Obituary of Warren Gene Cooper On Saturday, April 20, 2019, at 2:02 p.m., Heaven received another saint, Warren Gene Cooper. He was surrounded by his family at Marion General Hospital when His Father welcomed him Home. He was 68 years old. Warren made his entrance into the world on April 14, 1951, in the small town of Louisville, Mississippi. He was one of two sons born to Clayton and Clottie Spiva Cooper. In 1970, he graduated from East Prairie High School in Missouri. He married his sweetheart, Vernita Collier, and they raised two daughters, Virginia and Teresa. After 41 years and 9 months of service, Warren retired from General Motors, where he was a forklift operator. One of his biggest passions was working on cars for family and friends. He enjoyed working in his yard, and he loved listening to music and playing his guitar. He also liked vacationing in his hometown of Pinhook, Missouri, to visit with family and friends. His family meant the world to him, and he dearly loved and cherished them, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a hard-working, respectful, and extremely giving man who will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Vernita; daughters: Virginia Cooper, Marion, and Teresa Cooper, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren: Khyron Cooper and Yaseret Jiles; brother, Larry Cooper, Danville, KY; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his step-dad, Jamie Strayhorn. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. to celebrate Warren's life. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
