Wesley "Wayne" Smith, age 94, a resident of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, in Owasso, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 11:00 a. m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Pain officiating, interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lawton, Okahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors. The family will recieve friends for visitation on Thursday evening June 23, 2022 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p. m. Wayne was born October 20, 1927 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Claude Marion and Minnie Caroline Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his bride of 68+ years, Dortha Lee "Eppison" Smith, a son; Gary Wayne Smith and his six siblings and their spouses. He is survived by his son: Claude Smith and his wife Sharon of Euless, Texas, daughter: Leona Stall and her husband Ray of Collinsville, Oklahoma. Wayne was blessed to have 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He operated Hefner & Smith Painting in Duncan for 50 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He found it easy to speak with diverse people from children to succesful business people. Wayne enjoyed traveling, bike riding, flying, and especially after retirement working with such groups as Mullins Baptist Association Nail Benders, Oklahoma Baptist Men's Disaster Relief, and missionaries internationally. He made numerous Misson trips in the U. S. and internationally. His volunteer missons work allowed him to travel throughout the U. S. to many states doing work such as helping rebuild or remodel smaller churches as well as working on a chainsaw crew cleaning up after natural disasters such as hurricanes. His international mission trips included Mozambique, Malawi, Antiqua and Japan. In the local area he enjoyed working with the Mullins Baptist Association Nail Benders and World Changers Organization rehabilitating local dwellings or building handicap ramps for families in need. In Lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to Oklahoma Baptist Men's Disaster Relief program. He will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be Chris Donelson, Joel Smith, Derrick Heffington, Damon Phillips, Jack Hawkins. Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Morcum.
