"Bonnie Kay Martin was born on March 11, 1966, in Durant, Oklahoma to Joe and Diane (Harrison) Tinkler. Bonnie passed on February 22, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 57. A lifelong resident of Durant, Bonnie graduated from Durant High School. She has been married to Mark Miller for 24 years. She worked various jobs including breeding horses, secretary, and for a fitness center. The most thing that she enjoyed working at was in the construction business with Mark. She was a cheerleader in high school and a former member of the Durant Jaycees. She enjoyed body building, fishing, canoeing, snorkeling, and she deeply loved all animals. "Celebration of Life Service for Gina Bush will be Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 11:00 am in Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Gene Long officiating. Burial will follow in Covington Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation with family will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Regina “Gina” Marie Yates Bush was born on June 30, 1963 in Houston, Texas to Elzner Roy Yates and Virginia (Cisi) Marie Bateman and passed away on January 23, 2024 in Oklahoma City. She grew up in Enid and graduated from Chisholm High School. Gina was a waitress at Willow Inn and City Boots, owner of Last Honkey Tonk, and a data input specialist at Marsau. Gina was great at playing pool and loved to listen to music on her computer. She enjoyed singing karaoke, playing poker with the family and going to the casino. Gina liked to watch Dr. Phil and the Bachelor. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, she and her three sisters worked at the Navajo Drive-in. On July 12, 2008, she married Roland Bush. Gina was a loving daughter, wife, a nurturing and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Despite the hardships she faced in life, it never wavered her faith. She taught her children the Lord’s Prayer at a very young age and they said it together every night before bed. Gina was always very independent and always strived for better. She had a very strong and compassionate, yet feisty spirit that was contagious to everyone she came across. She loved going to the lake over the years with her family and close friends. Gina was blessed to have two loving and supportive men as her children’s fathers and they had always remained friends and great co-parents. Gina lived a full, adventurous life and she fulfilled the dreams that were most important to her. Her memory will live on through her loved ones and she will be dearly missed by many. Her dance on earth is over but has just begun in Heaven. Gina was preceded in death by her father; mother; sister, Mona; nephew, Mark; grandparents; many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband, Roland; children, Hayleigh Yates, Harley Harmon, Christopher Bush, Darcy Pearce; nine grandchildren Havyn, Olive, Hudson, Corbin, Riley, Luke, Roman, Cece and Jude; brother, Lyn Canady; sisters, Carolynn Frye and Gigi Bell; aunt, Marty Fisher; niece, Mirisa “Missy”; nephews, Brandon, Matthew, Andrew, Cobe and Samuel; other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the Gina Yates-Bush Go Fund Me account. Family dinner will be Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Elks Lodge, 700 W. Oxford."

Lynn Lucas

Lynn Lucas passed away February 25th at the age of 92 surrounded by her loved ones. Her life was centered on her faith in God and her family, including her church family. She shared six decades of companionship, love and laughter with her husband Luke. Together they raised their children in France, Spain, California, Arizona, and Oklahoma. One of her greatest joys was the time that she spent with her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved animals and all of her pets enjoyed the good life as a part of her family. She gave generously of her time and resources to charities for both people and animals. She volunteered for 41 years at Mercy Hospital sharing her compassion for helping people and her talents for organization, knitting and sewing. She never came across a problem that she couldn’t fix and made everyone feel like family. In her last hours she told her family that she was ready to begin a new journey. She began that journey with selflessness and grace, the same qualities that friends and family admired in her, every day of her life. Celebration of life will be Wednesday, February 28th, 1:00 pm at Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene, 4400 NW Expressway. Lynn wanted people to dress in bright colors (no black!) and encouraged jeans! In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to Best Friends Animal Foundation.

