Minnie Moon

Minnie Moon

Age - 77

November 9, 2023

Minnie Ann was the first of nine children born to Guadalupe and Olivia "Lilly" Arredondo. Minnie was born in Findlay, Ohio on December 26, 1945, and departed 77 years later on November 7, 2023 as a result of vascular dementia. The oldest of nine children, Minnie became a second mom to her siblings, rightfully earning her the title of "The Boss. " Minnie’s siblings included six sisters: Stella Gonzalez, Lidia Akers, Cindy Eguia, Diane Heinrich, Mary Geeting and Kathy Arredondo, and two brothers, George and Ernie Arredondo. As you might imagine, there was never a dull moment growing up with so many brothers and sisters. The Arredondo family continued to grow, reaching a number "too many to count. " After marrying Roger Dillard, Minnie added three sons of her own, James, Robert, and Roger "Tim" Dillard. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Brittany, Jordan, Robert, Nicholas, and Jessica and four great-grandchildren. Minnie and Roger eventually parted ways, paving the way for Minnie to meet and marry the love of her life, Mark Moon. With great love comes great loss. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, six of her siblings-Stella, Diane, Cindy, Mary, George and Ernie, her beloved husband Mark, two of her sons, Jimmy and Timmy, and her first born granddaughter, Brittany. As incredibly painful as each loss was, Minnie received great comfort knowing the immense joy and celebration that awaited her on the other side. Minnie attended Battle Creek Public Schools. Following high school Minnie joined the workforce. Never afraid to get her hands dirty, Minnie worked many years for her sister’s family business, Akers Wood products, making pallets, manning a saw, and coming home from work covered head to toe in sawdust. When she set her sights on retiring, Minnie took a job in the dietary department at the Battle Creek VA where she ended her career. When Minnie wasn’t working, she was playing. She and Mark loved to travel, taking frequent trips to Michigan’s UP and month-long road trips out west. She loved to garage sale, and thrift shop at the "G-Dub" (Goodwill) and Salvation Army. Minnie enjoyed family gatherings, never missing an opportunity to take pictures with her disposable Fuji camera. Minnie had a bit of a sweet tooth and loved her coke. Rest assured if you showed up at Minnie’s house you had jars of candy to choose from. She balanced her sweet tooth with a love for walking and exercise. Never one to sit still, it was important to Minnie to stay fit. She will be remembered as a woman of impeccable taste, who maintained a beautiful home, was dressed to impress, and had the most beautifully polished nails. Above all, Minnie was raised to love Jesus. Minnie was a faithful member of the Andrus Street Church of God, before becoming too ill to attend. Minnie did God’s work, spreading his love to the world. She opened her heart and home to many. In her death, Minnie wants you to rejoice. We take comfort in Minnie’s departing words "Lord when I take my final breath and see you face-to-face in death, then shall my heart forever sing the praises of my King. For the follower of Jesus, death means Heaven, happiness, and him. Praise the Lord, I made it home! At death, God’s people don’t say goodbye, but we’ll see ya later. " Special thank you to Jennifer Geeting for her devoted care which allowed Minnie to remain independent as long as she did. In addition, thank you to Amber Rolin, Rob and Kari Dillard, and Jo Cleland. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a. m. , Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Andrus Street Church of God.
