Gloria Ann Abbott, 77, of Woodstock, VA died on November 24, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Gloria was born on May 22, 1946, in Kilmarnock, VA and was raised in Lancaster, VA. She was the daughter of Bernard Anthony Sr. and Lottie (Conrad) Anthony, both deceased; and was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin F. Abbott Jr. ; two daughters, Wendy Marie Barton and Lynn Michelle Abbott; three brothers, Randolph Anthony, Bernard Anthony Jr. , and George Anthony; and two sisters, Dorothy Efford and Diana Lowery. She is survived by her son, James Abbott and wife Bethany, granddaughter Jamisen and grandson Bryson, all of Centreville, VA; Drena (Donnie) Smith of Wicomico Church, VA, Naomi Anthony of Mineral, VA and Larry Anthony of Dutton, VA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Soon after graduating from Lancaster High School, Gloria and her late husband Ben moved to Northern Virginia where she went to work as a civil servant for the Federal Government. Her job locations included the United States Navy Annex, The Pentagon, and finished at the United States Agriculture Department where she retired in 2005 after 28 years of government service. After retirement, Gloria and Ben moved to Woodstock, VA to enjoy the small-town life. Gloria loved her husband Ben very much and they were married for 48 years before his passing. There was no one she would have taken the journey of life with more than him. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; a very caring person who always put others in front of herself; and a strong-willed fighter to the very end. Visitation will be Tuesday November 28, 2023 from 5pm-7pm at Currie Funeral Home (E Church St. , Kilmarnock, VA 22482). Funeral services will be graveside at White Marsh Church (11040 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster, Virginia 22503) on Wednesday November 29, 2023 at 10am with Reverend Blythe officiating. Theoda Litzler, daughter of the late William "Bill" Williams and Lucy Williams was born in Stoddard County, Missouri on May 28, 1926, and went home to be with the Lord on November 13, 2023, in Woodstock, Virginia at the age of 97. Mrs. Litzler retired as a clerk from the United States Postal Service. She was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother who cared deeply for her family. She spent many hours praying for family and was the Prayer Warrior in our family! She enjoyed attending church, cooking, and working in her large garden. The fondest memories she readily shared were from her childhood where she talked about the many hours working in the fields with her father. She was united in marriage to James Grant Litzler on July 11, 1946, in Charleston, Missouri. She and Mr. Litzler shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Mr. Litzler preceded her in death on March 27, 2009. Together they raised three sons in their home in Dudley, Missouri: James Gary Litzler and Gina from Lebanon, Ohio "Mr. Litzler preceded his mother in death. " Richard Allen Litzler and Linda from Dexter, Missouri, and Myron Lynn Litzler and Donna from Stephens City, VirginiaMrs. Litzler also had two brothers, Raymond Williams and James Williams both deceased as well as two sisters, Marie Allstun and Clorine Shipman both also deceased. Mrs. Litzler is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed here on this Earth and is now rejoicing in Heaven with her loved ones who were waiting there for her!Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 9:30 a. m. until to 11:00 a. m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11:00 a. m. with Rev. Kent Miller officiating. She was born on October 8, 1957, in South Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Reverend Dr. Bill Russ, Sr. , and Bette Wilcox Russ. Betsy was a dedicated disciple, wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Doug Frazier, a son, Mark Frazier, and his wife, Jackie, a daughter, Caris Baker, and her husband, CJ, and her cherished grandchildren: Savannah Grace, Haven Elizabeth, and Vienna Louise. Betsy also leaves behind brothers, Joe Russ and Bill Russ, Jr. , and his wife, Cindy, as well as cousins residing in Florida, Texas, California, and China. She has two brothers-in-law, John Frazier and his wife, Arietta, and Mike Frazier, and his wife, Sharon. Betsy found her greatest joy in raising her children and caring for her husband. Betsy\u0027s choice to become a Professional Organizer was a testament to her commitment to serving others. Her unwavering dedication to helping others brought light into the lives of many. She was forced to end her career due to a disability. Betsy\u0027s passion for organizing and helping others was evident in her work and home, and she made a positive impact on many lives. Betsy would often be found scrapbooking, appreciating the beauty of life and preserving precious memories. Through her artistic expression, she captured the essence of cherished moments, creating tangible reminders of the love and joy she cherished with her family. She found satisfaction in this creative outlet, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful memories. A woman of faith, Betsy was centered in her devotion to God. She was a valued member of First Baptist Church - Woodstock, where she faithfully worshiped, served, and found community. Betsy\u0027s love and deep respect for others were evident in her daily interactions. She shared freely her love for people by sharing her light and love of life. A celebration of Betsy\u0027s life will be held at 11:00 am on October 26, 2023, at First Baptist Church - Woodstock in Woodstock, Virginia. The service will be officiated by Jeff Boggess, Lead Pastor of Atlee Church, Mechanicsville, Virginia. Atlee Church was the first church Doug and Betsy helped start after they were appointed as Church Planting missionaries and it is the church where Mark and Caris came to faith. Betsy loved being a Pastor\u0027s wife. She used her many gifts to meet the needs of the churches where they served together. Her warm and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. "Jewel Elaine Tolley, 79, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 in Woodstock, Virginia. She was a native and longtime resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late William and Hassie Hopson. Jewel was a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church in Johnson City. Her priorities in life was the Lord, her family and her church. Jewel loved witnessing, being a member of the church choir and leading children to the Lord though Bible School. Her main hobby was studying her Bible and her Church. Jewel loved shopping and eating out with her friends and family. She was a prayer warrior and led her family to the Lord. Jewel was selfless, she put everyone she loved first in all things. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Mack Tolley and three brothers, Charles, Truman and Milburn Hopson. Survivors include her children, Billy Tolley and his wife, Marlene of Jonesborough, Lori Stout and her husband, Jack of Johnson City and Jerry Tolley and his wife, JoAnn of Woodstock, VA; a brother, Harry Hopson and wife, Theresa of Roan Mountain; four grandchildren, Jacob Tolley and his fiancee, Jessie Latta, Logan Stefkovic and husband, Cody, Madison Bridwell and husband, Logan and Jarrett Tolley; great-grandchildren, Zamari Bridwell, Elijah Bridwell, Breylon Tolley and Lleyton Stefkovic; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Tolley will be conducted at 6:00 PM Friday, October 27, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church, 612 Collins Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604 with Pastor Michael Heath, Dr. Allen Davis and Rev. Mike Pelham officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Washington County Memory Gardens.
