Age - 77
December 7, 2023
"Michael G. Colombaro, 77, of Vernon, CT, passed away peacefully from COPD on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Manchester Memorial Hospital with family by his side. He was born in Rockville, CT, son of the late Gino and Harriet (Grosch) Colombaro. Mike served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam-era and had worked as an inspector at Amerbelle Corporation for many years. Prior to that, he was a disc jockey on several radio stations in New England. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Cindy (Maciolek) Colombaro; four children, Sherry Colombaro Lawrence and her husband Stephen, Kathryn DeBiase and her husband Andrew, Joshua Maciolek and his fiance Shanna Steele, and Rachael Freeman; seven grandchildren, Peter, Grace, Myla, Layla, Emma, Charles, and Mason; three siblings, Francis Colombaro and his wife Frances, Mary Lee, and Kathleen Colombaro; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother-in-law Bob Croston. From an early age, Mike was gifted with musical talent. Over the years, he honed his skills and collaborated with songwriters like Gene Pitney. His favorite song that he composed in recent years was "Talk it over with Jesus" which truly reflected his heart and love for his Savior. He was also gifted with a wry sense of humor. He could never resist a good pun or a joke. (For the record, yes, he did stay up at night thinking up jokes to tell). He loved to bring a smile to everyone. Mike was a devout Christian, and he asked everyone he would talk with if they knew the Lord. He loved the Lord with every fiber of his being, found awe in nature and enjoyed sharing that with everyone. Mike would lend a hand to anyone in need and found great joy in serving others. He loved his family dearly and was very proud of them. He was a devoted dad, stepdad and grandpa and while healthy, never missed a dance recital, dramatic production, sporting event, or graduation. He loved watching UCONN basketball and rarely missed a game for either team. He was also glad to have seen the Boston Red Sox win the World Series in his lifetime. In recent years he learned the joy of serving and ministering to others and could be found always helping at Hope Springs Church in Stafford Springs, until he was no longer physically able. He was able to fulfill what he felt was his true calling- ministering to ministers. Well done, good servant. His family would like to give special thanks to the medical professionals who cared for him for many years: Dr. Raymond Sullivan, Dr. Claudio Milite, Dr. Michael Bey, and Dr. Faustinus Onyirimba. Special thanks also to Hazel at Fox Hill Nursing Home for her care when he was in rehab, and the team of nurses led by Kai at Manchester Hospital who cared for him in his final hours. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 AM, with a memorial service to take place at 11:00 AM, at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc. , 51 East Main St. , Stafford Springs, CT. The service will conclude with Military Honors.
