Durant, OK

"Wanda Beth (Holder) Harmon was born in Durant, Oklahoma on September 16, 1942 to Elberg Houston and Bessie Ann (McCarty) Holder. The fourth of ten children, Wanda was a second mother to her younger siblings and throughout her life was a fierce protector of those she loved. She married her best friend and soulmate, Donald Harmon, on November 16, 1958 and together they shared a life of 64 years, 35 weeks and 4 days. They had four daughters who, along with their own children and grandchildren, were the center of Wanda's life. For those who knew her, Wanda was the Rock of Gibraltar - a place of comfort and security. Family and friends knew she would be there in good times and bad - and over the years it was unusual to find a time when she and Don had not opened their home for someone to stay as long as needed. Wanda lived in Durant all her life and would not have wanted it any other way. She loved to travel, had an adventurous spirit and a lifelong passion for learning. She had a wicked sense of humor, loved a good game of dominos and "girls trips" with her sisters and daughters. On Sunday, July 23 Wanda left this world and was welcomed into Heaven by joyous cries from her daughter Darla Jean Shearer, and granddaughter Melissa BethAnn Coker. Also proceeding Wanda in death were her parents and her siblings Carolyn House, Debbie Mimms, Larry Jack Holder, JoAnn Shinn and Melba Ruth Holder. Heaven's gain is our loss and Wanda's absence will be felt deeply by those she has left behind. We know she immediately petitioned God to be allowed to keep watching over her loved ones here on Earth - her Sweetheart Don, Children Becky (and William) Coker, Carla (and Kelly) Kidd, and Elizabeth (and Steven) Hall, Grandchildren Derek (and Riley) Coker, Colby (and Katy) Hicks, Luke Kidd, Michael Kidd, and Connor, Caitlyn and Cooper Hall, Greatgrandchildren Will, Molly, and Evan Coker, Kai Pratt, NoraLynn, Kennedy, and Claire Hicks, Son of her heart Chuck Varner, Siblings Linda (and Charles) Howell, Donna Holder, Buddy Holder, and Jessie (and Rhonda) Holder, as well as her many extended family members and friends. Wanda's life was centered around family, love, and laughter. True to her nature she didn't want "a sad ceremony with everyone sitting around crying. " Please join us to honor her wishes with a final Family and Friends Reunion on Sunday, September 17, 1pm, at the Visual Performing Arts Center, 1614 N 1st Ave, Durant. We will share delicious food, great memories (come prepared to share!), laughter, and games. "

Juaneta Williams

Juaneta Williams

Age - 95

December 7, 2023

Her soul was so gentle, her heart was so wise, her spirit so sweet, she'll live on in our lives. She loved the Lord dearly, she had prayed for this day, for Jesus to take her by the hand and lead her along the way. She graced the life of many, a true blessing to us all, what an angel Heaven gained when she answered her Master's call. On November 20, 2023, Heaven gained an angel. Juaneta Sinor Williams was born on June 7, 1928 in Liberty, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of 16 children born to Thomas and Elexie Dall Sinor. She took great pride in being from Liberty Bottom and the baby to the countless Sinor Clan. Her childhood was filled with precious memories of her Kemp/Liberty days, especially riding the Dinky Train to town. She was a proud graduate of Kemp High School. After graduating as the Valedictorian of her senior class, she married Rex C. Williams, Sr. on August 19, 1946 after only 3 month of romance. They married in Sherman, TX. She affectionately called him "Big Rex". He was the might to her daintiness and tenacity. After marriage "Big Rex" and Juaneta moved to El Paso, Texas and later relocated to Pasco, Washington in 1952. It was there in the summer of 1952 that they welcomed their first-born son Rex Cowen Williams Jr. Soon thereafter they moved back to El Paso, Texas for it was too cold in Washington and welcomed the arrival of their second son Thomas Duncan Williams in 1956. Juaneta had fond memories of their days in El Paso. With her and "Big Rex" both working for the El Paso Electric Company. She absolutely loved her job there, especially getting to know the locals and learning the language. She always said she never had to worry about starving in El Paso because someone was always cooking a pot of beans and rice, her favorite meal! In 1960, the family made their way back to Bryan County and purchased a farm just east of Calera. It was there that she not only raised her boys but years later had the privilege of helping raise her grandchildren on top of Williams Hill. In the early 1960's, Juaneta went to work for REA as a bookkeeper. She took great pride in her job, not only because she loved the work but because she loved the people she had the privilege of meeting. Upon retirement from REA after 30 years of service, she worked briefly at the Bryan Co. Star. In the mid 1990's, she went to work at the Bryan Co. Extension Office along side some of her favorite people. She adored working with the local 4-Her's especially her grandchildren. At the age of 72, she finally decided to retire. That retirement lasted a full two weeks before boredom set in and she demanded her son hire her to be his office manager. He lovingly obliged. She continued to work part-time for him until the age of 87. Juaneta loved her sons dearly and that love could be seen by all. They always made sure their mother was appreciated by not only them but by their children as well. But nothing compared to Juaneta's love for her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Little Granny" to all. She taught them all the value of hard work and most importantly how to love the Lord and read the bible. She would spend countless hours playing games with them, especially monopoly. She believed in leading by example. It was her example that taught them all the importance of kindness, loving your family, and leading a Christian life. "Little Granny" always had a smile on her face and affectionately referred to them all as her "babes". Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy! It is only fitting that she passed the week of Thanksgiving because no one was more thankful for the many blessings in life than her. Our family is eternally grateful for the time we had with Mother and "Little Granny". We will all cherish the memories and blessings that she bestowed upon each of us. The family would like to thank Featherstone Assisted Living, its staff, and extended home health/hospice workers who loved and cherished her as we did. Juaneta was preceded in death by her Husband, her daughter-in-law Vicci Williams, her parents, her fifteen siblings and many nieces and nephews. She was survived by her sons, Rex C. Williams Jr. and wife Claudene, and Thomas D. Williams all of Calera, Ok. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Rex (Tra) C. Williams III and wife Regan of Calera, OK, Lydia Daniel and husband Andrew of Roberta, Ok, Autumn Williams of Durant, Ok, and Sarah Haney and husband Nate of Owasso, Ok.
