Negotha M. (Stevens) Coleman, 1938-2024, 85 years old, of Cynthiana, KY, formally of Blairtown, Pike County, KY. On Saturday, March 2, 2024, she was ready to hear Jesus say “welcome home sweet child of mine”. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Services to be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., all at Ware Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 27 N, Cynthiana, KY 41031, with Bro. Dale Kendrick presiding over services, interment will be at 4:00 P.M. at Davidson Memorial Gardens, 5287 US Highway 23, Ivel, KY, 41642. Negotha was born in Freeborn, KY, to Orvil and Hazel (Adkins) Stevens and was the eldest of four daughters, all deceased; Gayaudrey and Barbara Ann Stevens of Blairtown, KY, and Mellie Jean (Stevens) Mullins of Cowpen, KY. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Sarah (Adkins, Robinson) Stevens, and her adoring husband of 66 years, Bill Coleman. Negotha is survived by and is the precious mother of Beverly (Ed) Stump of Russell, KY, Bill M. (Marcy) Coleman of Georgetown, KY, Letitia (Chris) Damron of Lexington, KY. In addition to her three children, she leaves behind six grandchildren: of Russell, KY, Brandy (John) Preston; of Pinson, AL, Eddie (Summer) Stump; of Georgetown, KY, Rachel (Robin) Kenley, Jason (Lisa) Coleman; of Lexington, KY, Joshua (Heather) Damron; of Brooklyn, NY, Isaiah (Kelli) Damron; and twelve great grandchildren: J.D. (Jessica) Preston; Sara (Anthony Stone) Preston; Ryan, Blake, Brody Stump; Brycen, Anistyn Kenley; Madison, Brooklynn, Alexa Damron; Ayla, Elliot, Caiden Damron; and three great-great grandchildren; Walker Preston; Greyson Stone, Orlando Damron, and the goodest girl canine, Cassie. Graduating from Pikeville College and receiving her master’s degree from Morehead State University, she began her teaching career at Brushy Creek and finished at Mullins School, Pike County, KY. Negotha cared deeply for her middle and high school students, and they her. Never a more dedicated daughter, sister, wife, and mother has walked the earth. Negotha was a great listener and a fountain of wisdom which she shared with a humble heart. She enjoyed teaching, drawing, painting, reading, square dancing, studying, and discussing the Bible. She was never more content than when she was surrounded by family. Negotha had and was a loyal friend to many and enjoyed her time with the Sunshine Circle. For it could be said of Negotha: Her price is far above the rubies and her husband safely trusts in her. Her children rise up and call her blessed and she is a woman that reveres the Lord. Negotha worshipped her savior Jesus Christ as a member of Indian Creek Christian Church. Born August 25, 1940 in Harrison County to the late Irvin “Preacher” and Augusta Herrington Florence, Harold was a longtime roofer in the Cynthiana area. He is survived by his former wife, Cora Mae Simpson Florence; a son, Steven Wayne (Mary) Florence; 5 grandchildren: Allen Maybrier, Alex Maybrier, Tonya Applegate, Candy Wolf & Stevie Florence; and 3 sisters: Patricia Shanklin, Marcia (Jimmy) Simpson & Annette Florence, along with several great & great-great grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were a son, Tony Florence; a daughter, Tina Maybrier; 4 brothers: Irvin D., William, Ronnie & Melvin Florence; and 3 sisters, Anna Sue Fite, Barbara White & Nancy Lowery. Lois Beatrice Hillard Gravette, 93, of Lexington, passed away on February 25, 2024, in Cynthiana. Lois was born on April 22, 1930, in Laurel County, to Sarilda Mae Browning and Samuel Gilbert. She lived most of her life in Lexington where she worked as a waitress and owned her own grocery store. Lois loved crafting, sewing, crocheting, gardening and collecting a variety of items. Lois is survived by daughters Angela Gravette and Linda Gravette (Reggie) Gentry; stepdaughter, Janice Gravette (Wayne) Massengale; one brother, Green A. Hillard, Jr.; one sister, Donna Hillard Florence; nine grandchildren, Keegan and Truann Gravette, Heather Pickard Cardosa, James “Jamie” Romans, Anthony “Tony” Romans, Niles Romans, Jonathan Romans, Amber Romans; six step-grandchildren, Tadd Gravette, Julie Challender, Guy Toby Gravette, David Short, Dana (Greg) Williamson and Kellie Massengale. Lois has a total of eighteen great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren. Lois was predeceased by both parents and her stepfather, Green A. Geneva May Whitaker Jones Roark, 96, of Cynthiana, KY, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024. Born in Harrison County on March 15, 1927, the eleventh child of the late Archie Mack and Ollie Hiten Whitaker. She married Paul Jones on February 6, 1944, they had four children: Kenneth (Wanda) Jones, Janice (John) Caldwell, Ricky (Marcy) Jones, and Ronnie (Bernadine) Jones. Geneva and Paul had forty years together before his passing in April of 1984. She then married Charlie Roark about four years later. They had two plus years of marriage before his passing. Geneva is survived by her four children, grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Geneva was an avid reader, loved her church, Cynthiana Baptist Church, she was a real people person, as well as a Harrison County Homemaker. She will be missed dearly. