Doris Jean Freeman, 76, of Falmouth, KY, entered into her eternal rest with her precious Lord on Thursday February 15, 2024. Born on February 5, 1948 in Paris, KY, she was the daughter of the late Roy Julian and Evelyn Feeback Snapp. In 1994, Doris was united in marriage to Gene Freeman; he preceded her in death on June 9, 2016. She was a graduate of Finneytown High School. Doris’s outgoing bubbly personality and welcoming smile caused her to be endeared by everyone who knew her, including her co-workers at Walmart in Dry Ridge where she served as Manager, as well as all her customers, friends and family. Being a 3-time cancer survivor made her a strong, tenacious individual; she will long be remembered for how she proved to be genuinely strong physically, mentally, emotionally and certainly spiritually. Many of her younger co-workers affectionately called her “Momma Doris” because of her caring and understanding approach and instilling in each of them the virtue of commitment and strong work ethics. For over 10 years she directed and organized the annual Relay for Life Charity Walk in both Grant and Boone Counties. Reading her Bible was a routine part of her activities; she was an avid UK Basketball fan; everything in her life centered around home, family and work. Nothing brought her more joy and satisfaction than “Christmas with the family”. She leaves to carry on her gift of life, two daughters: Paula Allene (Henry) Dick of Foster, KY, Angie Marie McKinney of Falmouth; two brothers: Eddie Snapp of Indiana, Jerry Snapp of Texas and one sister: Teresa Wagner of Lexington. She was lovingly called “Granny” to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Margaret Carolyn Houston Flaugher

Apr 30, 1927 - Feb 07, 2024

location-icon

Falmouth, KY

"Margaret Carolyn Houston Flaugher Our loss became Heaven’s gain when Carolyn Flaugher entered into eternal rest with the Father on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. On April 30,1927, Jarold and Florence “Toadie” (Moore) Houston were blessed with the arrival of their first child, Margaret Carolyn Houston. Carolyn, as we all knew her, was named for her aunt, Margaret Houston Morford, who was quite fond of her niece. Carolyn made a commitment to the Lord at an early age and became a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church. At the time of her passing, she was Pine Grove’s oldest member. Carolyn was a first grade student at the one room Oak Hill School on Lenoxburg Road back in 1933-1934, where she met Charles Earl Flaugher. Surprisingly, he didn’t waste any time proposing to her on the playground, and her answer was an immediate “Yes.” Eleven years later, on February 27, 1945, she honored Charles’ proposal, and they became Mr. and Mrs. Flaugher, enjoying 51 years of a happy marriage. A few months after they married, Carolyn graduated from Butler High School. The Flaugher family grew in 1947, when Sharma was born. Six years later, Dixie was welcomed home, as well as Billy Charles, six years after that. Carolyn was a busy wife and mother and was also involved in many community endeavors. She was fond of her church, Pine Grove United Methodist, and was always willing to help in any way she could. She was a charter member of the Mt. Auburn Homemakers and had 60 years of perfect attendance. She was noted for being one of the best cooks in the community, and she always felt that a little sugar, some half and half cream, and real butter were the essential ingredients of any food she or anyone else prepared. Her church family always looked forward to seeing Carolyn don the door with one of her delicious blackberry cakes. Surviving to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are her children: Sharma and David Klee, Dixie and David Tackett, and Bill and Terri Flaugher. She was the proud mamaw of Mark and Jackie Klee, Kandy (Klee) and Tim Crabbe, Ashley (Flaugher) and Danny Himes, Allison (Flaugher) and Jamie Nichols, Austin Flaugher, Andy Tackett, Josh and Jodie Tackett, and Miranda (Tackett) Murphy. Her great grandchildren include Cordray, Carolyn, and Campbell Crabbe, Matthew and Olivia Klee, Avery and Addison Himes, Ellie and Brody Nichols, Devon Turner, McKenzie McCoy, Reagan, Laci, and Hudson Tackett, Keegan Long, and Charlie Russell Sparks-Flaugher. If Carolyn were to have a resume, it would read: loving wife, mother, mamaw, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and sister-in-law, an excellent seamstress who made beautiful quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, supporter of Charlie in the Thomas and Flaugher and later Flaugher Brothers Milk Transport business, energetic 4-H leader who led Pendleton County 4-H youth in a state – winning presentation entitled “50 Stars for Old Glory,” meticulous sewing instructor, faithful church worker, busy Mt. Auburn Homemaker, kind and helpful neighbor, excellent cook, and a hard worker who shared her many gifts and talents in countless ways. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as her sister, Nelda Scharfenberger, and her brother, Frank Houston. When Carolyn entered Heaven, there is no doubt she was greeted by “Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant.” Memories of Carolyn with her warm, easy smile and her laughter and positive outlook on life, will live in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church: 9095 KY Highway 10N, Foster, KY 41043, with Ronnie Redden and Bro. David Hartkopf officiating. Special music will be shared by Cordray Crabbe, Bro. David Hartkopf, and Adam Crozier. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Interment with a special tribute by the Mt. Auburn Homemakers and Carolyn’s dear friends will take place in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, with special music by Bro. David Hartkopf. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and family friend Tony Osborne. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Mt. Auburn Cemetery c/o Bill Flaugher: 9810 KY Highway 159N, Butler, KY 41006."
