Michael Dion Harris was born November 7, 1968, to the parents of Andrew B. Harris and Maxine M. (DeBose) Jackson, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mike attended William Penn Elementary and Marian Anderson Middle School before graduating from Raymond S. McLain High School class of 1987. Mike excelled in sports where he would join a group of All-stars athletes in Track & Field and Football. He set out to break records in high school and later at Langston University. Mike would share some of these moments alongside and against his big brother DeAndre Harris. Mike's love of sports would pass on to the next generation of athletes in his family. Mike loved his family very much. On February 14, 1997, he married Melissa Carter. They became parents to Precious Harris, Michael Harris Jr. , Anthony Harris and Marquis Harris. As their kids got older, they would share their dad's passion for sports and excel at them as well. Mike's heart would later overflow with love and joy with the birth of his grandbabies. His sweet baby girl Precious gave birth to Mike's first grandson Ashton Harris, Ashton has never left his 'Paw Paws' side since birth; they would have an unbreakable bond between grandfather I grandson. Precious would also give birth to 3 sweet angels: Arianne, Aeris and Ariyah Simon. These 3 would have their 'Paw Paw' wrapped around their little fingers the same way their mother did when she was a baby. Mike would welcome another grandson Raylan, who looks like his father's twin, Anthony. These babies filled Mike with hope, because the Harris name would continue to carry on. There was no denying the love his grandkids had for him. Whether it was 1st days of school or celebrating birthdays, he was there. Mike's grandkids knew they could always count on him. Mike's wife Melissa would share the endless amounts of love with him and their children for over 2 decades. Their love for one another showed wherever they went. Michael's journey with the Lord began under the Pastorship with the later Rev. Richard Walker, from Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Tulsa, OK, Mike went almost everywhere with his Bible. He loved reading I studying the life of Paul. Yet, his love for the Lord blessed him with the passion to obtain his CDLs, which lead to a career in Commercial Trucking for over 15+ years. Many miles and long hours on the road made Mike the person we all knew and loved. Mike was the pure definition of "he's never met a stranger. " This was the reason Mike had so many friends. After making the hard decision to come off the road, it pushed Mike to focus on other hobbies and his relationship with God. Mike would rededicate his life to Christ and become a member of First Baptist Church Wagoner, OK where Rev. Chester Jackson (aka Pops) Pastored. The church would come to love him more and more as each Sunday would pass. They would fall in love with his stories and respect his love for the Lord. He would also become a mentor and get very close with his cousin DeAngelo Hollowell who would begin to walk with him on his new Christian journey. As a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Mentor and Loving Friend Michael will greatly be missed by everyone's hearts he touched. He was the only child of George and Kathryn Wells. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1957 and Penn State University in 1963. On June 16, 1962, Bill married Florence Lucas, his wife of 61 years. Bill and Florence settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1972. He was a founding member of Victory Christian Center, where he served in several capacities for many years. Bill enjoyed a 12 -year career with Aetna Life and Casualty, as well as 42-years as a State Farm Insurance agent, retiring in 2020. He especially loved his annual excursions with Florence and family to Aruba, where they found friendships with people from all over the United States. Bill could be found most mornings, long before the sun came up, reading his Bible and praying. His love for God's word led him to a lifelong association with The Gideons International since 1980, during which he held offices in local camps and including president of the Oklahoma Gideons.