LADD, Nancy L., of Oklahoma City, passed away on February 25, 2024. She was born on July 27, 1942, in Durant, Oklahoma, the daughter of Geraldine Rice Ladd and Lane Monill Johnson. She was preceded in death by her beloved Mother, her beloved adopted Father, Harry M. Ladd, Jr., her biological Father, Lane Monill Johnson, and life-long friend, Claudia Naugle. She is survived by her cousin, Wilma Vick-McDaniel, daughters Casey Reid and Ashley Craig; her cousin, Nancy Kunkle and daughter Sherylyn Millard, special neighbor, Cathy Pugsley, and numerous other family members and friends. Nancy graduated from Classen High School and Oklahoma City University, and held a graduate degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She was a brilliant student and received multiple academic awards. Nancy then served for 24 years in the United States Air Force, stateside and overseas with more than 14 years at the Pentagon, retiring as a full Colonel. Her strong work ethic and spitfire personality catapulted her to the top in her career. She was a graduate of the Squadron Officer School, the Air Command and Staff College, the Armed Forces Staff College, and the Air War College. Her military decorations included the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and the Air Force Training Ribbon. After retiring from the Air Force, she accepted an appointment to the Senior Executive Corps in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon. She left that position in 1995 to return to Oklahoma City to be of assistance to her beloved parents. She accepted a two-year appointment from Governor Keating to serve as State Purchasing Director, overseeing all state purchasing activities. She simultaneously took extraordinary care of her parents. Her Father passed away in January 1999, and Nancy continued to care for her Mother until her death in April 2008. Following her retirement, Nancy was always busy with a project of some sort, helping someone in need, or taking someone to lunch. She spent much of her time devoted to genealogy research, writing several books on family lineages, and serving as Chair of Lineage Research for the Samuel King DAR Chapter. Visitation will be held Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. Services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:00 am at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Mary Ellen (Ely) Irwin

Mary Ellen (Ely) Irwin, age 93, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully Friday, February 23rd, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Mary Ellen was born to George and Hetty Ely on May 25th, 1930 in Mattoon, Illinois. She is remembered as being loving, kind, generous, and encouraging. She has been reunited in heaven with her husband Jim, the love of her life. They were members of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where they both sang in the choir for many years and enjoyed church activities. They enjoyed choral music, dancing to big band music, playing bridge, and hosting a notorious Christmas open house for family and friends. Mary Ellen was a very sociable person. Her sweet smile and easy conversation made for many lifelong friendships. She loved traveling with friends and family. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for cookies and apple pie. But most of all she treasured time spent with her family… and chocolate! She worked at Putnam City High School for twenty-five years. Initially a history teacher, and then a guidance counselor becoming head of counseling for Putnam City Schools. She earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA and her master’s degree from UCO. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, James Haskell Irwin, parents George and Hetty Ely, and brothers George ( wife Doris) Ely and Walter Ely. Mary Ellen is survived by her four children and many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family greatly. Her children are: • Her son David Irwin and his wife Nancy and their children David and Megan. He also has daughters Jamie Irwin (and son Kieffer) and Joni Bowles (husband Aaron and children Nora and Andrew). • Her daughter Susan Irwin. • Her daughter Janet Peterson and husband Paul, and children Chris Talkington, Katie Hakkas (husband John and children Evan, Mikayla and Emmy), and Michelle Harvey (husband Ryan and children Abraxas and Zyra), • Her son Jim Irwin and his wife Susie and their children Allison (husband Adam and daughter Addie) and Jimmy and (wife Emily). The memorial service will be held Friday, March 1st, 2024, at 03:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org, in memory of Mary Ellen Irwin.

He worked as a talented carpenter before working at the Western Technology Center in Burns Flat, OK, until his retirement. Dale was also a retired volunteer firefighter for Cordell. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and to go fishing. He enjoyed being a grandpa and he was a great one. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. She worked at First National Bank in Oklahoma City for several years. Joann owned and operated her own Beauty Shop. She married Don Thompson in June of 1987 in Mountain View, Oklahoma. She worked at First National Bank in Mountain View for a while and then worked for the City of Mountain View as City Clerk. Joann loved being with her family.