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at Ware Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to services beginning at 10:00 A.M., also at Ware Funeral Home. Bro. Roger Anderson will preside over services, and burial will follow services at Beard Cemetery, 2601-2699 Davis Rd., Sadieville, KY 40370. Geneva’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Susan Wishart Russell Feix, 75, of Cynthiana, wife of the late Charles William “Charley” Feix, died Sunday, February 18, 2024 at her residence. Born August 15, 1948 in Cynthiana to the late Floyd L. & Jean Campbell Russell, she graduated from Transylvania University in 1970, where she was a proud member of the Chi Chapter of Chi Omega Fraternity. Susan later attended Georgetown College where she completed her Master’s Degree, and received her Rank One from the University of Kentucky. She began her teaching career at Little Picadome in Lexington, and then taught at Eastside Elementary School in Cynthiana for several years before staying home for thirteen years with her three children. In 1987 she returned to teaching and taught 6th grade at the Harrison County Middle School for 27 years where she created a reading system known as the Newbury Panel. Susan worked closely with the University of Kentucky in cultivating this program. She was a dedicated member of the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church, having served as an elder, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are two sons, Sam W. Arnold, IV, and John Russell (Crystle) Arnold, Sr.; a daughter, Anne W. (Roland) Arnold-Ratliff; four grandchildren, Catron Arleane Arnold, Campbell Anne Arnold, John Russell Arnold, Jr. and George William Nash Arnold; a dear friend, Michelle Ortiz, as well as the Families of Mary Ware Feix Bradford and Beth Feix. Casketbearers will be Steve Chasteen, Dr. Jim Clyde, Camron Faulkner, Mitchell Judy, Scott McCauley, Bob Ruth, Jared Thomas and Jimmy Wilson. Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 24th at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Greg Kupar and Dr. Greg Cooper with church doors opening at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Battle Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be sent to Bluegrass Hospice Care, Cynthiana Presbyterian Church, Scott County Humane Society-“For Pets’ Sake,” or the Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter.

He was born in Falmouth on July 5, 1928, son of the late Charles W. and Anna McKinney Logan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Staggs Logan. Donald was a United States Army Veteran, owner of Logan Lumber, Master of Orion Lodge 222, a member of Oakland Christian Church and the American Legion Post 109. Survivors include his sons Terry (Bonnie) Logan, Scott (Karen) Logan, grandchildren Alexandra Logan Moore, Madison Logan, Teresa Locknane, and Jason Logan, great grandchildren Christian and Heather Rick, Rhett Moore, Jacob Locknane, Kingston and Korbin Logan, Leah and Avery Fasse and great great grandchild Esmae Carlisle. A service will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.

Diana enjoyed watching soap operas, game shows, sewing, quilting, and strawberry milkshakes. She loved the lord and going to church. Family get-togethers and being around friends and family were favorites of hers, as well as spending time in her flower garden. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She is survived by her husband, Charles Wayne Fogle; two daughters, Donna Moran and Melissa Gail (Larry) Feeback; brother, Edward Ray (Denise) Fisher; sister, Bonnie Lou Fisher; grandchildren, Jared Lee (Deborah) Buenrostro, Jeffery Miguel (Shaylee) Buenrostro, Dustin Wayne (Sadie) Feeback, and Kristin Renee (Brandon) Feeback; great-grandchildren, Lukas, Louella, Lilly Jo, Lenora, Bennett, Link Buenrostro; and a host of nieces and nephews. "J. R. Hill, 88, of Cynthiana, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at his home. Born on December 16, 1935, in Bourbon County, KY, he was a son of the late Robert Orville and Nancy Ann (Hyatt) Hill. He worked as a quality manager for the Eaton Corporation and Grede Foundries, retiring in 2001 after 30 years of service. Prior to that, he worked as a quality supervisor with Kawneer in Cynthiana. J. R. had been a member of the Cynthiana Elks Lodge #438 since 1972, and he was a member of the Cynthiana Baptist Church. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Jane Carolyn Whitaker Hill; two sons: Barry Lane (Carla Perrin) Hill of Cynthiana, KY and Timothy Jay (Crystal Moore) Hill of Berry, KY ; two daughters: Joy Lynne Hill of Lexington, KY and Julie Anne (Tony) Gasser of Cynthiana, KY: 14 grandchildren: Jeromy Withers, Chris Withers, Codye McCann, Lucas Hill, Levi Hill, Carver Hill, Nathan Hill, Casey Hill, Jordan Gasser, Blake Gasser, Patricia Campbell, Brittany Campbell, Kara Paige Burdine, and Loren Adams; 31 great grandchildren; one brother Cecil Ross Hill of Georgetown, KY; two sisters: Margaret Cobb of Monroe, OH and Judy Richie of Cynthiana, KY; a special niece Nicole “Nikki” Richie; and a host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Herbert Orville Hill and Frank Kenneth Hill; and one sister Thelma Louise House. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Cynthiana Baptist Church. The visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Wednesday preceding the service.
