Neil Mabe, 69, of Lenoir, NC passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Neil was born on July 5, 1954, to the late John and Jewel Mabe. Those left to cherish Neil’s memory are his daughter, Natalie Mabe, brother, Johnny Mabe and his partner Cindy. Neil was a wonderful father and brother. He loved fishing, being outdoors, and his dogs. Being in his boat was his happy place. He enjoyed cooking the fish he caught and sharing with his daughter. Neil was a Nascar fan. He loved to watch Gunsmoke in which he named his beloved dog, Festus. Neil was loved by his friends and family who will always keep his memory. Earl F Moore Sr., 83, of Lenoir NC passed away peacefully on 2/22/24 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on 12/13/1940 in Wilkes county to Wilson Moore and Peggy Shew. Throughout his life he brought happiness to many with his words of wisdom and love. In addition to his parents, he proceeded in death by Hershey, Agnes, Ruby, Glenn, Francis, Pearl, Harrison, and Dorris. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife Mable, his kids Paul, Becky, Susan “tooter”, Carolyn “Bird”, Earl Jr “Bubby”, Onretta “Squeaky”, and his granddaughter/daughter Leanna “Lulu” And all of his 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was with his loving wife Mable since January, 8th 1963. They spent a lot of their days doing things with their kids and grandkids. Going hunting, fishing, going to the flea market, and dancing to country music. Earl and Mable loved to work in their gardens providing food for their family. And you would always find them sitting on the porch talking and joking. He loved to make people laugh and he would love to tell stories about his life. If there was one thing to say about Earl it’s that he always made sure his family was protected and taken care of. He is going to be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. She was the daughter of James M. Whitworth, Jr.,and Catherine E. Whitworth, both of whom survived her.She was preceded in death by a nephew, Gavin Patrick Whitworth.In addition to her parents, she is survived by one son, Samuel M. Whitworth-Frye of Baton Rouge, LA; one daughter Catherine E. Oxford of Hickory; brother J. Brian Whitworth and wife Roxanne of Parkland FL; along with numerous cousins, and nephews.Kristin was a graduate of Hickory High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Western Carolina University in 1994, and later earned additional degrees in Early Childhood Education.Kristin was a very compassionate individual. She loved to laugh, was forgiving, kind and was always a ray of sunshine.A service to celebrate Kristin’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday February 29, 2024, at First United Methodist Church of Hickory, with the Reverends Paul Christy and Jennifer Forrester officiating. Pamela Sue Couey Pack, 59, of Gamewell, North Carolina passed away at Caldwell UNC Health on February 22, 2024 after complications from pneumonia. Pam was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, and her loss is huge to her family. Pam was born in Orange County, Florida on October 1, 1964 to the late Johnny Couey and Betty Jane Lawson Braddock. Pam also lived in Whitetop, Virginia as a child, but she spent the majority of her childhood in Ashe County in the neighborhoods of Buffalo Meadows and Nathan’s Creek. As an adult she lived in Wilkes County for a short while, but mostly lived in the Gamewell Community of Caldwell County, just outside of Lenoir, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved dog Random, her Uncle Vernie Farmer, and cousins David and Edna Mae King of Princeton, West Virginia. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 37 years, Jackie Pack of Gamewell; Daughter, Misty Hartzog (Bryan) and Granddaughters, Hannah and Rebecca of Millers Creek; Sister, Tammy Barnes (Timothy) of McGrady; Niece, Kayla (Cody) and great-niece, Eleanor “Ellie” Watson of Morganton; Other members of the Pack Family, including Ricky, Charles “Alan,” Susie “Sue,” Kathryn “Kat,”Anthony “Tony,” Summer, and Cloey (Nate); Cousin, Carol King Evans (Jim) and her children David, Isabella “Izzy”, and Lydia (Adam), along with all of her other Princeton, West Virginia Family; and her adored dog, Journey. Pam loved Classic Rock and Classic Country music, driving (especially her Trans Am and Jimmy), dancing, reading Chicken Soup books, Guideposts, and The Hunger Games; watching Twilight, playing cards, crafting, snowmen, horses, and traveling, especially to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Seeing snow always made her really happy, her favorite color was red, and she had a particular fondness for Sam Elliot. She loved Christmas and the Christmas Spirit, and would spend days in the kitchen baking cookies and making fudge for everyone that she loved while wearing bells on her shoes. She spoke often of her dreams of being a long-haul trucker, traveling the country, and seeing the leaves in New England. Pam’s bright red hair matched her fiery, stubborn, and wild personality, but nothing could compare to the love and pride that she felt for her family and friends. She will be missed beyond words. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Evans Funeral Home in Lenoir, NC beginning at 11 a.m. with a receiving of friends at 10 a.m. The burial will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Park following the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Foothills Canine Rescue, 220 Joycetown Church Rd SW, Lenoir, NC 28645 to celebrate her love of dogs and the care she felt they deserved.

Ina Mae Mitchell, age 88, of Lenoir departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at her home. She was born November 29, 1935 in Wyoming County, West Virginia to the late William Franklin Mitchell and Annie Isbell Mitchell. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, William D. Mitchell, George A. Mitchell, and Joseph J. Mitchell. At an early age Mrs. Mitchell accepted Christ. She was a life time member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Helen, West Virginia. She was the guardian angel over Frank Mitchell’s Family. She was a very calm, gentle, loving person and slow to anger nothing like her sister Barbara. That’s what her teacher used to tell her. She did all the cooking for the family’s special occasions. Those left surviving include her only sister, Barbara Mitchell Glover; nieces and nephews, Joseph James Mitchell, Jr., Randall Mitchell, Danny Mitchell, Rodriguez Mitchell, Sheri Mitchell, and Ann Mitchell; and a host of relatives and friends to cherish her loving memory. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Rev. James Wilfong officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews and cousins, flower bearers will be her cousins, and honorary pallbearers will be George Isbell, Michael Isbell, Harold Isbell, and Hardy Hendrix. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
