Wendolyn Pearl Eaton of Metuchen, NJ, died peacefully surrounded by family on October 4th , following a prolonged period with leukemia. Born in Barnstable, MA, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Fish (Harris) and Forrest Eaton (Mae). Wendy grew up in Harwich, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. An alumna of Northfield Mt. Hermon School, Rutgers University, and NJCU, she had an MA in Special Education and School Administration. After a fulfilling career, first as a teacher of special education, and then as an administrator, Wendy retired from her role of school principal following 30 years of service with the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey. Wendy was an advocate of voting rights and women's equality, with particular interest in the League of Women Voters and Common Cause. She was a past president of the GFWC North Plainfield Junior Woman's Club (1983-1985) and attended the 2017 Women's March on Washington. She had the good fortune to travel extensively with her loving husband and best friend, Alan Grossman. During her lifetime, she visited all 50 of the United States. Spending time with her family was her favorite pastime, and she cherished the opportunities they had together. Wendy is survived by five children: Seth (Krista) Fort Dix, NJ: Aaron (Malia) New Braunfels, TX; Ethan (Sarah) Seattle, WA; Adam Metuchen, NJ; Rebecca (Jason) Metuchen, NJ; and five grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by sisters Donna, Allyson (Marc) and brothers Al (Barbara) and Ronald, as well as many extended family members and close friends. Gratitude is extended to all who are blood donors, volunteers who organize blood drives on behalf of others, and individuals registered as stem cell/bone marrow donors through Be the Match. A celebration of life will held be at a future date.
