Wanda Joy Carter was born on March 19, 1932 to Noble H. Weaver and Gertrude Larkin in the Grayland Community, Lamar County, Texas. She attended Grayland school, Ben Franklin, Paradise, Harmon and Roxton High School. She played basketball in school where her favorite subject was math. Wanda married the love of her life, Albert M. Carter Jr. on September 3, 1955 at the First Methodist Church in Rockwall. She was a graduate of Texas Tech Banking and the University of Oklahoma Banking School. Wanda went to work in banking as a bookkeeper at First National Bank in New Castle, Wyoming in 1954. Upon moving to Garland in 1955, she worked at Casa Linda State Bank as a bookkeeper, changing to First National Bank in Garland in 1957. She retired in 1995 as a Vice President with Amresco Collecting. Wanda was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of Garner Little League and was on the board at Hickory Grove Cemetery Association, and Garland Mills Cemetery Foundation. She served as President of the Garland Chapter of American Business Women, an organization she was a member of since 1972. Wanda loved attending sporting events that her boys were involved in and continued that with her grandchildren. She loved her sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan. The boys could hear her yelling for the Dallas Cowboys from the park across the street. She also enjoyed genealogy and helped write a book about Hickory Grove Cemetery. She loved quilting, crochet and needlepoint. She always had her camera handy and took many photos along the way. After retirement, Wanda enjoyed working at early voting and was President Chair and an alternate judge for the Republican party until her health forced her to resign. She and Albert enjoyed spending time at the Carter Farm in Bonham, where she also attended Gober Baptist Church. She attended Temple Baptist Church for 54 years and remained an active member at First Baptist Church Garland until her death. She was a member of the Sarah Class where she worshiped with a special group of Christian friends. Wanda is survived by her two sons, Rickey Carter and wife Joy, Mike Carter and wife Mylinda, grandsons Chris Carter and wife Allisa, Cole Carter, Tucker Carter and wife Hayley, granddaughters Laura Carter, Alexis and husband Travis Frazelle, great grandchildren Julia Carter and Brandon Carter, and great granddaughter Alma Frazelle, as well as nieces Julie Weaver of Wyoming and Tracy Carroll of Missouri and many nieces and nephews in the Carter family. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert M. Carter, Jr. , her parents Noble H. Weaver and Gertrude Larkin Weaver, infant daughter Deanna Gail Carter, brother William H. Weaver and sister Bobbie Brown. The family would like to thank some of her special friends, Lori and Bill Raley and Donna and Joe Stewart. She was blessed with two special ladies who took very good care of her over the past few years, Josie Black and Stephanie Emeyabbi.
