J. P Norris. Left to celebrate her home going is husband, Robert Lee Love, daughter, Amy E Love, grand-daughter Daylyn E Love and countless friends and loved ones whom she considered her family. Douglas James Myers (Doug) of Greensboro, NC, born in Philadelphia County, PA, (Mayfair), passed away on December 2, 2023, at 2:47 pm surrounded by loved ones. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Roy Charles Myers, mother Dorothy Ann Myers, and brother John A Myers. He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly J. Myers, daughters; Jessica D. Myers, Jynnafer M. Ryan (Michael), Katelynn N. Myers, stepson; Kenneth J. Campbell, brothers; Gordan D. Myers (Barbara), Michael D. Myers (Dinah), Roy H Myers (Sue), grandchildren; Sophie and Patrick, along with numerous loved nieces and nephews. Doug, Dad, Poppy, Vern, and brother will be remembered as a man who loved to laugh and crack a joke. He was a man with a big heart who enjoyed socializing with loved ones. He opened his arms and his heart to be a father to 3 little girls which in itself shows the type of beautiful, compassionate person he was. He always had a funny story to tell and could banter politics with the best. He loved music, all music and it shows in his collection. Jessica will miss her best friend. No matter the situation, its outcome or its cause, she knew he always had her back. Every major personality trait she loves about herself can be attributed to a specific instance with her father. From long X-Files marathons to crying over Harry Potter movies, she'll love you more always Butthead. Jynnafer will miss his laugh, his random loud singing, and more than anything, hearing her son yell "POPPY" any time he saw him. She will reminisce on the many road trips with the family and watching the sun rise at the beach. 'Piece by piece, he restored my faith that a man could be kind and a father could stay' will always be our song. Katelynn will remember the comical belching competitions during holiday dinners, making jokes about watching Titanic; just one more time, crying over every rom-dram on the TV, always asking if I wanted pork rinds because they were my favorite when they were actually his, "I love you girls" during every goodbye. Kim will miss the quiet early morning hours of conversation. The beautiful garden that he would maintain throughout the week and weekend. His random I love you text messages every day. His singing to Buddy, Allie, and Noah the puppies. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made in Douglas' name to the Guilford County Animal Shelter.Show more

Minister Georgia Pennix was born to Marietta Jenkins and George Washinton Pennix of Greensboro, North Carolina on September 21, 1944. She was called from labor to reward and entered her heavenly home on Monday November, 27 2023. Georgia was an alum of Laughlin School. She went on to further her education at the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University where she earned her bachelors in recreation and masters in physical education. Georgia began her career at the YWCA of Greensboro as the program administrator where she founded the original pregnant teen program. She then heard the calling and dedicated her life to Christ and Ministry at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. It is at her beloved church home where she was the first minister to be licensed and ordained by Bishop George W Brooks. She took pride in being active in various ministries including the Children's Church, Deliverance ministry (Sword of the spirit) the Virtuous Women& 39;s Prayer Ministry, Helping Hands Ministry and Senior Adult Ministry which brought her great joy where she touched the lives of many and made a fond impression on many in the community. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Lisa Pennix, granddaughter Myia Johnson, sisters Gloria Isley, Gegurtha Halloway,the late Ceola Lindsey Brothers Donald Lee Trapp, Horace D. Pennix Sr. and a host of nieces and nephews, cherished friends and beloved church family. Acknowledgements A special thanks to PACE of the Triad for the exceptional care provided to Georgia. She shared many special moments with participants and the staff. The family extends their gratitude for giving Georgia so much to look forward to each day she was in attendance. Peggy Sue Jones, aged 68, transitioned from this earthly realm on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital. Her luminous spirit graced this world on March 13, 1955, in Ohio, born to the loving embrace of Leonard Marcum and guided by the radiant memory of her late mother, Patsy L. Cotter. A luminary of resilience and enterprise, Peggy embarked on life's journey, a graduate in high school who also pursued the artistry of cosmetology. She wove the fabric of her days as a serial entrepreneur, painting her canvas with the vibrant hues of her passions. Her soul danced in the joy of familial bonds and cherished friendships, finding solace in the embrace of loved ones. Peggy's heart found its melody in travel's wanderlust, the rhythmic hum of a sewing needle, the alchemy of culinary artistry, the adornment of jewels, the creation of welcoming sanctuaries, and the quiet wisdom found between the pages of books. A seeker of spiritual truths, Peggy's essence resonated with a profound understanding of Love as her guiding creed. She illuminated conversations with spiritual grace, gently fostering enlightenment in those around her. In a testament to love's enduring strength, Peggy and Sidney joined hands in marriage on June 30, 1973, in Maine, just six years following the federal recognition of interracial unions. Their union braved adversity, standing tall for five remarkable decades, a beacon of unwavering devotion, urging others to embrace love's boundless resilience across all barriers. Peggy's love was boundless, a magnetic force drawing countless hearts towards her warmth. She wove a tapestry of kinship, transforming friends into family. Her capacity for forgiveness and love transcended language, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her love extended abundantly to her seven cherished grandchildren, each one a testament to her boundless affection. She embodied fierceness in the face of adversity, infusing every moment with artistic expression, intelligence, and a playful, resilient spirit. Peggy is survived by her beloved husband of five decades, the esteemed Mr. Sidney Vincent Jones. Their legacy continues through their three devoted children and their spouses: Minden and James Barrile, Holly and James Moran, and Adam and Beth Jones. Her luminosity shines through her seven grandchildren: Atman Barrile, Anthony Moran, Levi Moran, Joshua Moran, Elijah Jones, Emily Jones, and Evelyn Jones. In her transition, Peggy joins her mother, Patsy L. Cotter, preceded by her sister Ethel Penney and brother Jimmy Adkins.
